What tide height was it? What would be the safe tide height for sf bay fishing please? Thnx for sharing

Hey I can’t remember what the tide height was but I would be more wary of how big the tidal swing is if fishing under the gate. I chose a day where there were smaller tides that pushed me into the bay and then back out once the tide turned.

Kayak Fishing with Matt yeah there are some decent ones in the bay for sure. Bonita point and all those little spots along the headlands are also great when the weather is bad.

Hey Owen, I don’t disclose where I launch from because people get upset about spot burning. But I can say I’ve never launched from the presidio yacht club! 😉

I’ve caught an almost legal lingcod off that jetty. There’s also a lot of eel there. Always wondered about launching out over there.

Reelin it With Jake nice! I know there’s rockfish around but was surprised by the lingcod. Be careful if you do launch over there, weird currents and if you miss the landing you’re out the gate pretty quick!

Kayak Fishing with Matt yea I think that’s why not many people launch from there since the current is pretty strong being so close to the gate. I do want to try at least once though!

Reelin it With Jake yup! Just make sure you check the tides/weather and buddy up. Fortunately the coast guard station is at the launch spot for worst case situation

It’s a standard three way swivel with a dodger then a slip mooching rig and a frozen anchovy. I’ve switched to krippled anchovy with hard tied hooks recently instead of the slip mooching rig. Hope that helps! ✌️

Neuroshamanist hey thanks! Yeah we had a sheriff pull up while we were launching, Eddie saluted them and they saluted back. We took that as a go ahead to launch. I’m staying local as to limit travel but feel like going out in my own kayak is a safe way to practice social distancing while getting essential outdoor exercise! Plus if I actually catch a keeper I can avoid the grocery stores 🤷‍♂️ 😂 😷
