For promotions, black women came first, then black men then accountable whitey. You should move to Maryland and go to the Burtinsville hub where you will be sure to enjoy black privilege galore! Talk on your phone all day, stop for a long lunch break and walk slowly from door to door. You will never get in trouble because all the black management will look out for you and the white managers cant touch you because they will look racist. The benefits part is spot on (reason #5). The pay that I'm receiving at my current job is just ok. I know I can make more money elsewhere like my colleagues do. But the reason I stayed is because my company puts in 9% of my pay into retirement and I have the option of either match it or invest the max amount allowed. I opted for the latter and I put in 15% of my pay. That's 24% of every paycheck going straight to retirement! Other benefits at my job include 15 paid holidays per year, 4 weeks paid vacation, FREE medical/dental/vision (because I'm single), a great deal amount of autonomy and I enjoy a corner office. Sure, my colleagues are making more money but the benefits I'm getting offsets my lower pay. I've been at the same job for 18 years now.

After 18 years at the same place I would certainly expect 4 weeks as vacation at most decent jobs, and more than that if it’s PTO and includes sick leave. The question is whether you get to use that vacation. These days employees are often given so much work that they don’t use their vacation.

The 15 paid holidays is more than the average, so that’s pretty sweet.

Absolutely! If my employer is blocking me from learning ( how business works and how to improve), I waste my time with them. Time and knowledge are powerful, and we don't want to stand still in our current position. No wonder those companies fail so badly!

Thats why there are Exit Interviews when you quit. Some lash out about it and some just keep quiet.

They reason why ex employees won’t do exit interview because the employer can blacklist you. At the end of the day, we all have bills to pay.

@@tjc2993 what’s an exit interview? I’m about to put in my 2 weeks and I prefer if I don’t get asked any questions from my boss or her sidekick and my coworkers

One time my management asked me where I saw myself in 5 yrs when I told they giggled. When I resigned a few months later they were really surprised. Now, I make sure to work for companies that care and value their employees.

If they ask where you see yourself in five years, take that antiquated interview question as a red flag. Seriously.

Why am I leaving out as of 5:00pm today? No structure, culture, favoritisms, ridicule, backbiting, negativity, weight gain, depression, boss playing favorites, lack of communication, boss does not look me in the eye, gossip, micromanagement. It’s sad because I love helping people, and the job is fairly easy with good pay. But if I have to put up with all of this crap just for those positives, then I’m good. PEACE OUT IN 3 HOURS!!! ✌🏿

Number six, when you go beyond what's expected, do your job well, have the work load of three because of not hiring another to replace who quit, get fantastic reviews, have learned what was asked and find company keeps dangling the carrot with empty promises that never happen, and they still won't up the wage.

You forgot about mentioning incompetent management, mistreatment of employees, under valuing the employees time, unstructured work place, constantly changing expectations, not listening to the feedback.

People quit on all level of the food chain for those same reasons. Even middle managers'. Thank you.

As far as I know, not many of them heed this advice.

For some reason the bad employees are always treated better than the good. I just found out that one of my coworkers who does nothing but watch me do all the work, makes 4 more dollars an hour than I do. One of our best workers put in his 2 weeks and they told him he could go ahead and just quit now. And then the lazy worker put his 2 weeks in and they begged him to stay and even offered him a promotion. I'll never understand any of this

It sounds like my job. They told me they would be behind me and supportive if I decide to leave, but another employee walk around all day and keeping up mess but the boss doesn't see anything wrong with this.
