Thank you for the video. Good tips. Was that 39.5mm or 44.5mm bearing? I’m doing my 2010 Mazda CX-9 and it goes in smooth but when I get close to it sitting flush with the cover is won’t go down anymore and I even put grease on it and the cam sensor seal has a flat part only on one valve cover so is that a special grommet for the cam sensor seal?

The socket was a 1 1/8. You will have to check everything and make sure there is not something blocking the cover from going on.

And is the seal seat tool needed, or is there a diy weekend garage mechanic way of doing it?

In the video @ 2:24 there is a description of the socket used instead of the astro driver tool. Also to install just find a tube or pipe that fits. You may need to grind it down a bit to fit. Check different sockets a bit of grinding on them will get the fit perfect.

The gasket set is about $90. The labor is about 2.5 hours. For a shop that's about $400 for the whole job. I would not want a cheap deal on this type of work. If they damage something it could lead to many problems. Get a good mechanic you can trust.

I’m in the process of doing this on my 2009 Edge…what’s the torque specs and the pattern ???

Pattern - standard work out from center Torque - the valve cover bolts bottom out on a limit shoulder, after it bottoms out its about 15 to 17 ft lbs. I did it with a 3/8 ratchet, and tightened them up similar to a spark plug. They don't need much but enough to bottom out and then get tight. Start every one by hand first. No power tools. They will snap off easily.
