Hello guys, gals, non-binary pals, and waterfowls! It’s me Big Mike and in this video we are going to be looking at one of the biggest issues plaguing the internet and that is Link Rot (Also known as link breaking, link death, and reference rot). We are going to be looking at what it is, what causes it, what problems it causes, and what we can do to fight against it. What roles can permalinks and persistent identifiers such as ARKs, DOIs, Handle System references, PURLs, or content addressing play? Also how can archives such as Internet Archive (The Wayback Machine), WebCite, archive.today, Perma.cc, Amber, or Arweave help in the fight against link rot?
