That guy in the middle is not wrong, Zelda is more realistic in terms of what is possible, but that is cause the whole entire MEANING behind link is that you can relate to him, project yourself to him, you are link, it's also the reason when you name the file, you also name the name link is called by in game, so that, if you want, you can use your name, and be as much of link as humanly possible, it's also why they tried making him slightly more badass in games such as TP and SS (to name a few) Cause since you are supposed to BE link, making HIM more badass, will make YOU feel more badass, AND it's also the reason he does not talk, cause having a voice actor, or even speaking lines, takes some level of relateability, but is he does NOT talk, you are able to think what you want about dialog instead of having to go with what Link says, that's why link STILL DOES NOT TALK in BoTW when almost EVERY STORY IMPORTANT CHARACTER DOES, and don't for a SECOND say he is not a 'Important Story Character' cause you CAN NOT get more 'Story Important' then the character who is both the Main Protagonist *AND* The character you control in the game, also, although you never brought up his inability to jump, that is only cause it aloud for mor puzzles requiring going up, so for those out there who think that should have been a limitation the the battle, it wouldn't, kind of like Mario, he never talks in the game, but he CAN talk, not only in random gibberish in the 'Mario & Luigi' Spinoffs, but also in the 'Nintendo Power' Comics, wich ARE canon, cause 1. It's a comic literally *WRITTEN BY NINTENDO* i don't even need to explain more, that's about as Canon as it gets, but in case you say "it still can be non-canon" then, yes, your right, but Nintendo said is WAS, so... it is a fucking amazing coincidence that final fantasy Dolts all seem to overlook ONE CRUCIAL fact in Why Link beat Cloud. The Master Sword Repels Evil you know like the Jenova cells in Cloud? The blows from the Master Sword where hurting him a lot more than even he could believe. That's why he got more and more aggressive and got more and more sloppy, and played into Link's hands. Also toss in Fierce Diety Mask, Guardian Potion + and the potion medal and Cloud would have no chance what so ever.

the jenova cells were part of an experiment relating t sephiroth and reunion, not to ability enhancement. Cloud and zack both were immersed in a tank of mako for a couple of years! The heightened abilities come from Mako infusion and training, not jenova cells. In advent children, Geo-stigma is the affliction of jenova cells within the body that the body fights off and overcompensates. When he was showred in water from aerith's spring that formed in her garden in her church in midgar, we see the geostigma affliction on clouds skin vanish, and later sephiroth remarks that his geo-stigma is gone. So yes, advent children does state clearly that he is free of jenova cells.

I thought I was the only one who noticed that. Most people complain about cloud getting frozen, though I generally let that one slide, because he immediately breaks out of it, and it changed nothing about the fight. My biggest issue with the fight is that Link should have never had the ability to regain his sword. The boomerange should not have been able to stun cloud, and yet somehow it did.

The stun wasn't a status effect, it was a boomerang hitting with enough force to kill giant spiders and the like. Ribbin doesn't ignore physical injury. He got blindsided and a hard hit to the back of his head. Attack, not Status effect.

SpaceRodan I'd be inclined to agree with you, but... I can't really. Looking past the fact that Cloud is indeed a super soldier and should have easily been able to tank an attack that... In Legend of Zelda, the boomerange almost ALWAYS stuns enemies for a few moment as a status ailment of sorts, and in final fantasy the status alments Paralysis and Stop are both comparable to being stunned. It also doesn't help that in the fight, cloud was very clearly frozen in space, unable to move. He wasn't just knocked back, or thrown off balance. He was stunned... or paralyzed if you were to use a term from final fantasy.

link is proof that strong gear can make up for mediocrity. Not saying that lin himself is mediocre, but in this fight...yeah. His gear won him the fight, no question. That's my opinion on the matter, and if you think otherwise, then thin about this. If both cloud and link had all their equipment replaced with let's say, basic steel equipment, and no extra items, just your weapons, shield and armor, and then fight with only their inherent abilities. How confident are you then that link will still win? Food for thought. Peace out.

Possibly, but Link does have more experience than Cloud. If Cloud gets his magic, than so does Link, and they kinda can negate each other, as Link has defensive and offensive spells, as well as the ability to teleport away. And, of course, it all depends on your definition of 'normal'. Much of Clouds 'talent' comes from his strength and speed, both of which are attributed to his planet-poison shenanigans. Link also has strength and speed rivalling that of Cloud, but Link's is more reliant on natural skill and yes, his various items. However, in a pure skill fight (no superhuman abilities or items), I still think Links overwhelming advantage in experience and skill would trump Cloud. Cloud has experience from one soldier. Link has all the experience from all of the Links before him, generation through generation. Saying that Cloud would naturally beat Link without items is like saying that Captain America would naturally beat Iron Man or Lex Luthor without items, because one relies on superhuman abilities gained through some form of drug/substance/poison, and one relies on intelligence and the gear they use to make up for their physical disadvantages versus opponents who are on par with gods.

I'd like to add a few thoughts of my own, gentlemen:If Cloud used his Firaga materia, Link could possibly use that to his advantage by firing an arrow towards it and have said material via Fire Arrow since it's in his (Link's) capabilities and as near as I can tell, Link can slow Cloud down with his ocarina and the song that slows down time (I don't know the name of it) plus, Link doesn't summon fairies; he carries them in separate bottles like he does with healing and magical potions.

As for how he countered the Omnislash- look closely, you can see the Z-Targeting symbol around Cloud as he flies around. This is rationalized in the analysis as extreme reflexes.

I'm with Shane on this one except I also see Link's powers as well. Link is an amazingly skilled swordsman and tactician. His use of all his skills and equipment make him very dangerous but not to people like Cloud. Here me out this battle had 5 major flaws. 1: The Hylian Shield is not a perfect defense, remember it can be stripped from him like with the Like Likes. 2: Cloud can dodge freaking bullets or even deflect them with his giant sword, that means he can move at the speed of sound or faster, when Lin k used his hookshot were they implying that it took less than a nanosecond to reach his blade and come back because that's bull crap. 3: Cloud's endurance is enough to be sliced and diced by a god multiple times and still keep going, he fell who knows how many hundreds of feet from a reactor to the sector 7 slums, with no damage he just passed out, link may be strong but he can't do much more than that to someone who moves so much faster. 4: Z-Targeting is not a skill Link has it is a game engine to help the players. Using that is like using the turn based combat of Final Fantasy 7, and let's face it if Link isn't in the back row defending when Cloud attacks he's done. Lastly, BOMBS!!!! Cloud would not have been killed by a few small bombs. Not only could he dodge them with speed, but as stated before his endurance is way beyond that, not even attacks from meteors or planet busting monsters can stop him, not explosions from hundreds of feet in the air followed by a great fall, and dare I say it, Materia has more damaging impact than a simple bomb: I.E. Fire 2 > 1 Bomb. Now in no way am I saying Link is weak, or that he can't win, but with the way they portrayed it it was distorted information. It's like his skills were enhanced to give link the edge, kinda like the Z-Targeting skill. Either way, he should have used Naru's Love or Din's FIre or something magical to attack with, even Faraore's teleporting power would have been enough to secure him a good attack, but no they left them out completely.

Every death battle has a moment when someone looks to be winning from both sides, then they change it up to build the suspense. They also make sure to use almost everything they talked about pre-fight. So it seemed like they have to throw the hookshot in there somehow (as one example).

Every incarnation of the Hylian Shield that has the potential to be destroyed by any means is canonically a replica of the original in Skyward Sword Links possession, which was crafted by the Thunder Dragon Lanayru to be completely indestructible (withstanding hits from Demise, a god-like demonic entity), resistant/impervious to magical attacks, making it the shield they likely would have used. 2. The only reason Cloud was able to hit Link in the first place was because Link threw his boomerang away behind Cloud. While Cloud was hitting Link, the boomerang came back and hit Cloud, giving Link the opening he needed. 3. Link has also survived tremendous falls, and has also been sliced and diced by god-like entities. While Cloud might be very fast, Links indestructible shield, gauntlets and instant tracking would have made it very difficult for Cloud to land even a single hit on him. 4. Yes, it's a game engine, but it is also implied that it is a skill that Link and his fellow Hylians possess. In Twilight Princess, for instance, Link is complimented for his Z-targeting skills and asked if someday he can teach his techniques on to the little kids of his village. 5. Yes, the bombs would not have killed Cloud. They didn't. Link used the bombs to blow Cloud into the air, and you can hear his distinct cry as he uses his sword. My guess is that he would have used the ending blow to impale cloud when he was airborne. Yes, Cloud has survived impalement, but the unusual pillar of light indicates Link used some form of magic to enhance the blow. And, of course, he had just been sliced nearly in two from the Master Sword.

I think a few summons fire their giant attacks from space and I don't think Link can hit an opponent all the way up in space and Shiva's Diamond Dust attack would have frozen him then she would have shattered him since the shield doesn't prevent Link from being frozen by magic attacks an example being the ice sculpture enemies in the Ice Cavern from LoZ: Ocarina of Time.

Honestly all it would have taken is Cloud using a shield materia and/or time materia. Shield materia would have made it to where Link could not hurt Cloud at all. Time materia can cast "Stop" which would completely prevent Link from using Z blocking. It is just a death battle that they could not go all out on because favoritism would actually be a thing with Link vs. Cloud. Cloud by all means is the stronger of them when no limitations are set. That is not to say that Link could not beat Cloud, just that FF gives capabilities that Link could not deal with.

How would Link deal with time materia? He may be able to manipulate time with his ocarina, but if he is completely frozen and can be kept that way. Fierce Deity could be removed as well as other items mentioned. Though in the case of the armor, it could pose a potential defense if the time function is stopped as well. Guess you could say it depends on how accurate "Stop" can be if it could avoid the armor to which they would just lose the invincibility eventually. Also consider if Odin would have been allowed to be summoned. It has the power to instantly kill enemies.

juvygenius The Hylian Shield is indestructible. And if Link were allowed to have all of his gear, he'd have access to the Mirror Shield, which is just as durable as the Hylian Shield, and can deflect magic and/or light depending on the game. Link could survive any attack and potentially bounce it back if it were a magic attack. He also would have the Nayru's Love spell, which grants Link invincibility for a limited amount of time, so if Link were stopped in time, the invincibility would never run out.

Just so you know, I'm not using the Zelda is a god(dess) card. Just that she can shoot more than one arrows and it does harm/paralysis her enemies. Also if it is a disguise, then she is far more athletic than Peach by miles. If they were to fight, I don't think she'd loose based on that flawed math logic of using math = power of 3 attacks. Based on their actual capabilites, It's Zelda or a stalemate.

For example... the Mako infused into cloud and materia is nothing like the magic and enchantments of Zelda... but they made it sound like it was (The viewers, not the show.)
