She was in a dance musical in NYC. It was a small, off Broadway show. Somehow I found out about it, I don’t remember now. And I bought tickets to the show. I sat in the front row. It was a musical about the ocean. That’s pretty much all I remember. She danced in it and she had on a mermaid like costume. I was so happy to see her! I wish I would have thought to ask to go backstage to meet her but I just left after the show.

When I was a kid, like toddler age, I thought Atreyu was a girl - I have no idea why I thought that. But I always loved the name, so I named my son Atreyu who was later diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes and Autism Spectrum Disorder. Fun fact, the name Atreyu can be translated as "son of all", and because we get help from medical professionals, family, and friends; he really lived up to his name. Also, when we watched NeverEnding Story with him when he was younger, his eyes lit up every time he heard his name. Priceless!

@karatachi697 ай бұрын
(Don't read if you don't want book spoilers!) In the book, Bastien really lives out his dreams, making many wishes. But he slowly loses his memories of his human-life as he makes wishes. Long story short, Atreyu helps Bastien return to the real world, where Bastien tells his father the whole story (including naming the Empress after his mother's nickname "Moonchild") which helps Bastien's father overcome his grief of losing his wife. So, not only is it about following your dreams, but about learning how to overcome losing loved ones, and consoling each other through that. Bittersweet, but yeah. My point is, many of the actors had to overcome many challenges after the movie, like all of us. It's that humanization of these people that make them easy for us to relate to more deeply.

Bastian was the sweet little nerdy wimplet. I felt like I had lots in common with him, but I really *wished* I could be more like Atreyu. Way braver, more confident, more selfless, and *tremendously* more athletic than poor Bastian. Took me freaking forever, and I’m no longer young, but I’m finally more balanced, having earned *some* of what made Atreyu worthy of respect, without losing who I was.
