You're really recording your commentary as you paint? That's amazing, and the hallmark of a natural born teacher! I really love the one brush idea. It really helps one to stay focused instead of getting distracted by having an extra 2 or 3 brushed in the other hand.

Thank you so much for saying you use Liquin original to bind when you use thinner. I have started using thinner in my first layer recently because it makes things so easy. You just saved me so many upset buyers in the future 😅😂

Lovely, sunny painting as usual. Hey, I won a prize yesterday in a small town plein air competition which many hours of watching your videos helped me achieve. You should be proud cuz I just waltzed in there 3 hours before stop time and crushed it, lol. You just got yourself another Patreon supporter. Best wishes and thanks.

I always look forward to your videos. I learn something every time. Ex: using Liquin helps paint bind to panel. Using odorless mineral spirits will break down the binding. What do you do when you paint indoors? I know you've said you don't use Liquin inside because of the smell. Wonderful video as usual. Thank you so much.
@chamberlainpaintings
@chamberlainpaintings Жыл бұрын
Thanks Amy. I use a mixture of 1 part OMS, 1 part stand oil, 2 parts linseed oil, when painting inside. Or I'll use Gamblin Solvent Free Gel.

Lovey painting! Is there a reason why you favor original alizarin as opposed to the permanent version?
@chamberlainpaintings
@chamberlainpaintings Жыл бұрын
Thanks Danny! Yes, alizarin original is a superior color. It's mixes so well with other colors, it's not overpowering. It's as irreplaceable as ultramarine! I wouldn't use if for glazing but in mixes it has a lightfast rating of 2 which is good enough for me.

As always, a great final product (as well as great instructional information)! Wondering how much Liquin you're using in the paint...it seems like the initial layers tack up quite quickly and you're able to cover easily with subsequent layers...can you share this with us? Looking forward to next Sunday as always! Thanks in advance....
@chamberlainpaintings
@chamberlainpaintings Жыл бұрын
Thanks Charles! The amount of Liquin varies depending on how loose I want the paint. I use more in the beginning stages and less as the painting progresses.

Good harmony. Try using two sets of primaries: cool and warm…that is a cool yellow such as cad yellow light and a warm, that could be mellow ochre…you have a good cool red try adding cad red for warm…your blues are warm and cool…my thought is using the cool blends for background and warm for foreground. You are progressing with each painting. William

That's really interesting and useful regards the odourless spirit Vs liquin use, thanks for that. I don't know why I struggle so much with mediums, you make it nice and simple. Also do you just go ahead and stand in the middle of the road to paint?! 😅

Really like your street and urban paintings. Do you ever use Liquin rather than MS to do a wash?
@chamberlainpaintings
@chamberlainpaintings Жыл бұрын
Thanks Doug. I don't do a wash with mineral spirits alone unless I'm painting on canvas. I always use Liquin to thin the paint for the block in.

Very nice painting, sir! I love these as well. // I'm just wondering if Leonardo da Vinci tried to paint, maybe, over the old Mona Lisa 1 to create the current version Mona Lisa 2? That would be cool too. I just hope that art historians, you know, keep their Liquins at home! Greetings from the EU!
