It just occurred to me that you can use the various Helix inputs for guitar changes as well. Like plug in your acoustic guitar into "return 1", and whenever that song comes up in your set, the preset will use "return 1" instead of the regular input jack. Or if you are a crazy guitarist who plays 5 guitars, you can do that too. cool!
@SteveSterlacci
@SteveSterlacci 3 жыл бұрын
Well, a muting cable will solve all of that too! But yes. You can change the preset so the primary input is a totally different instrument

@Steve Sterlacci, I'm buying Helix soon. Due to some financial hardships this summer, I had to sell just about everything I had. But I've been asked to play in an 80s Arena Rock cover band. I was curious as to how Helix holds up without backline? I realize it is completely dependent on good monitors and a good soundman. I also saw where you can do in-ear monitoring through Helix where you can blend the monitor mix, your own vocals, and guitar. This would be so cool. No more lugging a heavy rig anymore. I'm 58 and just don't want to do that ever again. Your feedback would be appreciated! You guys sound great in the video!
@SteveSterlacci
@SteveSterlacci 5 жыл бұрын
It's great overall. Even in the worst of monitor situations I'm always confident my sound out front is perfect every time. Most monitors will sound different but you get used to not worrying about it if it doesn't sound good. But most monitoring is totally fine

Steve Sterlacci any thoughts on the Powercab 212? I just bought the 212 + model and am exploring a Helix rig to replace my tube amp rig. So far, I’m struggling to replicate the tone I get from my Friedman amps. Hoping the Powercab will help get a more natural tube amp sound/feel onstage.

Awesome video Steve!! Thank you so much for making it, I've been looking for a video like this. I recently got a Pod Go and considering using it for live shows to replace my tube amp and cab. I'm new to modeling so excuse the dumb questions. Considering the outputs of the Pod Go, do you think I should invest in a 1/4" to XLR cable for the sound guy to use, or do you think most of them be able to use the 1/4" plug out. Also, it looks like you are using a floor monitor vs. inner ears. Did you bring your own monitor or do you usually use what the venue has? Thanks again man, I always enjoy your videos and tips!
@SteveSterlacci
@SteveSterlacci 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for checking it out! Totally valid questions. 1- I would get a decent DI box so the sound guy can take your XLR to the house. 2- this was a European tour so we couldn't use our in ears or travel with monitoring. I was at the mercy of each and every venue we played but luckily made it out alive. It helps knowing the sound to FOH is always crisp and exactly what i want the people hearing. I have definitely been in situations where I was less than thrilled with stage sound. That was my biggest learning curve doing the international stuff. Trusting that it sounds good out front, regardless of how you hear it on stage. Helix is a godsend lol

I would suggest giving it time to get used to. Its definitely an adjustment suddenly not having a real amp with you. The powercab is nice, but not the perfect solution. I learned to like the powercab a lot in FRFR LF RAW mode. It basically turns it into a real speaker cabinet. It is a very directional unit, so the sound stays in front of it and doesn't spread. Its a great thing in a lot of cases
