I'm a Secondary School Teacher and I can tell you that kids thrive when their parents are involved in their children's education. Meaning, when there are meetings, parents' days, concerts, sports days, etc... try and be there. Every kid learns in a different way and likewise, every kid studies in a different way. Some highlight and take notes, others explain things aloud to themselves or their soft toys and others read and underline, just to mention a couple of studying tips. It's a trial and error process. Parents aren't expected to know everything, but if a child is stuck, re-read the teacher's notes or the textbook or search for an explanation on youtube. It's good to help the child to find a routine which suites him/her for the first couple of years but then, they should learn to become more responsible. They should be the ones who leave their phones in the kitchen while they study or do their homework in their bedrooms. Lastly, honesty and openness are really important in parents-children relationships, so they can feel free to ask for help whenever something is bothering them.

I like your transparency and how you don’t just go with the crowd on social media. It’s great how you’ve always set appropriate boundaries for you and your family with regards to being a content creator; it is your prerogative to only share what you feel comfortable sharing with the world. It’s refreshing to see that you continue to be comfortable in your own skin and have a great outlook on the idea of aging gracefully.

I really like this format! Actually, even for more "visual" type videos, I would often pay half attention to it and I just like listening to someone while I do my chores. I hope you do these types of videos more often; even the longer length is preferred!

On the botox front, I feel like influencers need to be honest about what they've had done IF they, then, proceed to do skincare advertisements because they are engaging in false advertising and, essentially, lying to their viewers about what results they can get with x skincare brand.
@AshleyZieman2 жыл бұрын
Omg i could not agree more. Annoying as hell. People who promote skincare and get so much done and fail to say they do as much as they do. Stopped watching these people.

Agree. I know people choose the career , but I think it would be so hard to do that job. People love to give feedback and can be so harsh. So many influencers I follow talk about their mental health or GI issues- I wonder how much of that can be attributed to how much scrutiny they are under.
@AshleyZieman2 жыл бұрын
@@karolinaks4192 I definitely think that all the scrutiny and comments about everything they do or say is a contributing factor for poor mental health. It is never ok to berate someone. It is however in my opinion alright to give feedback or to point out false marketing. I rarely ever say negative things that don't actually have value. But yes it must be very har to put yourself out there online.

I love this format Lily. For you to just to grab a cuppa and sit and chat to us so we can fully follow along or just listen to in the background. I love it when you sit and talk with no prep because it comes across as super authentic, honest and you end up sharing really useful information and relatable life skills with us. No forced content, very real and normal. And it's so nice to hear some behind the scenes thoughts and feelings on the industry and on parenting. I feel like in the last few months you really seem to have come into your own, seem so much happier and talk so much more positively and from true life experience, it's really nice to see!

I love the honest answer about pets. I feel like, as the person asking said, pets are so common there is almost an expectation that people have one. Like its "odd" for people not to. But it's become like a trend, everyone else has one so some people just do it because they see everyone else do it. But they take a lot of work and attention. Not just the 2 walks a day but training, fulfilment, mental stimulation etc. It is a lot and is a huge commitment. We'll done for acknowledging that and for knowing it is OK to not have a pet.

The way you reason having/not having pets shows how responsible you are. More people should think about it this way. You know a pet is a family member and would need as much time and attention as any other family member. You are so right about it.

But for me talking about it with my husband has been very healing. Thank you for your videos I’ll have you on my prayers and I wish you nothing but the best lilly

About drugs and other heavy topics, one piece of advice I can give is to talk to them about everything from an early age. Answer any question they may have truthfully in an age-appropriate manner. My kid noticed a neighbour smoking and cigarette butts on the street when he was a toddler and asked what they were so I explained what they were and introduced the concept of addiction. Again, it needs to be age appropriate but if it's done from an early age and in a continuous manner (not just one conversation) there will be no coolness factor associated with any of this. There really is no topic that I am not be prepared to talk about, so he knows he can ask me anything. We are also lucky that the health curriculum is very good in schools here.

Re: surgery/botox transparency: I recommend Lorry Hill. Wonderful, respectful KZbinr with really high quality content. Her message is showing that "beauty" is attainable and wants to share more about procedures, prices, risks.. She talks about surgery, botox etc and takes celebrities as examples without shaming anyone. It helps so much to see what people probably had done when you personally would never spot the signs of it because they're so small but somehow everyone looks the same and different from their own prior self.

Understand what you mean about not needing to share so much about yourself, but at the same time I think many creators do it because the more the viewer feels they know about the person they are watching the more connected and invested they feel to come back and watch more. Or at least this has been the case for me I think! This is a form of entertainment for many people, and the personal aspect might be why vlogs are so popular because it’s following along with someone’s day, or this type of video where you are sharing your opinions on different topics - these are my favourite :)

I definitely enjoy the longer videos that keep me company while I’m doing something else. Also love your beauty videos and reviews of different things too!
