My main concern with this process (copying and moving) that I think was not addressed in this video is space. For example, if I am copying (or even linking) 1TB from an external drive, does that mean that I will also have to factor in my vault(s) needing an extra 1TB of space? And what if I don't copy or move the folders into Mylio Pictures? Where will they appear? Finally, can we not just import an entire external drive rather than linking, copying, or moving folders only?

Hi @JadeSambrook - I'm happy to address your questions. 1. If you copy or link media (let's say 1TB of files), then yes, your Vault(s) would also need to have an additional 1 TB of space available. A Vault in Mylio Photos holds everything in a single location, so adding new media would add to the space required on the Vault(s). 2. If you Link a folder (rather than copy or move), this folder will appear in the top level in the Folders view, underneath the heading for the device it was added from. Linking a folder in Mylio tells the application to watch this new location for files and changes. 3. Link, Copy, and Move are the only options because Mylio Photos does not physically hold your media. It points to where it lives on your computers and other storage. Linking adds a new location for Mylio to watch while copying or moving adds media to a folder that Mylio is already aware of. I hope that helps! Please let me know if I can offer any further clarification. ~Angela

When I started Mylio I Linked the files I had and modified quite a few. If I want to move to Copying them into Mylio and manage them there how would that be done? Willl loose the changes I already made to those photos if I do?

Hi - Most of the changes you make in Mylio Photos are saved in XMP sidecar files. If you remove a linked folder from your catalog, and then choose to import those same files via a Copy import, any metadata changes, including dates, face tagging, keywords, etc. will all be read via the XMP file. The only things are are not saved in XMP and that will be lost if you proceed are Categories and Albums. Those would need to be re-created after re-importing. ~Angela
