I’ve been gigging and cranking mine since 2015. Recently I decided to buy a small interface for running a guitar and mic into Logic Pro X and realized the Helix also does that job with no problem. When you factor in everything the Helix does, it’s by far the most inexpensive musical product I’ve ever bought.

Is it possible to do one for bass? Sometimes we have a practice amp without effects loop and want to use helix or pod go amp simulation

if you set your physical amp flat enough and use better judgement about overall tone, it would be possible

Great video, thanks! I have this situation where i want to run my helix with two separate paths - one for my studio monitors (in live situation PA), one for my blues junior, to mix in real time the sound of both together. So far i'm doing good, but i have a small issue which is driving me nuts - my backing track is coming from my pc in to both - amp and monitors, and it is impossible to tweak anything like this. Does anyone knows how i could set up my computers audio to go only to monitors?

Without seeing your preset, it's a bit tricky. I'm assuming you're outputting through the main 1/4" outputs to your amp. You might want to try instead routing the amp signal to one of the Send outputs and changing the output block accordingly. Again, I'm assuming your setup here. Let me know!

Hi I have a Zoom Rack Pre-Amp/Effects unit which I love the tube sounds on. I want to use this with my Line 6 Helix (Rack) and I also have a GX700 (i'm planning on using a midi cable to send changes to the Zoom) - how should I connect these together and set up my Helix ? I also have an A/B switch if this helps ?
@alex-kenivel

It depends on what you want to get out of the units you have. The Rack has 4 independent loops for each piece you want to integrate, and you could place each Loop block in the Helix signal chain with your guitar in the Helix Guitar input. This way you could route the signal through any of the Helix blocks as well as your other processors.

you have the ability to run the Helix or Helix Rack as a 4 channel mixer/splitter for 4 separate processors and add Helix blocks before or after those signals. I haven't done so myself, but in theory it is possible.

Hey there. You can either use quarter inch cables or XLR cables to channels one or two on your speakers. Keep the speaker knobs at noon (reverb off) to start off and see how loud that gets you. The two band EQ looks like a useful feature if you find the tone too bassy or harsh.

@@alex-kenivel okay so far: use the output (1/4inch) for the active monitors, and to the PA/ Mixer i could use xlr via DI or do i not really need a DI for the level?
@alex-kenivel
@alex-kenivel 2 жыл бұрын
@@chrisrexeis3054 use a DI if phantom power can't be switched off for your channel at the mixer. The DI expects a quarter inch instrument level input and gives a mic level xlr output with a transformer that blocks phantom power. At that point you'll need to run xlr cables to the active monitors or use the split off from the DI. Using the split from the DI doesn't let you disable the big volume knob from FoH

Great video . I would like to run my amplifiers preamp signal into my line 6 hx stomp is this possible. I have the peavey 6505 plus it has efexloop I think you were saying this in the video but I still dont understand..
@alex-kenivel
@alex-kenivel 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, this is possible. Connect the SEND from your amp to the RETURN L/MONO jack on the Stomp and place a RETURN block in your signal path either at the input block or somewhere in the middle -- and your preamp will be running into the Stomp. What you want to do with it from there can go a few different ways..

I like a cranked cab. If it's too quiet I'd rather just play unplugged!

Just a quick / maybe silly question: Can I run my Helix LT straight (1/4 inch) to a clean amp (small 30watt) just for home practice / use with amp mods / IRs etc. still on?
@alex-kenivel
@alex-kenivel 3 жыл бұрын
You CAN, but results may not be favorable. Running into the front end of an amp imparts the characteristics of that amp's preamp, poweramp, whatever onboard effects are available and its speaker onto your preset, basically running an amp and cab into another amp and cab. Purists will frown upon this way of connection but getting favorable results this way isn't unheard of. Just dont make any changes to your main presets when connected to the amp this way. Instead, try making a separate preset dialed in specifically for this connection and treat your blocks as "effects" as they were -- amp blocks becoming more like distortion pedals and cabs more like EQ. In short, yes you can, but it may sound strange.

I would turn the cab models of and just use the amps because your soeaker is already it's own model irs and cab models are for power speakers and head of house not to your amp combo or 412 cab or what not.

A bit late here but just saw this. I use a 1x12 cabinet and leave the cabinet and mics on. Stick the cable into your amps return input for power. Tbh at that price it should come with power like the Kemper powered rack or toaster. Anyway for some reason the helix with a real guitar cabinet can handle it for some reason. So could the atomic amplifier and players spoke about it sounding better too by leaving cabs on. Kemper no turn off cabinet. But don’t plug things in the front. It will sound horrible. I use a real overdrive, distortion or fuzz in front of an amp block in the loop. You have to hook it up in the back where it says send and return but then set the menu to loop. It helps with sound and feel. Is it as good as a great amp and pedal? No because it’s not. But they’re fun to fool with and if you gig, more convenient.

Awesome video... So I can use a stereo DI Box to send stereo signal using 1/4 inch jacks and send stereo XLR cables to two panned channel strips in a mixer? Does not matter if phantom power cannot be disabled.
