You want it to puddle where the worst rust and pinholes would form - the bottom corners where water would pool, separated from the gas.

Thing I know about Evaporust is that it works much faster if you heat it up to about 90-100 degrees. 140 degrees is the hottest water you can stand.. so 90-100 is nothing. Setting it on one of those oil filled electric radiator heaters works swell. Rinse the piss out of it.. to remove any black slime of converted iron .

In 2001 I used the por sealer on my pre war Harley. It had some pin holes and I wanted to keep the patina so I tried it and it worked amazing. You could see a few spots on the outside the coating popped though. But it’s still holding gas But for the last decade I have used caswell and it’s for sure my go to now. Doesn’t take the prep as por does. Even tho por did me good caswell is what I always use now.

Did you remove the gas cock in on the left tank or leave it in during the process.?

I did remove it then used masking tape to prevent the epoxy from filling up the threads and such.

I got the smallest one they had, it was for the 5 gallon tanks so you will have some leftover.

Just a thought. I would have liked if you had showed the inside of the tank before and after the lacquer thinner and why did you use evapo rust in one and not in the other. And you used a gallon of one and maybe a quart of the other?

Those are good questions. Thank you it's stuff like that that can make me make a better channel. I should have showed the tank before I didn't think about it. The evapo rust in that one was because that one is the one I had to cut open to work out the dents. I bead blasted it before I welded it so it was prone to flash rust. The other one just needed beadblasting but I did line it to. I like that stuff best I ever used. The bad damaged tank was real thin metal so I wanted to reinforce it that's why I used more.

Doesn’t work with fuels containing small amounts of ethanol. I have two tanks to prove it.

Thanks for the tip. I normally just run straight gas in my vintage bikes but that's a good thing to know if I use this in one of my newer bikes.
