Saved all my money to buy a used Mk V in 1986 when I graduated from High School. Was my first car, and I was so proud of it!. You really captured the fun of cruising around with the music on!

PAUL PETERSON I'm not exactly a fan of the music, but it's a Lincoln, there's not really much to hear.

There is nothing to hear. This video is why I have no interest in the new cars today.

dang, that's a scary driveway to have to maneuver for a rear bumper Beautiful MarkV however

Should play some Supertramp, Donna Summer or Doobie Brothers instead of that new crap on the radio.

Not sure what people mean by this car not being "practical". I owned a Mark VI & it was plenty "practical". Good gas mileage for the size, plenty of room for guests, tons of cargo space, strong engine, AC/Heat that would blow your head off, gliding over pot holes, safety from all that steel around you, etc. Compare that to these plastic feeling boxes on wheels they sell now, and you can keep your "practical" car if you think that's all a car should be. A Mark is meant to give you luxury, period.

I bet that car just glides over the road. Beautiful machine!

Bet that Mercury Colony Park in the background belongs to you too! I would stress out pulling the Lincoln out of the garage, fear of a dreaded screeching sound

Spectacular car, craptacular music. I had to stop watching due to the poor choice of "music".

That would be a good move, yes. I would have been about the likes of "Baker Street" by Gerry Rafferty or "Moonlight Feels Right" by Starbuck. (Bear in mind the synth in the latter would be obnoxious after a bit, but the lyrics would have been wildly appropriate to the car--playing off that '70s yuppie stereotype a bit.)

@biglinc1 Too bad you had to sell your 78'. These cars are not practical, but I don't drive them much since I have two newer commute cars - 08' mustang and 05' town car. Thanks for the comment on the cars!

That drive way looks brutal

@biglinc1 I understand turning a profit since I had 18 cars a year or two ago and now I'm down to less than half that - I'm keeping only the cars that I love. I like your taste in cars! Mustang is the FUN car - it's a "bullet" edition - 5-speed, 4.6L 315hp. The back seats are useless, except keeps insurance rate down and holds a couple bags of groceries. I have yet to post videos of the Mustang. I have a couple videos I need to edit and I'll have more car stuff soon. Thanks!!!

Nice ride these when Lincolns were Lincolns. That drveway looks scary I thought you were going to scrape the bumbers.

Beautiful car, but wow - what a nasty driveway. You have to drive something with less overhang at the rear. Still looks tough though. How do you manage to keep the garage from floading in rainstorms? We tried that once at my parents house, even though their driveway wasn't nearly this steep. Have you ever considered tilting the floor in the garage, by raising the floor at the opening of the gate? It does require a safe drain along the inner wall.
@shane97014 жыл бұрын
@KoldingDenmark I do hate the driveway!!! All my cars are big and the driveway is always a challange. I usually use boards to back out without scccraping. There's a drain at the bottom of the driveway that catches all the rain water - so the garage doesn't fload. The driveway makes me want to sell the house and move - but the housing market needs to come back before I can sell the house. Oh well. Thanks for the comment!

Beautiful car with most of the good features. You should have played era specific music from the late 1970s or no music at all. I used to own a Mark V.

That's a really nice car! I cant believe you didn't scrape the bumper on the driveway! Was that you station wagon on the street in the begging? That car looks fun to drive too, my dad has always wanted one.

People talk about these being "not practical" all the time. Lol. Single people without kids, whom drive Hummers & Excursions... that's not practical, but to each his own. We're free to drive what ever we won't. The only thing different about the 70's Lincoln's in contrast to today's gas guzzler's, is that the Continental's are, and will always be classics. Period. I'll keep my '78 on the road just to keep the brand alive.

Love those old Mark V Lincolns, but they wouldn't be my first choice for driving on canyon roads like that. Those cars are best suited for highways or anywhere that's straight and flat.

Sir, you're better off parking that in the street. That dip into your garage is too steep for the cars clearance!
