Wow I love this piece 💗 and the advice was so on time! I’m definitely working on destroying that “good enough” narrative I’ve told myself for so long.. I’m finally trying new things in my art, and it’s nice and freeing to not hold myself back with fear anymore. I wish that every artist will find that freedom and express without fear ☺️✨.

Your thoughts about sharing your private life - even if it's just what we'd consider little and irrelevant snippets like that puzzle - really hit home. I'm pretty active on social media, but for my own mental health, I rarely if ever post actual, "real-time" personal life updates. It's something I'll have to keep in mind for art vlogs etc, thank you for the advice... The portrait turned out beautiful! Her expression is really subtle and could be interpreted in different ways, which I love!

In my opinion, you are always good "enough" as long as you enjoy it but also you'll never reach the end of how much you can improve. I for the longest time thought if I decide "well, it's not my job and I'm satisfied with my skill right now so I don't have to study much more" then it will be more comfortable and I'll get rid of all anxieties and artblock, but it worked the opposite way for some reason. Only once I got the want to improve again is when my art block disappeared. Even though I have no reason to do it. It is simply rewarding to see your progress, and for some it is the motiviation in itself. You can always try a new thing, but it's really hard to come up with ideas if you decide to stop developing your style and set it in stone, at least it is to me personally. I realized you are always good enough to enjoy it and continue, but you'll always have room for improvment and that is a good thing.

"it just has to be done" mindset is something that works for my regular nine-to-five and freelance job (neither has anything to do with art), but for my art practice... not as often, unfortunately... as to why artists hold themselves to a higher standard... maybe it's because the work is do tied to our personality, hence, if the work is not as good, we might feel that it's us who aren't as good. this topic is so complicated and so simple at the same time - on the one hand, it's just art, go create, enjoy the process, make mistakes, practice the skills... on the other... well, it's me on that piece of paper... at times, it's not very easy to untangle... great video, beautiful portrait! ❤

I’m new and just found your channel, (which is lovely) but to answer the question at the end of the video - the topic of art thieves and how you handle it would be very interesting to me. Casting aside the clear thievery of profit, intellectual property etc, I’d love to hear more of your thoughts on how to cope with that happing to the intensely expressive, personal works that you’ve done. Art theft (as just general redraws, tracing, etc) is annoying ofc and covered a lot, but it’s EXTREMELY uncomfortable when it’s such an important piece to you or a portrait of someone you know. How do you separate your work from yourself when that happens? Thank you for reading if you have! 😊

It just has to be done works until it doesn’t 🥲 then I had to learn some new methods of motivating myself which started with ditching my perfectionism. Lovely video and painting!

Really enjoyed watching you paint this. I couldn’t see how it would come together, but as you added layers of detail, at one point I was like, oh, I see how she did it ❤ Thanks for sharing.

i had this thought for some time too. but nowadays i do feel good enough in my art but my social media skills aren't there i guess. because making art a profession is definitely the big goal for me and i do think my art is good enough for prints, stickers etc. so selling basically.

"Who cares ?" "Who does it hurt ?" hum. ME ? I care and it hurts lmao, a passion isn't supposed to be happy all the time, a passion is something you do naturally, it's like breathing, but sometimes breathing is hard because the air is nauseous, toxic, ect... it's the same for art when it's a passion. So yeah it hurts and yes i care. I understand your point of view, but it's very much a optismistic view and a bit too optimistic to be real or relatable for me. But it was a great video, i liked it fr, it's cool to have someone else point of view on the subject!

yeah i kinda agree. art making isn't always sunshine and rainbows and loving it doesn't mean there aren't struggles involved. or you can't think negatively of it from time to time. we love it that's why we don't quit it despite of it though.
