Hey Alan! Looks like you had another nice day of weather! I’m the guy who was behind you on Little Mell Fell this week. Lovely to meet you! I was also glad you were there in front. I’d decided to come down the east and work round, but it was a LOT steeper right-to-left than I’d bargained for, and it really useful to me to look at you and think, “Well he hasn’t fallen off, so I should be ok!” 😂
@AlanMETALMAN

Ah, nice one and funny enough I was just looking at that footage yesterday (not done the video yet) and saw you were coming down behind me but did not have any idea until I was almost at the bottom. That video will be going up in two weeks time (Sunday 14.00) as next weeks video will be Great Mell Fell and I took the steepest route up I have ever taken, man was it steep, still don't know how I made it lol. I will stick to the traditional route next time. Thanks for visiting, real good of you to watch and take the time to leave a comment, very much appreciated, cheers Alan

The elation of being out in the hills again was clear to see in this video, gave it a real feel good vibe😊👌. What a gorgeous fell, we will add this to our list, really like that you have two options to climb it, you could even see how you feel on the day😊👍. Brrr that wind did look biting! 🥶. But so worth it when the sun came out for you at the summit. 42 years married to the lovely Mrs metalman, that is amazing 🥰👏. So nice that you could get back out again Alan, windy and sunny but it did look cold :) Congratulations on 42 yrs of marriage and I loved how when you have a tiff you puzzle Mrs M with what you say and escape to your man cave 🤭 hubby Alf escapes to our garden summer house and shuts the doors 😄 We are like you and hardly argue as we are both quite laid back but he does like the summerhouse ! This was a fabulous place and great that it has a well defined path and I loved the views at the summit where the sun came out and you did the panoramic view. Great video Alan :) ~ Anna 👍

Yay the Metalman is out and about again, couldn’t be happier! Yasmin and Alistair, two of my all time favourite channels. The smiley, nothing bothers her Yasmin and the Wainwright back from the dead incredibly knowledgeable Alistair. Could there be two better Lake District channels to recommend? Absolutely not, mega love for both. Happy upcoming Anniversary Alan, we are learning so much from your lovely marriage, we are just starting a pot up to do a Metalman date night. Your a legend! Love your energy, have so much to learn from your relationship! 42 exceptional years! Here’s a great question, lets invite 50 youtubers around for dinner, who would we invite? I think im very clear! So many like minds on this platform. Alan you look very fit and healthy, brought a real tear to my eye to see you back out and about, wish we had easy links to the Lakes, going to miss them this Winter, but we will be back! How could we not? We saved the best to last, this was truly EPIC! Fully onboard with your love of these fells. ❤

Thanks so much for your kind words and that would be an interesting dinner with 50 other KZbinrs, my job is always the washing up and man there would be a whole lot of it, especially if they were all as hungry as me🤔 . I always watch Yasmin and Alistair both lovely people and they channels are both seriously undersubscribed, so always nice to try and give them a helping hand so others can see how good they are. I always say if ever we won big on the lottery I would move over to the lakes and make sure all of our family all had nice house within walking distance, just need those numbers to come up first😉. @@AlanMETALMAN like minds, mine has always been the washing up too! That would be a huge curry left for Jill to cook though! We get the lottery (euromillions) most weeks, I don’t like even checking them. I prefer to sit on the ticket for days on end, so we can say to each other “oh we could be sat on millions”, “still not checked that winning ticket”. Thats the best bit for me! It's a real nice one peter and a nice walk up that Old Corpse Road and I will be back taking my grandkids up there in the summer but I think I will go down the same way I went up, nice and easy, which will suit them, especially the youngest one who is only 3 years old. Nice bit of free parking at the base as well but get there early for that. Yes, just down the road so it would be nice and local for you, together with Sale Fell too. Nice free parking at Thornthwaite and across the road a direct route up to Barf, which I 'do not' recommend, really steep and an awful scrambley bit 2 thirds of the way up too. Great to be back out again Stu, especially over the lakes, it was a long 2 months away. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan

@@AlanMETALMAN Yeah that route up Barf is not for us 'oldies' Alan. I will do Ling-fell as you suggest, then instead of doing Sale-fell I will go the opposite way towards Lords-seat and Barf, then down through Whinlatter forest back to Thornthwaite, ideal for us....👍👌.

Thanks so much for watching and your very kind words, which I appreciate. It was so mice to be back out again and I felt like breaking into song, in fact, on next weeks video I do😳. My New Years Resolution this year was to do more wildcamping and I have already got a wild camp booked with Alan from 54 Degrees North (when it is warmer) and we may also be doing another one with Nick from Gen X too, so defo a lot more camping. I have a brand new tent (Wild Country Helm 1), which I bought just before lock down and only used once (in the back garden in lock down), so I must get some use out of it and sell my old one. I want to do more Northumberland hikes but my guide (Eddie Caisley) seems to have stopped hiking and uploading, I hope it was nothing I said🤔, fingers crossed he is 'back out' (Andy Wardle😅) in the warmer weather, cheers Alan

Great video as always Alan. You seemed very happy today - did you take extra pills?!! Looked a bit cold up top but you were well wrapped up. I definitely wouldn't describe you as old and knackered, keen as mustard maybe. As for the young ones, well there's no substitute for experience. Didn't catch it properly at the beginning but did you say someone drove into the back of your car? That can be nasty, but you showed no ill effects. Funny, I've never seen you fall before but you are probably focusing hard when you are walking with us!! Looking forward to your next one, Regards, Ashley
