1. People saying that link couldn't block Clouds strikes with him breaking his arm, obviously didn't watch it all the way through. The energy puts pressure on his wrist and hand. The gauntlets can take 1,000+ tons. If you can't do math, that's 2,000,000+ pounds of pressure. 2. Z-Targeting isn't a fairy thing. Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, and Skyward Sword has it without a fairy or some sort helping. 3. Cloud could of avoided the bombs, but do you think he could after falling a great distance and getting cut pretty good across the body? 4. Cloud got the Buster Sword cause its his more iconic sword. Do you see Link with his Helix blade from his fiercy deity form, his biggoron sword, or his great fairy sword? No. Why? Cause its not his iconic sword. 5. Made Link OP? They didn't put his best equipment in there. Light arrows or bomb arrows? Not in here. His magic armor that makes him invincible? Mmm... not wearing it. His masks turning him into his Fierce Deity Form or any of his other forms? Didn't do that at all 6. Hundreds and hundreds of years of experience of different scenarios, he has become a master strategist and knew if his boomerang (which wasn't even his strongest one, another one for #5) would stun him and know how to parry his attacks. I originally thought Cloud would win, but after they explained how Link won, I facepalmed of how obvious why Link would beat Cloud

***** No they didn't give link all of his best weapons. If they did, he'd have the ball and chain and double clawshots, the Light Arrows, the infinite rupee gift from Twilight Princess in combination with his Red Armor from the same game that makes him invincible, plus he'd have a full set of Fairies, and a Chateau Romani from Majora's Mask to give him infinite magic. All of this, BTW'S would be equipped to him and be useable WHILE HE WORE THE FIERCE DIETY MASK, which gives him the strongest blade of all sword available to link, the Helix Blade. On the question of the "fusing all of the links". No. Link ACTUALLY has the spirit of the hero. The Spirit of the Hero gives EACH and EVERY Link the experience of ALL the Link's before him. The Link they use in this DB is the last one in Hyrule Historia, which is Twilight Princess Link, plus a bunch of different items from all the other Links. Now an arguement of my own. Link's Master Sword is the Blade of Evil's Bane. The master sword acts against negative emotions which it considers evil. Cloud's best abilities are emotionally charged with the intent of killing his opponent. The Master Sword can feed off of those emotions and cut through Cloud MUCH easier then Cloud could break through the INDESTRUCIBLE Hylian Shield. Even if the Hylian Shield weren't there, Link could handle the blows of Cloud strikes with just his golden gauntlets, due to them being able to exponentially increase the durability of his forearms. His arms would be fine, and Link could continue to fight against Cloud with the Master Sword. There is no feasible way that Cloud could win. Let's take your example, and say that Cloud had all of his best equipment from all possible sources equipped for this fight. The ony fair ground would be for Link to have all three pieces of the triforce, which,in theory, would make him an omnipresent, omniscient, and omnipotent God. With the way Death Battle works, with all reservations against killing removed from a character's personality, Link would IMMEDIATELY activate the full power of the triforce and erase Cloud from existence, making the Death battle roughly about 5 seconds long.

And yet Link still gets knocked back by other enemies with those on, how many times do people have to point out that lifting strength does not equal durability. Link doesn't have hundreds of years of experience, each Link is a reincarnation with their own individual experiences and memories, the only connection being they all have the essence of the chosen hero, that's kind of how reincarnation works. ***** Z targeting is not a skill, its a game mechanic. Link doesn't suddenly have heightened perception while Z targeting is being used, Cloud is still too fast for him to target. And the reason the attack is called omnislash is because it hits you from multiple spots per second and Link doesn't have the speed or perception to block a single blow. Cloud having Jenova cells wouldn't make the master sword do anything serious to him since Cloud himself is not evil by Zelda standards, and hes already been cured from the Jenova cells. The master sword has never done anything besides what any regular sword would do to the evil enemies Links faced anyway except shoot air blades, so theres no way it's doing anything lethal to someone he can't even keep up with. The only other special thing about the master sword is that it's the only sword able to damage Ganondorf, along with anything at least as strong as the white sword, biggoron sword, silver and light arrows. Link has been referred to as a human in the games before, never anything else, hylian is an ethnic group not another species, and not being human doesn't automatically make you superhuman. All of Links greatest feats are with the use of his items, he's a sitting duck without them. You'd know all of this if you read the last link in my previous comment all the way through.

***** I don't mean to butt into the conversation but how much more evidence is needed to prove that ScrewAttack "messed up"? They gave their points, the guy who made his comment got his points, doesn't it counter the things others say about Cloud as some of them try to find facts that can be "proven wrong"? Because those facts do seem accurate to me, but I do have my flaws as well, since I did not do research. The point of my comment is just to get my questions answered, is all, with a bit of my opinion in it.

That's just not true. I love Legend of Zelda and I love Link... but Cloud is on a completely different level. His feats in Advent Children alone are incredible. It's stupid that Link got items from all of his games while Cloud got one piece of Materia as well. I think Link should have been given the items he gets in Super Smash Brothers because it's the most consistent. Cloud also fights people with guns, magic, and then of course there is Sephiroth.

Erpamm Why do people keep complaining about the equipment? The Death Battle explained that their weapons came from their fighting games and their armor came from their actual games. That's not favoring one side. The only weapon Link had that wasn't in Smash was his ice-arrows (technically he did have magic arrows in Melee), which didn't even phase Cloud.

Some flaws with this battle were that Link doesn’t get the memories, skills and items of past reincarnations. His pegasus boots only make him maybe 3 times faster and only affects his running speed. He can’t blitz Cloud, who deflects bullets and dodged Kadaj’s materia lightning in Advent Children. That movie was confirmed by the creators to be canon. Materia summons natural forces: it was as fast as real lightning and Cloud dodged after the lightning was shot. The master sword being able to deflect the dead man's volley is not evidence that it can deflect light magic. Final Fantasy lightning attacks are black magic anyway and materia isn’t magic. Being called the dead mans volley means the attack is already deflectable and can be done so with plain weapons and a bottle. The strongest thing Links allegedly indestructible shield has ever withstood is boulders. Cloud, who's easily clean cut through skyscrapers, can easily cut through the shield and Link at the same time. Plain bombs can’t harm Cloud, who's survived hits from summoned meteors and was unharmed by an entire cave crumbling in on him. Links gauntlets only increase his lifting strength: they don’t affect his attack strength or durability.

Anyone with a brain woulda assumed Cloud would win, if you experienced all of Clouds behaviors and equipment in FFVII, and did some critical assessment at all of Links equipment, it's harrowingly obvious that Links abilities are wishfully constructed and Clouds omission of options are artificially constructed.

Also, the Link closest to the one used in DB is the very first one from Skyward Sword since all of the abilities he has would later be used by his descendants "Cloud could have easily utilized much more materia with wildly greater performance" Yeah? So what? They could have easily given Link a lot more than what was shown here, too. Problem is: no one ever released an official statement saying what Cloud would personally use regarding Materia. The only thing ScrewAttack could do was give him what he started out with in VII and what he got in Dissidia. Like I told you: ScrewAttack isn't gonna use your save file. Once you start slapping all of this Materia onto Cloud then his actual fighting style is lost and he becomes a completely different fighter when in reality, Square made him out to be a swordfighter, not a magician "even with all of Links fairies, recovery potions and invulnerability potions and spells, he wouldn't stand a chance, Cloud has virtually unlimited use of all of the same defensive measures, Link has always had a very finite supply of bottles and magic." The Chateau Romani gives Link infinite magic so no, Cloud's gonna be the one to run out "Furthermore, Link doesn't have god like observation skills, testing him against any system he's ever been in, he can not track and maintain view of an opponent under all circumstances, this made up feature of being able to figure out any opponent isn't unlimited" Okay, and? That really doesn't change the fact that Link has been able to single-handedly overcome enemies who couldn't just be defeated by repeatedly whackin' them upside the head till they fall over. Link actually has to use his head and find a way around his opponents' defense while figuring out whatever patterns they follow, and do all of this in the heat of battle and he usually has no one to tell him any hints. A farcry from both VII and Advent Children where Cloud just swung his way to victory and had help from his friends "and uses military training and strategy" The training and stratagem of a lowly grunt? How is it that so many of you keep referencing Cloud's military career and not know one thing about it? Cloud's official military record is that of an infantryman working under Shinra's regular military. He was never SOLDIER to begin with, let alone 1st Class. "Cloud could have trashed link in seconds, a simple 2 materia combination which would link even on the only 2 links in the Buster Sword, would have completely obliterated Fake Link easily" Or Link could have trashed Cloud with just one canon item and that would have been it :p "and Cloud can take a sword clear through the chest and recover in time to trap a sword and keep fighting, against the strongest opponen" Yes, because he can clearly do that like with Sephi--oh wait no he can't. Sephiroth in AC Complete impaled him, tossed his ass into the air and Octoslashed the hell out of him. So much for that theory. Your entire argument hinges on nothing but Materia. You basically ignore the fighting style and preferences Nomura gave him just so you can have your own personal lil' Cloud that doesn't even use his sword, and just prefers to use magic jewels to perform mundane tasks like snatching an item from someone/something. Meanwhile, I get to use a canon item to make the entire idea of Cloud beating Link superfluous. What if I just gave Link the entire Triforce, which he's used in at least four games now and have him make a wish for Cloud to simply drop dead? And yes, the Triforce can literally kill anyone, no matter how durable they are. No, the truth of it is is that Link was denied a lot of his equipment as well. Not only did Link not have the items usually exclusive to one Link, but he wasn't even given an instrument to utilize, and instruments tend to play an important part in every game. Giving both characters everything they could possibly have, the winner is still Link thanks to the full Triforce at his disposal, allowing him to make any wish come true.

kaihedgie LOL, being obstinate doesn't actually qualify anything you said, it's clear that Screw Attack reached to construct features to create their own special version of Link while asserting every known limitation possible to Cloud. If your too dense to acknowledge that, than I needent waist my time. That said, Triforce is rather clever, kudos, Link wins this sword fight.

+kaihedgie While im not salty about this fight (I love legend of zelda), i did think it was a bit odd; mostly because as you said above, cloud took those attacks from sephiroth and got right back up and kept fighting. and thats after fighting all the other three remnants, and suffering from the geostigma desiese. And then took a bullet and a materia explosion to the face. And lived. Plus if we're counting in-world experiences as canon, Cloud also tanks some summons attacks which appear at least to destroy entire cities. and keeps fighting. As for training, doesn't he also have bits of Zack's memories, who WAS trained as SOLDIER? I do like the battle and i love link, but as a person who plays the zelda games i'd also like to point out that Cloud is substantially faster than Link as well. I think the battle could have gone either way, personally, and that they chose someone simply to avoid a draw. either way... Kudos to link

@Chad Small - They didn't give Cloud his ultimate weapon - they didn't give Link his, either. The Biggoron's Sword, Great Fairy's Sword, Gilded Sword, and the legendary Helix Sword (Fierce Deity) are all stronger than the Master Sword, even in Skyward. They also didn't give either opponent their ultimate equipment. 1. Link could have used the Magic Armor from Twilight Princess which makes him invulnerable/invincible to any and all attacks as long as his wallet is full of Rupees. While the max wallet size in Twilight is the one you get from Agatha that holds 1,000 Rupees (already enough to beat any opponent), in other games Link got wallets that held up to 9,999 Rupees. 2. The Magic Armor from Wind Waker also makes him invulnerable/invincible to any all attacks as long as you have Magic Power - once again, more than enough to beat any opponent. (especially if you had bottles of Green Potion - up to 6.) 3. Nayru's Love from Ocarina of Time had the same effect as the first two and I don't need to be redundant. If ANY of these had been given to Link in this fight, it would've been a wash - let alone if they gave Link all of them. If you went through every game in each series and gave each opponent EVERY weapon and item they could ever possess, Link would tear Cloud to pieces.

Love your videos. If it helps you at all, one factor they don't talk about but mention in the side comments is Links "Z Targeting". It allows him in multiple games to track, focus on, and keep up with enemies and what they do. That's why when Cloud uses his Omni Slash you see three yellow triangles around. Just a thought that helped me out.

To everyone who says link would have lost, They didn't even give link his entire arsenal. Some include the masks, ball and chain, bigoron sword, magic armor, his various tunics, his deku seeds, deku leaf, bombchu, and more. ALL of these would be even more powerful. This ofc is not counting Cloud's entire arsenal consisting of a hundred elixirs which can instantly let him recover from any damage he might have taken aswell as completely invigorate him. HIS bombs and status infecting items. Any of his weapons that he didnt start the game with. His materia which allows him to summon multiple gods and monsters. His other materia which he can link together (something he definitely knows how to do as he IS the tutorial guy in the game) that'll let him automatically counter virtually anything thrown at him with powerful magics of his choosing, and thats just off the top of my head. Never compare a full arsenal with jrpg characters. They carry around so many crazy items that a pocket missile is considered utter trash in their "arsenal"... While Link considers a boomerang a useful tool. Seriously this fight was like having a Tekken character beat Goku "because he takes 10 episodes to charge an attack". Completely ignoring just how otherwordly the strength, abilities, and arsenal of one char is compared to another. Link may be impressive in his own universe, but I cant see him beating anyone who even has something as simple as a gun. Cloud is like early DBZ levels of ridiculous.. Like atleast 0.7 Raditz.

I don't blame you for being iffy on this one. I don't disagree with the result, but given the EXTREMELY wide arsenal of the Legend of Zelda and Final Fantasy series, it's really hard to determine which weapons and armor they'd use, it's especially harder since Link is a multi incarnate hero (The Smash Bros Link is an example of all them together). Ben and Chad did admit that this was the hardest one to determine the winner over ALL the other death battles. I still give it to Link because the FF wiki even stated Cloud prefers slow and powerful strikes, and Link can have better armor then the one stated in this video (Like the Fierce Diety's Mask and Magic Armor). Since this is one of the most controversial episodes, don't be surprised if you get some people upset with the results in the comments. The biggest complaint is how they limited Cloud, but Link was very limited as well. Ben and Chad determined the arsenals through fighting games (Super Smash Bros and Final Fantasy). The complexity of putting Cloud in a Death Battle alone probably means we won't be seeing too many RPG characters in the future...

Mmhmm, I was glad that they agreed that it was one of the closest battles in DB history, because at least then I can bobble my head in agreement. And you know, even though he has a bigger arsenal in the games, maybe I would've pitted Cloud closer with Link had I actually played FFVII. I only knew Cloud from the movie, and like I said, the action was really over-the-top (and awesome). Basing it only off of that, even with my love for Link, he just seemed more powerful. But, good points were made, a hard battle was fought, and I certainly won't complain. Bring up questions or the like, maybe. But not complain. haha

Comicking- I respect your opinion But your wrong about most of what you said. If you put characters to a dual you always use the latest version of that character. Like for example the AC cloud with his fusion swords and motor cycle. After cloud beats Sephiroth in the movie he is at his best because he isn't depressed anymore. But they use the weaker cloud. They used the right link but gave him stuff from the other games that particular link didn't have. They combined all of links games together which you can't do because they are diferen't in there own ways. The problem is they knew cloud would lose because it's the cloud from the FF7 game and not AC cloud. AC cloud would have destroyed link. If cloud was going against someone with a sword and shield he would obviously use two swords against him to get rid of the shield. he also doesn't use raw power because shown in the movie he uses speed as well as strength when using small swords or two swords. They were paid to make cloud lose. Link has more fans. Fact.

They take out personal bias when determining the winner, they've talked about how in various interviews there have been plenty of episodes where their preferred characters lose. You had a good argument going up until that point. As for the combining Links, in terms of arsenal it didn't affect much, nearly all Links have arrows, boomerangs, bombs, and hookshots. What I believe Death Battle did was make a composite form of Link, since the Zelda series gameplay evolved over time. The hereditary hero's spirit theme does make sense, most of the Link's in the series don't start out as swordsmen but seem to learn the skills very fast. The first Link was in Knight school, and Demise at the end said there Link and Zelda's descendants that contain Link's spirit or Zelda's bloodline will be plagued by an incarnation of his evil. In terms of his equipment like the Pegasus boots and the red ring, they took the most common one in the series, but there are better versions they didn't use (Magic armor and Naryu's Love). In Smash Bros, despite it being TP Link, he has Navi from OoT and some moves from Adventure of Link. Also, no prior knowledge of Link, the reason they gave Cloud the Buster Sword is because it's his main weapon in Dissidia and it is the most iconic, and no, the Master Sword is not Link's strongest sword. Link and Cloud have way too much of a customizable arsenal so I can see why Cloud fans are upset Cloud was limited, Link was heavily limited as well. There are a good number of armors that give Link invincibility in the Smash Bros series they didn't use.

The only way to put to fighters against each other is to get the latest character or when the character is at his/her best. I agree that this fight link would beat cloud but if it was cloud from AC it would be a fair fight. I'm a fan of Link too and played all his games. But also I know that Cloud would win because of what he has been through and what he can do. Yknow?

Battles like (SPOILER ALERT FOR ANYONE WHO HASN'T SEEN THESE) Goku vs Superman, Zelda vs Peach, and Batman vs Spider-Man prove that they don't care if they lose subscribers because the favored one did not win. Can you imagine how many subscribers they would have got if Goku, Batman, and Zelda won their battles? SPOILERS ENDED. Needless to say, I'm pretty sick of people accusing them of bias or making them have a character win to appease a certain audience. Ben received death threats after Goku vs Superman, and there's been plenty of battles where Ben and Chad's preferred character lost.

Thing is, they didn't even give Link some of his best stuff, like the Bomb arrows, or the fierce deity mask or, hell, even the mirror shield. I mean, yeah, from what I heard, it Cloud might have been able to win due to the status effects (although the fight isn't how they figure out who wins, they research it and then make the fight), but they also didn't Link some of his very best, which was the mirror shield, bomb arrows and the fierce deity mask.

So Link wasnt using his very best of the best gear he could use. Cloud was restricted from using virtually any of the arsenal you get in the game, and the sword he wielded was literally the weakest of all of his weapons. Basically the equelevant of what Cloud was using in this fight would have been if Link was limited to his most basic sword, the shield he was using, 1 accessory like say one pair of boots or those gauntlets, and like.. his bombs... And thats it. Cloud's full arsenal includes armor which absorbs elemental attacks, rings which reflect damage or cause him to constantly regenerate health, elixirs which fully invigorates both his body and magic pool, bombs, grenades, missiles, elixirs which makes him temporarely invincible (and he can chug those like crazy), items which explodes into magical attacks like lightning, fire, or poison clouds. Hence the Master Sword being given to Link instead of other weapons that he did get access to and are stronger. The same can be said for Cloud,as his most recognizable weapon is his Buster Sword. I do agree that it was quite unfair,but hey,I don't own Screwattack and I don't make the rules. But,however wrong they may be,they still make some entertaining videos.

If you were to slow down the video during the Omnislash, you would see that Link was actually so fast that he was PARRYING the Buster Sword's strikes. Link was parrying the strikes from a guy who can cut through fricking skyscrapers! That shows how little chance Cloud had in this match. Plus with the added Thundaga, it just gave Link another means to harm Cloud, with his own attacks. If you've played Skyward Sword, you know that the Master Sword can control any type of light magic, even tainted light and lightning magic, like the Thundaga. Plus, with the rings, medallions, and the boots, Link had defense against all of Cloud's attacks. Cloud never stood a chance in the long run, even IF they had allowed summons. I mean... seriously, Link's done this for 10 generations now, and Cloud's been doing this for how long? Not nearly as long as the Hero, that's for sure.

I think it was pretty cheap because in the FF7 game, Cloud has come across materia, so it wouldn't have mattered if he limited it or not, it wouldn't have done anything to the planet unless he was constantly BUYING materia. A lot of the COMMAND materia, MAGIC materia, SUPPORT, and INDEPENDENT matteria I feel would have made a huge difference. He didn't need summonings. Besides in AC he abandoned Angeal's Buster Sword. Z targeting is a game mechanic designed to help the player. Materia is from the actual storyline and is known to give those powers. Z targeting is NOT a power. And no I'm not fanboying. I love Zelda. Like, it's pretty much my favorite game series. I'm just making the point that he would be totally outmatched in this scenario. And to top it all off, the boomerang wouldn't do anything to him either, just like the ice arrows. I'm sorry, but they definitely screwed this one up. Furthermore, you've crossed time-lines. Giving Link all the weapons from multiple time lines is illogical. All of these weapons and items from FF7 are in the same timeline. Ash Ketchum For a person that barrows a name after a famous pokemon trainer you clearly are dumb enough to be attempting to meddle with my point. Now, do you really want to drag me into this? I understand the basis of both characters. All Cloud would have to do is spam *Ultima* and the game over Link in one hit. Ultima bypasses all magical and defensive resistances. Cloud can steal every single piece of Links gear and augment his speed and slow his opponents to points which Link can barely move much less attack. Fierce Deity mask wouldn't give Link any edge when it's in Clouds possesion and he wouldn't be able to effectively use it because all Cloud would have to do is attack once and be done with it. I don't know the exact Mathematics for this, but for Cloud Strife(someone whom can rip apart skyscrapers with his attacks and should be able to move and attack drastically faster than Link ever could)... The battle definately shorthanded his destructive potential in every means of it being displayed. Link has never done anything even close to doing such I already posted. He can with magic or help from his gear and the Master Sword. Every single enemy in TLOZ would be so easy and a cakewalk to similarly equipped Cloud. Death Battle messed up bad on the interpretation of both of these characters. Cloud either wins this contest easily or they both die and no one can claim that this was cheap in any possible way. Oh, and before you care to bring up anything else don't bother. I never really wanted to debate this because it's all down to assuming what you believe will win the fight. Debates are complete BS. Especially, with those that don't care to consider both sides fairly.

1) Cloud's supposed to be immune to status effects and stuns, yet ice arrows worked on him for 2.5 seconds. That isn't how it works, you don't "get frozen, then thaw out right away"; the freezing simply can't take hold because you're IMMUNE. 2) Cloud gets the basic buster sword which you literally replace almost immediately in the game? 3) Again, Cloud is supposed to be immune to stuns, yet Link "stunned" Cloud long enough to pull out his grappler, grapple his sword back to him, and prepare for Cloud's next attack? I thought Cloud was immune to stuns? 4) Even if someone was holding an indestructible shield in front of them, if you got hit by something with as much force as a semi truck, sure, the shield would be perfectly fine, but your arm bones would shatter and you'd go flying and no longer be able to hold that shield up. 5) Omnislash is so fast it's like every strike hits you at the same time. There would be no time for Link to "rotate around and block each strike" as they came in. It's almost instantenous. It's also one of Cloud's most powerful attacks and it STILL didn't break Link's arm. I love both these characters so much. In fact, I would say I am more of a Zelda fan than a Final Fantasy fan, but once again Death Battle completely dropped the ball and this entire fight just seems biased.

I admit that this battle was biased towards Link, but some of the things you pointed out aren't correct either. 1) Yeah, I'm not sure what they meant by "immune" either. I don't see this as a big deal, though, because that scene was put in to show that magic stuns have no effect on Cloud and Link freezing him for a short moment in no way gave Link an advantage. In fact, Link was at a disadvantage immediately after that scene, so I'm willing to ignore that. 2) Weapons are from the fighting games, armor is from the canonical games. Did Cloud use the sword you're talking about in his fighting games moreso than his basic buster? If so, than I guess you're right. 3) I questioned this as well, but I was told by a Soul Caliber fan that Cloud's ribbon protects him from stuns of magical effects. Link's boomerang stun is supposed to be a physical one which is why it still effected Cloud. (Although its never stated directly in game that the force is physical) 4) They explain that Link's gauntlets protect him from force. The shield blocks the attack and the gauntlets allow him to withstand the force. Their only weakness is they don't increase striking power. 5) Z-targetting is supposed to give Link almost instantaneous reaction time, facing where ever the attack is coming from. If the slashes aren't all happening at the same time, aka instantly, and they are not invisible, Link can block them. 6) The video said 1000 tons, not 1000 pounds. So Link can with withstand over 2 million pounds of pressure and he does so easily meaning he can withstand a great deal more than this.

you should play the other games, a lot of people give skyward sword crap but it's probably my second favorite behind majoras mask.(also it has a good water dungeon) it's interesting that link can retain the skills and memories of his previous incarnations though, which is why he can use swords and bows with no training. I think the reason Cloud basically paused, is because Cloud was hit across the back of the head with the boomerang stunning him. Some Zelda games (I think A Link to the Past) gives the boomerang stunning properties. Also..The grapple hook pause is kind of a staple in Zelda games whenever you grapple onto something like in Ocarina of Time.

Not neccessarilly; remember the red ring shields 75% of damage also, one thing that went unmentioned is that the heart containers Link picks up through out a game boost his final hp greatly. In most of his games he picks up about 20, his initial hp is 3 heart containers worth, so if we can assume that his basic hp is normal human level, then with all the heart containers, he is almost 8 times as durable as a normal human being, combine that with the 75% damage reduction, and Link is 13.41666666... times as durable as a normal man.

I'm confused about something, maybe one of you could explain this to me: Cloud was equipped with the Ribbon. Acording to the description, the ribbon protects the wearer from status ailments. If this is true, then the Ice Arrow should've had absolutely no effect whatsoever on Cloud. So that's one moment in the battle in which Link could've been beaten. Later during the fight, Cloud is hit by the boomerang. He is stunned for a moment, allowing link to use the clawshot, however, if the Ribbon protects against stuns (I believe Boomstick mentions this) how did the boomerang work at all?

I want to believe that for the animation they do some of these things just for the entertainment and to keep us all on the edge of our seat. In the end it comes down to the research and analysis of who would win regardless of any small mistake in animated contradictories. The boomerang hitting Cloud was probably the animators showing bit of pain and the flinching of getting hit. This is a small excuse to demonstrate most if not all the equipment and abilities they could into the fight. For example getting hit with the boomerang is excuse to show off the clawshot. I mean it would be a little boring of an animation if the rushed to the end quickly without showing off some element of danger. So for the sake of entertainment some illogical things like Cloud getting stunned or whatever may happen. It's just for fun^_^. So in the end LInks analysis of his vast arsenal of equipment and armor/defenses and abilities won this for him. I hope this helped you understand, even just a little bit^_^

One thing I didn't understand is, why they didn't talk about the one thing that saved Links ass during the Omnislash: Z-Targetting. Look at the Omnislash again: You'll notice a Marker on Cloud, usually attributed to an enemy, Link has targetted with his Z-Button, meaning Link automatically turns to his enemy, no matter where he goes. So Link just needed to hold up his shield and let every attack collide with it, waiting for an opportunity to strike himself. THAT was the deciding point for me!

Link didn't block all of his attacks, but at the end where you were a bit confused he did. The Legend of Zelda has an auto-targetting system called "Z-Targeting" which immediately turns Link towards the enemy. They had it in Twilight Princess, Ocarina of Time, and Wind Waker I know for a fact. With this Z-Targeting, which they showed in the video when putting up Link's stats, he was able to immediately turn to Cloud while holding up his invulnerable Hylian shield. Link did take a few hits though. I think like five. Which, would be nothing probably for Link. It would probably take out ten hearts tops. When you watch the video, you see the Z-Targeting during that time as to when Cloud tried to strike. You could see the marker showing what he was doing. It was close, but Link just had a better defense and waited for the right time.

When I first watched this, I had not heard of Cloud, and I have played the Legend of Zelda OOT game, whilst I was not sure, I had my hopes that Link would win. I was glad that I had been right, but, I did wonder if 'frozen' was a status ailment, but I could be wrong. In Majoras mask, you would have to freeze enemies in one temple, but it did make me wonder how he was frozen. Still, other than that little blooper, everything else seemed alright.

For anyone who is concerned about the "Swinging blindly" part, I do agree that there is more to Final Fantasy fighting tactics than just "Swing sword wildly." However, this fight it came down to one thing: Could Cloud Break Link's defenses? Cloud's fighting method is "Overwhelm the opponent" as seen in Dissedia(sp) where he can actually break someone's guard. The problem however is that if Link can withstand the attacks, he has little other options. That and with Link's ability to target his opponents carefully with lock on meant that he could be able to keep his eye on Cloud at all times, even during Omnislash. Cloud is a great fighter, but we got an example of how the best offense can actually be outdone by an even better defense.

It's crazy how people don't seem to read and pay attention to what's being put right before their eyes. When people make assumptions they really do makes asses of themselves especially when their butt hurt. One of the biggest things I don't get when I watch these videos and read these comments is...do you people not know what a dramatization is? Basically a reenactment of what the battle would be if everything was used that was put in display. So people whining about Ice arrows shouldn't have worked and the like, pay attention. It's just showing what would have happened. What goes on with these types of things is they talk all their data they've accumulated and stuff it in a computer. The computer runs the battle a set ammount of times to prevent a lucky shot from crowning a winner, the one with the most wins say out of a 1000 battles wins the fight. After that they simply put on a dramitazation of how they interpret things would have went in one solid fight with the winner being who the computer choose. Now on to the death battle itself... I know fanboys of both franchises alike will whine either way but damn man did you not hear that since the characters are so customizable that their being brought into battle with what THEIR BEST known for? What I will say is they kinda reached with the golden gauntlets but in most every game Link grabs something that gives him a boost in his lifting strength so it's either those or the power gloves. You add that with an indestructible sword forged by the goddess along with a red ring? Come man fairy boy or not that's a lot if defense. Everybody keeps getting butthurt that Awww Link has an entire arsenal spanning the generations. I really wouldn't say that outside the red ring and Pegasus boots but again in alit of Zelda games he gets a defense buff and he gets a movement buff stop not picking. Does Link in any generation limit himself to what he uses for any reason? No he goes balls in with everything he has to figure how to take down his enemy. Cloud limits himself by saying he won't use material that comes from the life stream of the planet so they gave him the two he's most known for using. If not for that little info of holding himself back with no material usage then you can have your damn near fully customizable Cloud. Z-targeting in this death battle was not utilized how it's used in the game but it's actual mean which equals fast reactions. Fast reactions combined with 10 generations of Link experience, just cause he over relies on his equipment doesn't mean he neglects experience with a damn Sword. I don't mean to come here and be disrespectful or anything and I'm the first to call bullshit on anything that proves to be just that. But y'all are tripping hard...too hard. Like they gave Cloud all the help they could with everything they found I mean it sounds like y'all wanted a completely customizable Cloud against a limited Link cause as you all know there's a Helleva lot of Links arsenal that can be dragged out of those deep pockets. The only Death Battle I find to be a load of crap and thank god he hasn't watched it is the Mai vs Chun li. Clearly they just threw something together with that.

They overlooked the fact that, according to a couple of in-game references and even a manga with Viz Media on the label, Link is actually wildly skilled. Like, skilled enough to kick the collective asses of an entire group of well-trained knights, and make their teacher compliment him, saying that Link had 'taught him' that day. Also, the King of Red Lions told Jabun that Toon Link was NOT the Hero of Time. The Links are different people. If you call yourself a Zelda fan you should know this. Going back in time is outside help due to the Goddess of Time. Mortal Draw can't instantly kill everything in Twilight Princess. Zelda bosses who are much less durable than Cloud can survive it.

It's true that link didn't block all of clouds attacks, but he did block most of them and he blocked all of the more powerful limit breaks. He can also, similarly to cloud, fight just as well after taking a lot of damage as he can when at full health, minus the master sword's beams. When he's close enough to death that you hear the most annoying sound in the world, he can still defeat Ganondorf as long as he doesn't take any more direct hits.

The one thing I don't understand is that they denied him the use of his updated multi sword from advent that would have made him more versatile. However, they let him adopt the philosophy of not using materia that he had in advent when he freely used it during ff7 game. In that sense it felt like they were cherry picking certain aspects to limit cloud, while upping link? Another thing is that link is somewhat a human ability character. Everything he is capable of seems achievable by a normal person, it is just his gear that makes him push past that level. What I mean is that he may have the abilities, but he will still have the reflexes of a human. He simply may not be able to react as fast to an incoming blow and get his shield up in time. I agree that any hit from the master sword would be certain death due to the nature of it. But in no way should a game mechanic like locking on should be counted. If that were the case, cloud should have the right to have an un interrupt hit during a limit break, as it has a 100% hit rate. This is a hard one to call, especially if they had used deity link. I except the result, I just don't understand the reasoning in some of their decisions to include some aspects and exclude other aspects?
