Had the various lunchtime meal deals for many years, not these days, but this speaker is a bitter old man out of touch: the meal deal gets you a walk out of the office, rather than eating pasta salad from a tupperware at your desk, in addition to which was the thrill of swapping the numbers with others about how much you'd saved. A good meal deal wasn't just a good lunch but the £2.74 saving over a £2.50 saving was something to have a slight swagger about in the 5-10 mins chat when everyone returns to their desks. You'd genuinely choose your items just to game that. Haven't had one in years but I want a meal deal now.
