Absolutely one of my favorite songs and performances. I think I was a junior in H.S. when this came out and I think I wore the album out. I was either listening to classic Led Zeppelin or this. Strange combo but her voice and the music were perfect for each other 😍

I was fortunate enough to see her and Nelson Riddle when this album dropped. It was phenomenal and still one of the finest vocal performances I’ve ever seen.

Saw Linda twice in concert. Watching her do this standard live tore me to shreds. My God what a voice. Flawless.

I've never been into American standards, but with Linda Ronstadt's voice caressing each note, I'm sold.

I'm not born yet when she was on her prime years. I wished somehow that I was born a little earlier because I appreciated not only her songs, craftsmanship and musicianship but also her as a total person. There's no one like her. Through my hard times, I was just listening to her songs and it made me feel better. Thank you Linda, for bringing back my spirit. I promise that I will carry your songs and love for music here in my heart wherever I go.

What a talent Linda Ronstadt was, beautiful voice, excellent on stage, one of the highest-paid female vocalists of her era! We always enjoy listening to her -- STILL! Thank you Linda for what you left for us to enjoy!

I've always liked Linda's voice, and this is a favorite song of mine; she sings this old Sinatra song one of the best on this number. Now 73, she was probably at the apex of her career in the mid-'70s when I heard her perform. She certainly could sing. I didn't care much for her folk, rock, etc. songs but one cannot deny she had a great voice. So sorry she got Parkinson's but we all stop performing at some point. Hope she is as well as she can be now.

This show - Linda and Nelson in Japan is super. They had really melded by this time and Linda sounds divine.

Funny, I absolutely HATED this part of her career. This type of music was not natural to her voice, and she could never get the "feel" of this type of song. Far, far better was the Linda Ronstadt of songs such as "Long, Long Time" - kzbin.info/www/bejne/d2HUnmukpp2FmaM

She takes everything to the next level. I admire her singing potentials. Sad, she can no longer sing. I love her songs so deeply.

I really disagree with this. She was far better earlier in her career, when she sang county and country-tinged songs.

Just the first few notes of this song are powerful but Linda’s ability to pull out every subtle nuance of the song’s emotion, then belt out the big notes with such clarity take it to another dimension!

The torch I carry is handsome It's worth its heartache in ransom And when that twilight steals I know how the lady in the harbor feels When I want rain, I get sunny weather I'm just as blue as the sky Since love has gone... can't pull myself together Guess I'll hang my tears out to dry Friend ask me out... I tell them I'm busy I've must get a new alibi I stay around at home, and ask myself: who is he? Guess I'll hang my tears out to dry Dry little tear drops, my little tear drops Hanging on a stream of dreams Fly little memories, my little memories Remind me of our crazy schemes Somebody says, just forget about her So I gave that treatment a try Strangely enough, I got along without her Then one day she passed me right

This song has been recorded by many famous singers over the years, including Frank Sinatra who recorded it three times. My favorite version is by Diane Schuur. She brings all the feeling and pathos to the song with her gorgeous voice.

I had no idea there were lyrics to this tune. I know primarily as a Dexter Gordon piece. Linda Ronstadt Is a really multifaceted singer.

Listen to the Diane Schuur version released in 1992. It's fabulous, and she includes the intro to the song which most singers leave out.

Linda`s singing career cruelly brought to an end by that dreadful Parkinson`s disease..So sad....

Incomparable musicianship all around. Harsh mic, perhaps.

Linda's voice is harsh with an edge for the belts and she slurs words sometimes, her rock background. "When I want rain" is an example.
