Which metal is best to make pins and busches under which name and number. for excavator busches
@rmelt.26942 жыл бұрын
Hi, I normally used chrome shaft 4140 or induction hardened 4140 for pins. For sleeve you can use 4140 and harden it. If you don’t want to buy a finished hardened sleeve.

A lot of comments here about why do boring and welding when there are bushings. If they could see how bad of shape the loader arm and bucket bosses are on the 966-D Cat loader I am getting ready to start on they wouldn't have a clue where to begin. It even has a bent loader arm just above the boss I have to heat and bend back as close to alignment as I can get first off then line bore both bosses, weld them up and bore again to bushing size. And because I can't yet justify spending that much money for a machine like this with welding attachment right now I'm doing the job with a local machinist built bar that will be driven with a brand new Millwakee 4206-1 variable speed mag drill at a cost of $1500.that's on it's way right now and two flange bearings and one pillow block at $300.+ and change two 6"× 8"×3/4" steel plates drilled and tapped for mounting bearings and welding support brackets to, a set of cones made by my machinist for aligning bar in holes, then I'll be doing all the welding by hand old school, using 3/32" LH 7018 rod and my Lincoln 300 SAE Redface .... Anyone feel brave enough to help?
@rmelt.26945 жыл бұрын
Hey, Ron sorry for my late reply. I just saw your comment right now. On your work much better to straighten first the bent arm and make sure that it is parallel to the upper pin housing. Those two pinholes above my work make it your base to measure the right distance of the lower bushes of the arms from left to right. Just like you said to make it as close as possible before you run it with line borer or whatever you have. Make sure that you get the right alignment and centre setup before you weld, much easier if your bearing bracket is adjustable that you can get the closest centre. Your machinist can do that for sure. Now it's up to you if you want to bring it back to the original size or get the oversized O.D. bushes with the same I.D. No problem on your 7018 welding rod. About the boring bar use chrome plated 4140 and make sure that it is long enough same the one that I am using because you have to set it up one time only. You need four bearings or three to reduce the vibration. Make sure that you clamp the base of your mag drill because it's not strong enough to hold the cut..

Hello 👋 Please dear I want to buy like this machine how much it may cost
@rmelt.26942 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the late reply sir. The brand is Climax, made in the USA, the model is BB5000. In the Australian dollar, it is around 60,000.00 including accessories.
@steam_fan4 жыл бұрын
how do you find the centre if the bore has become oval shaped?
@rmelt.26944 жыл бұрын
Hi Steam, You can use the outside diameter for centring. If outside diameter is not available then make your centre close as possible to the oval of the bore. It's like centring on four points, and the other two points are offset.

Hey Gommer, I can't say the price because I'm working in a private company and they own all heavy equipment. My workmate told me that your price is close if we compute it to $50.00/hour then you will get 500 in ten hours or 1 day.

DAMN!! WTH was that pre-cut? .150?? I guess you could do that with such a fat bar. My machine is only running the 1-3/4 bar so I could run .040-.060 at a time.
@rmelt.26944 жыл бұрын
Hey Mike that bar is 1 3/4, but the boring head is too strong that I can give a cut of more than a quarter if I want and much more on my other bigger bar. I’m using BB5000 boring head.😁

Curious why they dont just bore it out to accept a press fit hardened bushing of a nominal size. Pin and bushing come in all shapes and sizes. you have inch/metic and special manufacturer sizes. Aka need a part, gotta buy from us size
@rmelt.26945 жыл бұрын
Hey James, your idea is also good. I did that in a situation like, if the dealer is run out of stock or sometimes if we want to save money then we buy hard sleeves to a different company. I ordered bigger in diameter and same inside diameter. The one on the video if we want to bring it to original size and shape, I can easily do that by using the auto bore welder because everything is already set up.

Bore and bush = done, welding is an unneeded expense unless the bore is broken..
@rmelt.26945 жыл бұрын
Hi, Merlin your idea is good also sometimes I did that, but many times don’t. I’m working in a company that the quality is a must the hard sleeve that we used is always OEM. Means that I have to bring the bore to its original size. In case that the bore is broken then I need to fabricate two new ones, weld it and linebore again to get the perfect alignment. All the machines that we have are own by the company and we are private not unlike commercial workshop that always rely on alternative solution to get more profit. Thanks😁👌
