What was surprising was how extensive the connectivity and control options were on such a compact unit. 4 cable method retains. Parameter assignment to MIDI CC# or footswitches for toggling between min and max values rather than being limited to on/off states of blocks, and the snap shots feature gives 3 rig variations for saving and recalling different parameters for the rig. This pedal is great. The reduction of processing blocks to 6 is limiting, but I can appreciate having a built in gate at the input and I can patch my physical volume pedal into the series loop post amp and these free up blocks for other processors. If I need more effects I can just MIDI slave a 2nd unit. Exciting product.

The HX Stomp video that we need is demonstrating the unit in the context of a song. Guitar Center, please revisit the HX Stomp with a couple of well-known players and have them play a couple of songs each, dialing in all the tones they need for the song, breaking down their tones, but most importantly showing how they can bank up/down or use presets/snapshots to navigate the different sections of the song. We all get how great HX Stomp sounds, the features, etc. Show us how it actually functions and navigates in a real-world scenario! Because that is ultimately the difference that everyone cares about and nobody is addressing it in a practical demonstration yet.
@RezaMatix6 жыл бұрын
I totally dont want that. not interesting to me at ALL. I want to hear what it sounds like by itself first!

Jake Stewart Music You are abslutely right! We all already figured out that the sound quality is top notch. Now it's more important to see whether it is comfortable to use this device onstage!
@RezaMatix6 жыл бұрын
you never use pedals on stage before or something? yOU just step on it and it changes the sound...like ANY OTHER PEDAL.
@jakestewartmusic6 жыл бұрын
Hey, there's no need to be a jerk. There are already tons of Helix demos out to demonstrate the sounds and you can try Helix Native out for free on a 15 day trial. If you want to know how it sounds, check that out because it's all pretty much the same thing. The main differences between this and Helix are the number of blocks available per preset and the number of footswitches you have to access blocks, snapshots, and presets. For folks like myself who play professional gigs as a sideman in multiple projects, it's important to see if these limitations will compromise the performance too much. For me, the sounds don't mean much if I can't efficiently activate and navigate them on stage. Someone like Pete would be a great demonstrator for this. He could play a couple of songs off his new Pete 2 record and we can hear the sound of the HX Stomp in the mix, watch how he controls the Stomp to get all the effects he needs, and then get a breakdown of how he dialed in his sounds. Would something like that really be so terrible to watch?

I had to send back my TONEX Pedal to IKM after 3 replacements. I agree with you that the equipment you invest in and rely on playing gigs MUST be reliable. Playing lead guitar since 1965 and having invested in a lot of great gear, I NEVER had a problem with reliability. Never had to call tech support .... and these days, it seems like "tech support" is staffed with folks who have NO technical expertise. If a product really is great, you will never need that tech support ... or warranty replacements. I find myself once again shopping for a good, realistic, reliable, and durable Amp/Cab modeler. When I decided on the TONEX, I had done a lot of research online and on You Tube .... including your review of that product. Unfortunately, that was not good enough. It's a big problem when you can't get a product in your hands before you buy it. These days, it seems like a gamble. Thanks for your videos Pete.

I have some older Line 6 pedals -- the DL4, MM4 & FM4. If found the the MM4 had some great mudulaion sounds, but it was unusable because the volume drop when you clicked it on was so bad. Imagine you are at the gig, you are about ready to click your swirlies on and scream, and the sound goes away. :/ So that pedal sits in my big bin of pedals that are not on my pedalboard at present, and I am not sure if will ever emerge from the bin. Has Line 6 fixed this problem? I cannot see using any pedal -- no matter how good its effects are -- if it is going to eat my signal.

Great demo Pete! Although the HX Stomp has all of the Helix's effects, according to it's review in the May 2019 Guitar World; "the only compromise is that the maximum number of blocks that can be used to construct sounds is six instead of 32, as in the high end Helix products." Not really a criticism, I just ordered an HX Stomp myself. : )
@bonusflaps17493 жыл бұрын
I bought one of these hoping to use it to replace my current pedal board. But unfortunately it sounded terrible compared to my current reverb pedal, fuzz pedal, etc. There aren't many options for tweaking the presets and I just couldn't dial in effects I liked. James Bowman except, I already have the HX effects, and even together the HX stomp/effects are cheaper than the helix floor. For me, the pairing is more than suitable. For us home hobbyist looking for a digital recording solution, how would this unit compare to getting something like a UA interface and using amp modelers in that to record?
@thedudeofficial696 жыл бұрын
It would technically be the same in terms of tonal capabilities. The only benefit you get from having a physical unit such as HX stomp is the ability to use it outside of a DAW/studio setup. Helix Native is a very good plugin/amp sim for DAW use. I think it runs around $399, but it contains everything from the helix products. If you don't already have an interface, HX Stomp would be a more cost effective option all in all. Either way, you get the ability to record guitars and bass. Most of the other plugin based products that are a bit cheaper are focused towards metal, and have little versatility whatsoever. Cheers!

Line 6 is not technically the same as Universal Audio and the Line 6 isn't "exactly the same as my Binson etc" sheesh - it's an okay product but talk about smoke and mirrors! Ford make okay products they don't make vintage Chevvys and they don't make Lamborghinis ..
@thedudeofficial696 жыл бұрын
No, HX Stomp(or really any other guitar-based modelers) isn't meant for vocals, and it doesn't have XLR in/out which work as main ins and outs for vocals/mics. Also, very true Mark, it is in a way smoke and mirrors, as it's not an "all purpose" interface, but rather just a designated way to use the product easier with the internal sounds.

I'd be surprised if fractal didn't compete with this. Even headrush has a tiny version...

Hey Pete, what was that 412 greenback IR you were using? Killer!
@Dennis66616 жыл бұрын
It more than likely a IR from celestionplus.com. Best IRs I own. I’m guessing that because he didn’t mention an actual cab ir. Just the speaker. That’s how Celestion does it. They don’t model cabs. Just their speakers. He mentions their IRs in a lot of his videos as well

@@Dennis6661 I think you're right. I have the Celestion Greenback 412 Closed Back IRs. Trial and error just now I found that the 121+57 IR matched really close to what he's getting. It's a really well captured IR without flubby lows and has some nice sizzle on top.

Dennis - looks like they use cabinets. How else could you get sound? Buy all 5 G12H (55) IR cabinets (1×12 open, 1×12 closed, 2×12 open, 2×12 closed and 4×12 closed) in one pack, to save 40% compared to buying them separately.

They don't use specific branded cabs. They probably have to mount them in something regardless. I'm sure they've got some kind of neutral cab that they know the response of to tailor around and make sure you're getting the specific tones each speaker reproduces.
