Man the tone coming out of the Blackstar is truly impressive. Super crunch with a little verb and delay and you're golden. I have a Friedman BE50 Deluxe in my living room but use this little practice amp all the time. It's surprisingly good.

For recording direct the quality of the Spider V is light years ahead of the ID Core. However, when played in the room, did you use the Full Range setting instead of the "Classic" setting in the Spider V?

I have the Blackstar, no real control over the tone with a neck humbucker high gain, it's muddy or less muddy. Had to add a pedal with good tone control, an eq actually dudnt seem to work, added nux plexi crunch and a noise reducer, bearing that in mind the £100 Blackstar setup now cost me £170. So i would in future steer clear of any amp without decent tone control.

I just updated my amp software to 2.00 and it creates so much noise like a blownout speaker, any ideas on how to fix this?

Change the speaker no one inside is crappy and it’s a cheap fix

@@CedricEA Oh , right, it's a recurring problem with Line 6 , in fact the emulation is quite good but it's the speaker inside that always causes problems And it's valid for almost all their models except some old ones But if you have already brought it back, the problem doesn't arise anymore, what do you think of the Katana ?

Hii I'm having real trouble connecting my spider v 20 to my windows pc... I just used a micro USB to USB A and it doesn't even detect my amp. I've downloaded all softwares and I'm helpless

is there actually any point to this video pretending to be a brand and equivalent model comparison video?!!! Seems a brazen loaded advert for the Line 6 IMV. Seriously?!. The way you've configured and recorded the Blackstar ID:Core sounds just dreadful in relative comparison HERE, but the fact is they just don't sound like that IRL. I call this bias rigged. And next time, do 'like for like' 20W vs 20W and learn to configure the amp. Owning a V1 (5 years) & V3 ID:Core 40 and knowing the ID:Core amps well, I can tell you haven't. Utterly pointless other than as a promo for Line 6.

I have used the Blackstar Core 20. You can never get the highs loud enough to cut through using the ISF. This video reflects my experience.

@@bluebay0 To cut through what? It's a 10W SS home practice amp FFS! Tool -> job. In any case, why on earth is he comparing a pi$$y 10W ID:Core with a 20W Line 6! If he wanted to do a meaningful comparison, he should have chosen the ID Core 40 V3 which at (AUD$299) is still $30 cheaper than the Line 6 Spider 20 Mk II (AUD$329) in my country. I have two ID:Core 40s among my other amps. An original (V1) I've had for five years and a V3 which I recently bought new for AUD$249 taking advantage of an eBay promo. Nothing whatsoever shabby about them, but they are NOT gigging amps nor intended to be, and make no pretence to be loud enough to play over drums if the drummer is a hard hitter. Configured properly using the ID:Core's voices including Super Wide Stereo with effects, they reproduce high end just fine externally audially. A lot of people who buy ID:COREs are nubs buying on specs and haven't a clue how to patch or use those voices, don't apply effects or Super Wide Stereo leaving it in manual mode. Modelling is really wasted on them.

@@bluebay0 It's possibly the default voicing you had chosen. I noticed with the V3 I have, even on the two clean channel DEFAULT voicings, the mid and bass response has more prominence than on my original (V1). I do hear what you are saying about ISF vs individual Treble-Mid-Bass controls though. In the case that's a important to the buyer, obviously a different choice is wise. I've never found ISF present a problem for my purposes personally, and I use mine almost every day frequently playing a lot of chimy (bright) early Beatlesque material. I do have other amps for performance with USB out for recording though which do have complete control over treble-mid- bass and some, presence and resonance as well if I need it.
