I love this, because it's so hard to find unscripted language progress videos. I know people like to show their best, but it's so much more helpful as a learner to see how someone can actually work with the language purely off the top of their head. It's discouraging to see people showing their progress in the same amount of time as me, and they're speaking flawlessly because it's scripted and rehearsed.

When she said that she has a difficult time sleeping because of random words flying around in her head, I related to that so much!!! I haven't heard ANYONE else mention that before but it's so true!!! It tormented me for the longest time lol but thank goodness it stops after a while :)
I showed this video to my Thai mom, who doesn't speak English, and she really thinks you're doing so well! Great pronunciation, fluency and just not stopping whenever you're searching for a word. You're getting your message out there which I find so inspiring and motivating! As I said, my mom doesn't speak English but she still understood you in this video due to your tone, face, hands, just describing the feelings you had when learning parts of the language (I still don't know the months haha...) She also thinks you're funny! Your humour and love of languages shines through. And that's what I think is an equally important key to communication, openness and body language and saying the words you do already know instead of trying to search for a perfect word or pronunciation. Thank you for always being an inspiration Lindie!

Your pronunciation is great for just 20 hours! You might find surprising similarity between Thai and Korean number 3-10 . Their pronunciation is very similar and they probably come from the same Chinese root. But for names of months and days you would just have to remember.

Cool tricks for Thai months' names: (especially if you're into Hindu astrology/mythology) - Every months that ends in "-ayon" ends in 30 days and "-akhom" ends in 31 days. Only Feb ends in "-aphan" - The prefixes for the months names are actually the name of 12 zodiacs signs in Thai! And they are all derived from Sanskrit. --- Basically, "Mokkara/Makawn"(thai word) = "Makara"(sanskrit) = "Capricorn" --- Kumpha = Kumbha = Aquarius --- Miina = Miina = Pisces --- Mesa = MeSa = Aries --- Phrueksapha/Phrueksop = Vrsabha = Taurus --- Mithuna/Methun = Mithuna = Gemini --- Karakada/Korakot = Karkata = Cancer --- Singha/Sing = Simha = Leo --- Kanya/Kan = Kanya = Virgo --- Tula/Tun = Tula = Libra --- Pruetsajika/Pijik = Vrscika = Scorpio --- Thanwa/Thanu = Dhanu = Sagittarius - While the name of the day is derived from Hindu Gods that rules each planets and are representative of each day. --- Aathit = Aditya = Sun God --- Jan = Chandra = Moon God --- Angkaan = Mangala = God of Mars --- Phut = Budha = God of Mercury --- Pharuehatsabawdii = Brhaspati = God of Jupiter --- Suk = Shukra = God of Venus --- Sau = Shani = God of Saturn Aside from that, the pronunciations were amazing! That was great so far! And pretty fast as well!

10:50 Hello, from Thailand. The names of Thai months are derived from the names of the zodiac in Indian texts. Therefore, there must be a suffix to the name of the zodiac for the name of the month(-ayon , -akom, -apan). It's very difficult for foreigners to remember. If you read that Mok-ka-ra is just a zodiac name. If you try to read the full month names like มกราคม(Mok-ka-ra-kom) or January, กุมภาพันธ์(Kum-pa-pan) or February, เมษายน(May-sa-yon) or April, Thai people will know how many days in a month.(yon=30, kom=31, pan=28-29) However, Thai people don't like to say their full names. I just want to talk a little knowledge.😀

There are suffixes for months if year in Thai -คม for 31 days months -ยน for 30 days months -พันธ์ for Feb All the months name can be shorten to refer to zodiacs. E.g., ธันวา -> ธนู / มิถุนา->เมถุน

I’m always so fascinated to see foreigners learn Thai since it’s so so so so hard-and that’s coming from a native 🥹 สู้ ๆ นะคะ ❤️🔥 soo soo naka!! ps. if you want to order something ‘เอาอันนี้ค่ะ’ /au an ní: kâ/ and pointing to the menu is ok!! and if you want to be more polite, I think you can replace /au/ with ขอ (khõ khor aaa I can’t type the right symbol here but it’s the same syllable as ‘warm’ ‘cord’ in English) ❣️

Your progress is super inspiring, thank you for the update! I feel like you might have mentioned this in another video, but do you keep and look back on old notebooks? I’m always torn between keeping quick, rough notes vs keeping really neat notes that are easy to re-read but take ages to make

I would be interested in a video about this! Maybe to see how Lindie's note-taking has changed over the years, or if she transfers information from old notebooks into new ones, etc. Personally, I use a couple of notebooks for learning Spanish and I don't worry about what order I go in, where I left off last time, etc. My plan is to, once these are filled, flip through them and find things I am still not confident on and transfer them in an orderly way into my new notebook.

this is SO COOL! you make me want to have a go at Thai. I'm completely committed to learning Korean but I'm so curious about tones. Also, I totally feel you on the difficulty of numbers. I can generally understand them at a slow pace, like the pace of writing and reading, but I'm hopeless at the speed of hearing and speaking them. Something interesting that has happened to me after taking a pretty long break from Spanish (I'd reached a solid B2), I seem to be understanding numbers much better than before, as if the knowledge has become more integrated into my knowledge.
