"fun" fact about Elenda: because of how LifeLink and damage works she gets the +5/+5 from going over 30 life before lethal damage can kill her. So hopefully you didn't desperately double block her as your only hope of salvaging the game. That would suck. Not that I would know.

Good luck to Luis. Super stoked to see Paul join the LR cast. Looking forward to this episode. I am loving Foundations draft so far: 4-3 with Dimir Control, 7-2 with UG Ramp - Kiora was sweet! I have only been playing MTG since Throne of Eldraine, so I still cling onto the simpler sets (e.g. Bloomburrow, Foundations) and I really struggle in the more complex sets (e.g. DSK). Really appreciate the content from all of you guys: LR, Lords, Alex, Sierko, Paul, ect... I am learning so much and loving it. Cheers. 😊

The authority is playable for sure, as the lifegain is supported in the set and you get in more damage as they get their blockers tapped. Its incredible annoying, especially in blue/white if you can bounce a creature, its tapped down when they play it, so this gives you tempo. And if you have Ajanis pridemate, they will provide the lifegain. Its absolutely NOT a "F" card in this set at all.

9 common elves in the set and 4 uncommon I feel like your under playing the archdruid a bit the +1/+1 can help your early creatures stall out for the big green bombs and like lsv said on last one green looks like a colour that's going to play pretty dominate and either splash white or red or blue so the double green isn't as bigger deal as it might otherwise be that said still not a bomb by any stretch but I wouldn't mind first picking this and trying to build around it a bit.

If an opponent flashes in Ambush Wolf and exiles NLF from your graveyard, it’s gone and will not return to the battlefield at the beginning of the end step.

Re: Quilled Greatwurm and parity Even in the situation Paul described, you both have 3/3s, they basically have to block. They can't let your guys get through and double their size. So I think it's still really good at parity. If they have a much wider board than you, well, that's an issue.😊

@@chrisshaw5709any end of turn triggers for that specific permanent do not exist anymore. Anything new after that point on the next turn exist only for those permanents. Example, Urabrasks Forge. Beginning of combat make a token equal to the counters on Forage. Sack at the end of turn. If the turn ended before then by the blue card, that creature doesn’t have to be sacked. It stays. The next turn a new creature is created and that one has the end of turn ability and will be sacked at end of turn. Is this clear and helps you understand it better?

Just a bit of feedback: This is way longer than it needs to be, and it’s taking me days to listen to it. Maybe it’s supposed to be a casual hang, but I’m using it as a really good review of the rares. Specifically, Paul has obviously prepared, and knows exactly what he wants to say, while it feels like Marshall is spitballing reviews on the spot. Sometimes he’s reacting like he’s never read the card before. On many cards, Paul has already said everything I wanted to know and then Marshall launches into an explanation that is three times as long but doesn’t add anything, mostly just agreeing with Paul’s assessment or describing edge cases that aren’t consistently achievable. I’d rather he take a more passive role and simply react to what Paul said, ask the occasional question for clarification, that kind of thing. Just my feedback, take it or leave it, thanks!! Edit: I guess what I’m saying is that Paul is providing expert analysis, while Marshall is doing more like what I already do in my head when I read cards for the first time haha

I have found its possible to get your to do a split tribal with banner if you grt it early enough i was blue white with only soldiers and birds in the deck. It got the banner to work, but your right its definitely a build around but it works alot better than coat bc it only affects your creatures

Opponent at my prerelease had homunculus horde with phyrexian arena and drew arena every game 😢 I lost with a heavy green based ramp deck splashing bombs and removal in 3 other colours. Had llanovar elves, paradise druid, 2 burnished heart, bushwack, solemn simulacrum and 3 dual lands 😭 In theory this deck should've popped off majorly, especially in sealed.

Watch out for elenda interaction. If you block with a 4/4 against get while your opponent is at 17 life. They will go to 21 and then it will check and see that she is now a 5/5 and only taken four damage. Don't get blown out by that

I feel like Quilled Greatworm should be higher. Even if you’re at parity with your opponent you can basically force them to trade off 1 for 1 (or better depending on the board state). If they don’t trade with your attacks you’re too far ahead.

Authority is absolutely fire in commander, but just not worth spending a card on in limited most of the time. If you're defensive, the lifegain is mildly useful, while the tapping is likely useless. If you're ahead and getting aggressive, then things entering tapped is useful, but the lifegain is useless. That and it being almost blank at parity, or when you draw it late.

There's about even chances (11% of drawing both vs 13% of just drawing authority in the top 10 cards) with you assembling the combo, as drawing authority on its own (which is likely bad). That and the combo is still dead-ish later, which makes me want other lifegain sources if I can get them.

Commentary on Etali, I feel so seen... Short story: Played GR aggro elves with Etali at top of curve (FNM draft). Only cast it once, attacked and... 2 lands off the top of our libraries. 😑 Luckily I had a dragon trainer, which was the actual finisher in the deck. Went 3-0, which makes up for all my 2-3 premier drafts on arena (every single stinking foundations draft so far, also 😑).

God this format is dumb. Draft any creature based deck, play every round against BG or BR decks that have like 8-10 removal spells + a bomb that ends the game after playing 5 turns of removal. Where are all the bad decks from the tables that passed them all the premium removal? Shouldn't I play against those as well instead of playing 4 rounds against slight variations of the same deck to go 1-3 again because at my table black was cut so I had to draft a deck that's not removal tribal and that loses against removal tribal? F* this stupid game. Next draft I have the nuts RB deck, a bunch of mulligans and mana screws later 0-3
