Line Fire burns over 7,100 acres, forcing evacuations in San Bernardino County

Evacuation orders are in place as the Line Fire continues to burn with no containment on Saturday.
The fire first ignited on Thursday night near Baseline Street and Alpin Street in Highland. After a period of rapid growth, the blaze grew to 3,832 acres on Friday night. By Saturday around 4 p.m., the fire expanded to 7,122 acres with zero percent containment.

I have seen dry grass burn (plenty of those in Australia), it depends on the terrain (hilly slopes burn upslope fast), wind speed and direction, amount of moisture in the grass, and fuel density (tons/acre). You are over-generalising.

I saw the beginnings of this fire on Friday. It was small. I drove by and there were tons of fire crews just watching it. I thought they would for sure put it out. I don’t know much about fire but I thought it was weird that they weren’t really doing anything, especially since the fire was right above housing communities.

California does not do logging of the forest .They don’t do prescribed burns as much as the other western states. It’s managed by a bunch of radical liberals.
