Ain't it funny how time goes by so quickly. One minute your 26, watching "An American Tale" and listening to this wonderful song and the next minute your 63 and hearing it on KZbin and your crying your eyes out! It's such a timeless beautiful classic tune. That is a national treasure. 🥰

Thus it is important to be happy & grateful for the time you had together in this human form rather than sad because it's over. Much love to you!

I lost my husband 15 months ago very suddenly and unexpectedly. We had been together for a total of 22 years. I had been with him since I was only 18 years old, and he left me a widow at 40. I never in a million years could have imagined my life without him. We were supposed to grow old together and I feel so robbed. Our marriage was far from perfect, but we loved each other unconditionally and went through so much together. Even though I have been dating an incredible man for the past 7 months, who I am falling deeper and deeper in love with, I still (and will always) love and miss my husband with all of my heart. Whenever I hear this song, I immediately think of him, and I break down into a lake of tears. What I wouldn't give just to be able to hold him and hug him just one last time. I miss him so, so much.

I was 10 years old and supposed to be asleep on the living room floor of my uncle's apartment in Poughkeepsie NY but he and my mom were weeping together so loudly that I couldn't sleep. I hear this sound everyday and I'm 42. Later I understood they were saying goodbye to each other. My uncle was HIV positive and going downhill quickly. We lived in the Midwest. Thankfully we had one more Christmas with him before he died. This was his favorite song and it was played at his funeral.

Somewhere out there beneath the pale moonlight Someone's thinking of me and loving me tonight Somewhere out there someone's saying a prayer That we'll find one another in that big somewhere out there And even though I know how very far apart we are It helps to think we might be wishin' on the same bright star And when the night wind starts to sing a lonesome lullaby It helps to think we're sleeping underneath the same big sky Somewhere out there, if love can see us through Then we'll be together somewhere out there Out where dreams come true And even though I know how very far apart we are It helps to think we might be wishin' on the same bright star And when the night wind starts to sing a lonesome lullaby It helps to think we're sleeping underneath the same big sky Somewhere out there, if love can see us through Then we'll be together somewhere out there Out where dreams come true

My mom told me she took me to see this movie when I was almost two years old. After it, I kept singing this song to myself and it’s one of the greatest early memories I have been told of with her. Whenever I hear this song I think of her. She’s still with us, but in recent years, she’s become very detached. Totally cut herself off from letting anyone get close to her. I get misty now when I hear this song as a result. These two sang this so well. I didn’t even know this was Linda Ronstadt who was known for singing rock music in the 70s. She has surprisingly good vocal chemistry with James Ingram who I think is a vocal legend. No matter what happens, mom, I love you.

Linda did a lot of rock but started out as more of a country singer. She has also done operetta, American standards (from the 40s and 50s), many ballads and even some Spanish language albums which won awards. You should check out her on KZbin doing Hobo's Lament with backup vocals by Dolly Parton and Emmylou Harris; and Feels Like Home by Randy Newman. When I want a lift I listen to those.

Getting married soon and planning on recording this song for my mom and I to dance to bc when I was 10 years old my mom went to Brazil to adopt me and this song came on as she was in the plain flying from the USA to Brazil to meet me. So this song has more meaning to me in having a mother who wanted me than to see it sing as a love song to a couple. So in my case is a song that my mom saw the same moon and stars in the USA as I did in Brazil. Love you mom.

My Dad took me and my big sister to see this at the cinema and bought us the LP on route home, we played it relentlessly. We had it years later played at his funeral which he would’ve loved. Magnificent voices which always bring back such happy memories.

I think of this song whenever I reminisce of my times with my Marine Corp friends. We were all so close until they either shipped out to another base or overseas, or left the Marines and went back to their hometown. Hearing this song makes me remember all the good times and I hope they know how much they mean to me no matter where they are.
