I got sick a few weeks ago and was seriously bed ridden and just miserable. I was complaining one day to my sister and she said you don’t live in Gaza. You’re fine. Literally changed my mindset. She was right. I had access to rest, hospitals, medicine, people taking care of me. I was ashamed for a minute then grateful, joyous and blessed. I shut up that minute and didn’t complain afterward at all. Although, I was still sick for a while after but grateful nonetheless. God bless the people in our lives. Thank you for the reminder. It's crazy how a simple shift in perspective can get us out of a slump. It's so true, there's always someone who has it worse and there is always something to be grateful for. Staying in a positive mind set will only help us attract more positive circumstances too ❤

Wow! I am exactly where you were at! So much that I seriously just didn't care about life anymore as I was sooo overwhelmed with trying to be the perfect person, caretaker, mother, wife, worker etc. If I didn't get everything done just exactly as it should be I would stress myself to death! I hated myself. I felt like a failure. I was getting such anxiety I did not know how to cope with it and I was physically getting sick. My heart rate, skin, weight, mind set were just awful. I came across your video and I did not want to stop on it. It scared me. It looked too hard. I knew if I could not keep up I'd feel like a failure. I looked for other videos. I was not thinking I was going to have a complete mental and physical breakdown, I was IN the middle of one. I prayed to God for help. None came. I ended up somehow coming back to your video. Led by some sort of force. I looked at you and I had already made up my mind that I did not like you. You were one of those "perfect" exercise instructors doing stuff I would never in a million years be able to do. You started to talk and I knew my prayers had been answered. I did the whole entire video with such joy. A couple of times I had to drop the weights, but guess what . I did not agonize over it. I wanted it to be fun and enjoyable. You taught me so much in 30 minutes. You changed my life totally. I am a 69 year old woman, taking care of a 92 year old mother with dementia. I worry about everything. You made me realize it doesn't have to be perfect, just accept things and stop worrying every minute of my life away and getting sick. I can't thank you enough and I can't wait to have a walk and talk again tomorrow with you. Please don't go away. People like me need you! God has done his job. !

Thanks so much for sharing all of that with me. I was tearing up as I read it. I am so happy that my video could help bring some joy during a difficult time. Choosing joy is a daily battle when the reality we are faced with constantly pulls us in the opposite direction. But the amazing thing about the human brain is that it is possible to rewire it, so little by little we can teach it to have a more positive outlook. There are no quick fixes. It's the small, daily habits that will make the most difference in the long run. We have to think of thought hygiene in the same way as physical hygiene. We are in control of both. ❤

Listening to you helped me a lot. Recently discovered I have a heart issue caused by genetics (both of my parents had heart trouble) and stress. I have health issues that have caused weight gain (hypothyroidism & Fibromyalgia). I also have sesamoiditis, scoliosis, vertigo, herniated discs alnd brittle bones. I have wrestled with my weight for 55 years. I am a perfectionist & always want to make sure everyone else is happy & everything is done perfectly. Have had several doctors tell me recently that I need to put myself first, which I have never done. I did your whole work out (the weights were hard) and appreciated you talking about stress...LINDA

Thanks so much for sharing some of your journey with me. It is becoming more and more apparent that stress/people pleasing/perfectionism and ill health are linked. The constant dissonance between what we really want and then what we actually do because of societal expectations leaves our body in a chronically stressed state. Learning to slowly choose yourself may seem very scary at first, but it is the only way to health. I have a number of walk and talks on my channel about this topic. The latest one I uploaded would be a good one too. And, knowing that you are a perfectionist like I was, don't worry if you can't make it all the way through, or have to drop the weights, or have to just march in place at times. Progress not perfection! ❤

I didn’t blame you Linda because I know you’re a nice and fair person. But I did blame the study without realizing it was done in the past. I love you too and I buy everyone of your workouts. You are my favorite instructor!!!

I've done two of your walk and talks today and I love the subject of both talks. This one specifically because your words are great reminders to be mindful of your body and self. I will be honest, I try to do this everyday but I'm not as consistent as I would like to be but the key for me is to keep trying that's all I can do. Thank you for another wonderful walk and talk! Keep them coming! Btw, I love the music as I sometimes just dance while I listen to you.

Amazing! I agree, it's just doing your best and being kind to yourself if you slip. It's all part of the journey, progress not perfection! Glad you enjoy dancing around too. I love doing that. In fact, I am thinking of filming a few freestyle dancing videos just for fun.

These talks always come at the right time. I love them and have so much gratitude for you, Linda! In January, I admitted to myself that my career has caused an immense amount of stress, which put my health at risk. So I decided to move on come summer. Once I realized that the fear of change subsided when the thought and reality of continuing became more fearful/detrimental, my decision was easy. The guilt you expressed about not doing enough physically or lengthy is something I constantly struggle with. Though I’m much kinder to myself now, it’s still something I consciously reminding myself not to do. This talk was the reminder that I needed, so thank you!

So glad it was helpful. As women we are taught from a young age that we are supposed to be super human and it is hard to unlearn this. It has taken me many years to get to the point where I am ready to put myself first and I still struggle with guilt about it all the time. It definitely is a work in progress, but we are moving in the right direction!

America has various ethnicities living in various communities. There are Hispanics, Asians and African Americans.Let’s not forget Native Americans. My problem is that it sounds a bit like segregation and not inclusive of all cultures. An American is an American period is how I see it. Although history thinks otherwise, therefore there is a lot of hate and racism in the world. That’s my problem!!!
@barlatesbodyblitz
@barlatesbodyblitz 26 күн бұрын
The study was done during a time where unfortunately there was still a lot of segregation between different ethnicities. The comparison in the study was between the Italian community and another white American community who lived in the same area and ate similar food.
