i am glad they show Mary as she was. she wasn't insane. she was a Tudor, cold and calculating. she raised an army and rode at the head of it to take the throne, she stood before London and lied through her teeth to get support to crush the Wyatt rebellion. she was far more than a religious fanatic which also makes her scarier.

And Elizabeth learned from her. Her speech at the guildhall in London about loving her people as a mother loves their child is a theme elizabeth used countless times.

What a strong scene, and what a speech by Mary, great confrontation! Thanks for posting Lili!

The actress playing Elizabeth did a masterful job at portraying her as seemingly naive and thus underestimated yet almost always the smartest person in the room.

They should call it Becoming Mary Tudor. Because the actress nailed every scene and her role . And she is the the next queen after Edwards death.

as things stand and if her health had allowed, bloody Mary would have reigned, and Elizabeth married off or executed much like her cousin years later. Health was the die cast in so many twist of rein.

Henry clearly put Mary, his favorite daughter, above Elizabeth in the inheritance while passing his final act of succession. Plainly and clearly. Mary beheading Dudley is one of my all time favorite parts of history

Mine’s too. Dudley was a moron.

It wasn't a case of favouritism, Mary was the eldest. In that era the eldest son inherited pretty much everything, and passed it onto his sons or his brothers. Women might inherit if there were no men, but in those cases, it would be the eldest first.

Yeah, if anything he might have loved Elizabeth more because she never resisted and angered the king like Mary did. He never threatened to have Elizabeth killed like he did Mary

@@Elizabeth-hc3miI don't think he loved them as much as his son. Henry disinherited both his daughters. So, he's a monster however he loved his son.

Elizabeth and Mary were Henry’s favorite at one time and they were deemed a bastard when Edward was born. It was during Henry’s marriage with Catherine Parr that Elizabeth and Mary’s position and legitimacy be restored. Hence explains why Mary was second in line to the throne after Edward as she was the eldest. It would be a different story if Mary’s legitimacy was never restored.

Not a very long one, Dudley proved a paper tiger and surrendered meekly.
