Listening to Linda Ronstadt is very bittersweet. As the most popular and successful female singer of the 7o's , she scored many hits. She even managed to expand her pallette in the 8o's and 9o's to include Broadway musicals, movie scores, duets, old standards, a trio that included, Dolly Parton and Emmy Lou Harris and celebrating her own Mexican heritage. But these days she is battling Parkinsons Disease so we will never see her perform again. But having such a large catalog of songs gives us the chance to keep her talent close to our hearts. Try these songs, POOR, POOR PITIFUL ME, TUMBLIN' DICE, BLUE BAYOU, JUST ONE LOOK, and her remake of Smokey Robinson and the Miracles hit, TRACKS OF MY TEARS.

Somewhere out there,by Linda Ronstadt was featured in the animation movie Fival goes west, a lot of (pieces)of songs are used in movies that’s why folks can sometimes remember hearing them but can’t specifically pin point where they’ve heard it. A lot of music is also played in stores because it gives the customers a sense of relaxing while shopping so they’ll stay longer,it’s the music they grew up with.

James Ingram and Linda sing Somewhere Out There. Linda has one of the most interesting careers, her musician journey, via her recording is vast. Starting out in the Laurel Canyon folk/rock vibe early in her career, moving to a more country/rock sound in the mid 70s, to a more pop/rock (which you are listening to). Then she did the Great American song book (standards), to a Traditional Country album with (Dolly Parton/Emmy Lou Harris), and on to Mexican Traditional Music in late 80s, back to classic pop in the 90s.

Sometime in the early 1980s I went to see James Taylor in concert & opening for him was Karla Bonoff.....who originally wrote that song.

Actually first done by Little Anthony and the Imperials early 60s. She did a fantastic job. Her and Dusty Springfield are noted to covering songs as, good or better than the original. She was one of the greatest singers ever. Sadly she has Parkinson's and can't sing anymore. Tho believe she's in the Hall of Fame and sure deserved it.

This song is ok but hardly represents what she can do! “Someone to Lay Down Beside Me” would be a good one to check out. There is just so much to explore. If you are adventurous, you could react to “La Cigarra” from her Mariachi music collection. That duet you mentioned was with James Ingram.

You should give Linda's song La Charreada singing in Spanish with a mariachi band a listen and with that you will realize, Linda could literally sing any genre of music. She recorded rock and pop, old standards, opera, Spanish language and crossed over into country too. She, Dolly Parton and Emmylou Harris did two albums together and those women's harmonies are unmatched.
