I got one of these a few years back from my local music shop when I had joined a friends band and needed a new amp for a gig. It was a steal at like 120 USD and I fell in love with it. Got it set up to my tone and we killed the gig, the old heads and elitist were impressed the sound I got out of the amp. I'm by no means a gear head so I didn't know much about why they were surprised but I'm glad I got it because it's a monster in my opinion! 🤘🏾😁

Iv'e had this exact amp for a couple of years now and so know the good and the bad. I mainly play a Gibson SG through it and a good quality fender strat copy. The good: For the money (especially now as you can pick them up cheap) it is amazing value with so many features. As Simon demonstrates, saving the sound you have created (and naming it yourself which he doesn't show) is brilliant as you can mess for hours getting it just right then come back tomorrow and it's in memory. -4 separate memory buttons. You can plug an MP3 player into it (dedicated input) and play along or use backing tracks. The tuner is helpful but if you haven't the ear you might need a Hz tuner. It's loud - quarter volume at home will shake the windows :) It' has a solid, heavy, well built cabinet and a very good speaker that doesn't distort. The bad (and nothing is really bad) After a month or so, you wont use all the preset selections. Most sound nothing like the guitar they are supposed to be emulating. The guitar input plug is a little fragile - just a plastic locking nut holding it in. Any knock on it and the socket will disappear inside. An absolute pain to get it back. The preset selection 4 way wobble button is a bit cheap and nasty and awkward to manipulate. Strange omission because all the other knobs have a lovely solid feel A much longer echo would have been nice. I have a separate echo effects pedal and it's much better than this. Don't read too much into the 'bad' they are more niggles than bad. I play mine every day and get some superb sounds from it For instance: I wanted the lead guitar sound for David Bowie's Rebel Rebel. I listened to the song on youtube and messed with the settings until I had it exact. Then I saved it to the memory.

Nice review. I borrowed this amp for awhile from a friend. Sound is great for practicing in the bedroom. But higher volumes sound like shite. Early 80's Marshall 5203 combo and pedalboard sounds much nicer and is closest thing to a jcm800 than anything I've played. At just under 300 USD is still a bargain imho, but the line 6 will get the job done.

Did you ever have overheating problems with this amp? I just bought the 120 watt 2x10 version used from a local music store. It was missing the delay knob but i threw on a non-matching replacement and it works fine. Other than that its in excellent condition. It came with the footswitch/volume pedal. I've heard storys about these amps having overheating problems and Im concerned about my investment

+Len Jennings you can connect your synth to the aux (CD) input and it will work. But your synth won't sound as good as plugged in to a PA. The guitar speaker just doesn't voice those frequencies well enough to give your synth justice.

I have this amp. I also have a Roland GR-55 Guitar Synth. Can I use it in conjunction with this amp? I know I have to set my my GR-55 to go to an amp versus a line or P.A.. That's about all I know.
@JeffKastner9 жыл бұрын
Len Jennings Yep. I have both as well and you can do it but you're just making the Spider more of a speaker cabinet by doing that (not using the Spider's effects and just using the GR-55). Both units have sounds I really love but for playing out, I'd just pick the one you like the best and stick to that (I bring the Spider for a backup amp). Get an RC-300 and you'll really love the setup.

if you can't dial in a good sound on a modelling amp then no amp is gonna make you sound good little buddy. Don't believe the hype its a decent amp and has decent speakers too. Even A jcm800 sounds bad if its being played by someone who has no idea what they are doing.

Simon Smith I just bought it yesterday and yeah its pretty cool... when i turn the volume up half way or more.. the speaker buzzes though.. Idk if i need a speaker or what but it sounds good at lower volumes.. A replacement celestion speaker only costs 70 bucks so if i have to replace it I will stil have gotten a great deal.. This amp is for noobs tho.. it has a lot of stuff I wont use.. So im trying to find someone with a Fender champion to trade.. The fender has 2 12's and 100 watts..with lots effects built in.. This is a good amp, but Id rather have a fender that only has the things on it that i will use..the drum tracks and mic recording are useless to me. I wouldnt record a mic with a guitar amp lol
@jarekdrobiecki61477 жыл бұрын
It sounds bad.. if You turn knobs to 10, don't get mad with it and it can produce nice tone. But a lot of people has kind of a 'gain fever' and then a lot of amp sound like trash truck. And use your volume knob on a guitar too. Spiders ARE good for home.
