This is the first time I've heard the extended version of this song. She was like that, always willing to share the experience with both the band and the audience. I don't recall one bad performance by her. She didn't write her songs but she did covers of others hits you wouldn't think anyone could do, like "Tracks of My Tears". Other great musicians such as Willie Nelson and Dolly Parton had nothing but praise for her. My favorite songs are "Desperado", "Willin'" and "La Cigarra" and other songs from "Los Cantas Por Mi Padre" done in Spanish although I only know a few words. You will not believe how she can sing them. Opera singers admire her although the songs are mariachi style.

Linda sings about 6 genres....at one time she had the number on song on the country and western, pop, and rock charts. She sang Coloratura Soprano opera in the Pirates of Penzance on Broadway for a year....check out POOR WANDERING ONE. she did Big Band with Nelson Riddle and his orchestra, look at What's NEW, live...they did 3 albums.....and she had the largest selling record in Mexican history singing mariachi music If you want to here the most powerful female voice listen to La Cigarra....Rock Tumbling DIce arranged by Mick Jagger. she play guitar and sings country, I CAN"T HELP IT IF I'm STILL IN LOVE WITH YOU....and on and on...

Linda Ronstadt is one of the best female singers & can sing any genre from ballads to country to rock & even opera. She also sings in Spanish. She has had so many hits such as "Different Drum", "Long Long Time", "Poor Poor Pitiful Me", "Tracks Of My Tears", "When Will I Be Loved", "Somewhere Out There" (duet with James Ingram). The Eagles were her backing band till they went out on their own & she has covered a lot of their songs. Linda also collaborated with Dolly Parton & Emmylou Harris on a few "Trio" albums. Sadly she now has progressive supranuclear palsy & can no longer sing a note.

Linda is from Tucson, AZ. In the late 1960s, she was known as the "Barefoot Princess." Linda sings and sounds better in other native languages Spanish.

LR for a few years in the late 70s was a rockstar. She was on the cover of Rolling Stone numerous times from 1975-1980. Unlike Karen Carpenter, Linda had a sex kitten image and she played that up. Linda was more apart of the California rock scene. She played with The Rolling Stones and dated Mick Jager. He called her the Queen of LA. Linda did not maintain her rock n roll image into the 80s and this is why some people are not aware that at her peak in the 70s she was a rock and pop star. Some have written that she was the first true female rock superstar that could fill large arenas. There is a great documentary about her called The Sound of my Voice and it perfectly illustrates her life and career if you care to watch. She is in her 70s now and she has a neurological disease similar to Parkinson’s and can no longer sing or walk.

I like the recorded version that I grew up listening to on the radio when it was released in 1974. She didn't write the song as with most songs she sang. Dee Dee Warwick first recorded it in 1963. Still, I recomend you react to "Linda Ronstadt - Long Long Time". This is a live version she sang on the Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour in1970 and was released in june of 1970.
