Thats part of the problem. To limit that experience and or feeling to any specific time period like it was a fad takes away the actual emotions that people should be experiencing andd feeling in music all the time. It cant be limited to a time period like its no longer effective

Kudos for him doing this live without playback. It kills me when others do this and you can tell it's the original vocal track.

The only thing that is not a backing track, are the vocals. The instruments are absolutely a backing track. The guitar licks sounds way too clean, and way too much like the studio recording, for it to be a live performance. The bass player isn't playing the same things as what you can hear on the backing track, such as some of the slaps and pops. The drums are probably played live, as you can hear they're not on a backing track

Still he decides to sing in the original range which is impressive for his age. He could lower it to make it easier to sing but he doesn't want it and I think that's absolutely fine!

Actually he's singing the same notes as he's always been. It's the other singer that sings the upper registers of the song if you listen carefully to his previous live perforamnces as well as even the studio recording.

Wow! This song is so iconic and nostalgic. I was in gradeschool when this became a hit and this is the first movie i watched with my Dad. There was no video, MTV back then. I almost 50 now. I miss my Dad….. Love you Dad and thanks for the great memories.

Oh God!! The 80ies and my childhood/youth. What a lovely time in my life. Beautiful song to one of the sweetest movies ever. Still got tears in my eyes as soon as the first note starts to play. It's great to see Limahl adding variations to a song he's no doubt done hundreds of times over, and yet slips perfectly into the harmonising that gives me shivers. ^_^ Having the live band just adds to the pleasure of hearing this again.

For me, those variations sound like he didn't know the lyrics or the monitors were bad and he were in constant delay to the music. It gets a bit better when the lady starts, but they hurts my ear... but, it must be just my opinion. If you like it, then I'm ok with it.
