@@omarn4661 100 percent. A LIE. First, USC had to gauge if any INITIAL interest was there by Riley, via his agent, as a sorta "feeling out" stage, if you will. The hiring of a Head Coach at a big name school is an EXPENSIVE, EXTENSIVE process. They just don't vet unwilling or uninterested candidates, all willy-nilly! That would be a waste of money and time. USC, then, had to compile all his in-game statistics, compile game tape, do intense, personal background info sessions, INCLUDING WITH LINCOLN!, etc.. Then they had to get his "gentleman's agreement" (they don't want to let it leak and be embarrassed if he's unwilling), to go ahead and get those expensive USC contract lawyers to construct the first draft of a contract. Then USC had to engage further with HIS lawyer, and/or, agent! Then Riley had to agree, after the usual back and forth in negotiations, in principal, to the contract. All the while, getting his wife and children preliminarily, in a LA home and schools, or at least have knowledge of the area in which he wants his family to live and attend school, and he had to get them OUT of their current OK ones! House on the market, etc . ..! Also, Riley had to have a list and some suggestions, as to his USC staffing hires, etc. . He TOOK some hires straight from his old OK program, so they HAD to have had some ADVANCE knowledge to leave their homes, and move with their families, children, etc.., too!. No wonder Lincoln couldn't concentrate when coaching his remaining losing games, he was already mentally out of there! HE IS A BAD LIAR. THERE IS NO WAY THAT ALL OF THAT, and it's not even an "all inclusive" list, WAS ACCOMPLISHED IN A FEW HOURS. As a matter of fact, USC unknowingly contradicted Riley, ALREADY, by stating that they showed the big money donors a compilation of Riley and his OK program, to get them hyped up, in order to to offer Riley a contract, since the donors are really the one's paying! You don't get big money donors together at the last minute, not even by Zoom. Riley couldn't stay the "boy wonder" Coach/alleged QB whisperer because the two QBs he DID recruit: Williams is raw, and isn't "it", and Rattler flamed out, so his long run as a sort of "Heisman QB or candidate" , factory, (Kyler, Jalen, Baker all transferred, Riley didn't recruit ANY of them!), was becoming EXTINCT. Please 🙄

Lincoln Riley's success at OU was built on 4 names 1. Baker Mayfield 2. Kyler Murray. 3. Jalen Hurts . 2 Heisman winners and one runner-up ! Lincoln didn’t recruit any of them; they transferred into OU . So they were primed and ready to go . And # 4. Bob Stoops . Bob Stoops set Lincoln Riley up with a program that needed nothing but to ride it out and receive all the credit for . Lincoln has never built a program and hired any of his coaches because at OU it was already there . If you want to judge Lincoln’s own success then let’s do it with the players he recruited 1.Spencer Rattler 2. Caleb Williams. Be careful what you wish for Riley success are not what everybody thinks it is . There’s a reason Riley doesn’t want to compete in the SEC conference because it will expose that his coaching style can’t be competitive enough to win games and that he can’t no longer hide behind someone else’s success and claim it as their own .

definitely not happy to see him go, but i want all OU faithful to keep the following in mind: -he inherited an already successful program with perhaps the best QB ever to play there -he didn't actually develop any QB's - Mayfield and Murray were studs and Hurts transferred in(see spencer rattler for the supposed QB guru title) -OU has been above-average at best these past two seasons -he has failed to bring in any significant amount of talent on the defensive end i do wish him well, and i think OU will be just fine. its unfortunate there are not a lot of great options out there, as Fickle would likely choose ND if he were to go anywhere.

I truly don't understand the hurt feelings coming from Oklahoma. College football is a business. You left the Big-12 to go to the SEC for money crippling that conference.That was a business decision. If it's hurt feelings because it's the realization that coaching in Norman, OK might not be the end all for some coaches, get over yourselves.

You really think Oklahoma fans or it's players had any say in leaving the BIG 12? What does it matter what we think. This was decided by the rich guys in the program. Business arrangments are all fine and well but leaving the way he did to a program that gave him a good spot to be in was shady. He couldve told them way in advance so it wouldn't hurt Oklahoma's recruiting and it's the fact that Oklahoma is a question mark right now as far as the next direction. Just be a man and be upfront that you don't want to be there anymore. Don't fake the facade of being upset about the so called tough decsion that took you less than 5 hours to decide.

Didn’t take a 20 minute interview to know why he left. He knows he can’t recruit or coach against Bama, UGA, LSU, Florida, Ole Miss, Auburn and the rest of the SEC on a year to year basis. Period. He was on his way from being the most hyped coach in the country to the guy that was gonna be sitting 9-3 or 8-4 on a good year in the SEC. He wanted OU to stay in the BIG 12 and keep getting those 11-1 seasons where all they have to do is win a conference championship and they’re in. He ran from competing with the best. If OU is still in the BIG 12 he’s still their coach.

There comes a point where a coach or player feels he/she has reached their peak team/player performance wise. I think Brian Kelly and Lincoln Riley believe OU and ND has reached their peak and if they stayed at their perspective schools, they wouldn’t win the NC. It took Kelly 13 years and Riley 5 years to realize this. Both believe at their new schools, if done right, they can consistently win or build a dynasty. Only time will tell. I believe at least one won’t last their entire contract.
@btbarr16

ND is a storied program, but not for this generation. ND is never going to have the recruiting class that LSU can have with the right head coach. ND did what they could but aligning with the ACC, but unless they fully join a power 5 conference they will always have a recruitment, talent, and strength of schedule ceiling. Also, ND being a catholic school might turn some recruits away too. Considering what Kelly has done with ND, even with having those deficiencies, I'm really interested to see what he can do in the SEC.

@@colton4910 false, riley was in charge when baker won heisman and was the number 1 pick, and soon kyler followed the same path under linc. sure baker came when bob was there but it wasn’t until linc became the head guy that he flourished.

@@spuh3460 To be fair, i think you guys put too much emphasis on Lincoln instead of the talent it takes to win a hesiman.
