I don’t disagree that Vader Wins, however some of the reasoning just seems off like reading his mind or using the time Vader overpowered Starkiller as a feat. Link resists mind control and corruption all the time, hence why he gets deceived whilst Zelda is usually the one possessed. And Starkiller was never canon outside of Unleashed, he was a part of Legends before the Disney era. Plus the Link used for the awesome animation got some new equipment and abilities in TotK that I would’ve like to have seen included, such as Earthwake.

I think the thing that bothers me the most about their justification is vader being able to read links mind. Those kind of tricks only work on weak minded individuals. Link is not weak minded I don’t think that’s in question. That means that putting him to sleep or reading his mind won’t work. Link also retains the combat experience of all his past lives giving him decades of experience. He has the skill just not the memories of his past selves. The best way for vader to win this is to keep link from accessing his full arsenal and while I’m not completely certain I’m pretty sure their are quite a few weapons link doesn’t need to physically activate. Love seeing vader get a win and there are ways for him to win but I’m not 100% sold on this one.

@@alexbaribeault That is fair. The force is almost like spider sense but it does have limits. It’s not always a clear image for one and against opponents of similar power it’s pretty weak. It takes concentration to do and if you’re fighting someone as strong and fast as you are you don’t have that kind of time. Fallen order showed this off well (no spoilers please haven’t beaten it completely.) they did combine legends with the new stuff though so who knows legends was vast. The force unleashed gave vader his strongest feats and I’m not really sure how ripping a star destroyer out of the sky compares to some of links other feats. Oh, and starkiller destroyed another destroyer in the sequel by charging a single turbo laser with the force. The fact vader can scale to that is terrifying. I do think it would be a pretty close match in a few ways but vader has a bias against opponents who don’t use the force. I imagine he’d probably underestimate link at first. Though, he may also start seeing a bit of anakin in link as well so that would probably make him angrier. It’s not a matchup I’ve thought of before but it’s a fun one.

Big Star Wars nerd here and a big fan of legends. But, I’m not sure if vader should have took this one granted the force does counter most direct attacks but a comp link with all his masks is a bit much for vader to take. I mean I like vader winning but my mind is just telling me somethings up here.

He got to scale to Starkiller when Link didn't scale to Majora or Calamity Ganon who are far stronger, Flurry Rush and Links own laser feats that would make him faster than Vader, and the Timestops that in his last fight were said to be a counter to a faster opponent were outright ignored, and when Vader's suit was disabled it crippled him for a meaningful amount of time so Link's electric weapons were still an advantage, and the Tri-Force of Courage protects his mind. Even the Kipp feat people scale him to only comes out to continental levels of power, comperable to Termina's destruction which Fierce Deity Link UPSCALES from because in the Manga he oneshot Majora's Wrath. Majora made a star in the moon realm, so Fierce Deity Link would be more powerful than a Force Storm, which is a specific power Vader's never used.

Wasn’t the most hyped for this upon announcement but I adored this. Great job to everyone and while I was sad to see Link go, him using the Fierce Deity against Vader went he didn’t get to against Ridley was awesome. Speaking of which Ridley must be cheering rn from hell.

So, this was a great animation, but I'm going to argue against this result for a number of reasons: -If you really are using a composite Link, Link has multiple ways to become invulnerable through his items + magic (in just one game, AlttP, he has both a cape and staff that do this). And drinking Chateau Romani milk grants infinite magic for 72 hours. That makes his durability essentially infinite in a straight fight if he gets at least one chance to drink it, which with these listed speeds and leadup to Vader's arrival seems at least likely. The definite advantage there should go to link. Vader is tough but he is not on the level of pure invulnerability for days at a time. Link also has an additional invulnerability method not mentioned here in flurry rush. I don't understand why this fact is mentioned in both your and death battle's analysis but never brought up in the actual fight. Yes, I get that would make a boring animation, but he would win because of it. Also, link isn't exactly a stranger to being blasted with high powered lasers without taking too much damage even outside of his magic so it feels a bit off to see his limbs get severed so easily by a laser sword, even if it is a lightsaver. At max armor from just BOTW, a full guardian laser blast takes off just 2 hearts of his 20. *Actual* composite link would probably have even more damage reduction, or at least much more health. -I don't buy this speed comparison/advantage. What about Flurry rush or his bullet time from BotW? Link at least has access to bursts of speed through either method that make him far faster than his base movement speed. He also has to dodge only once for flurry rush's temporary invulnerability to activate. But sure, let's say Vader has force speed to make him even faster. At that point Link can split himself into multiple invulnerable copies to compensate with the four sword, and no Jedi or Sith has ever been in Force Speed that long as far as I know. They also never fight using it so there must be a limitation to that. -Starkiller's spaceship pulling feat has been on other analysis shows and it was brought up there that other source material confirmed there were circumstances aboard the ship that caused it's fall with starkiller only speeding up this proces. It's disingenuous to scale him to that feat. Though I've never heard of him tossing someone into the sun so I wouldn't know the specifics of that move. Even if he did this though, invulnerable link could teleport back to a shrine near the fight and continue. -On offense, ancient arrows is a flat-out instant kill as it seems to warp an enemy out of time/reality. He only has to land one somewhere during the fight to win. When you are invulnerable and have somewhat comparable speed plus bursts of much greater speed, you can simply wait out until the enemy gets tired and then land one shot. -All of this is seperate from the insane arsenal of other ability increasing items and magic from all Link's other games. One thing not mentioned here is how Vader is weak to Electricity, which Link canuse through both magic and items and also in area of effect moves. -Link's experience is measured through many different lifetimes. While vader has fought for two or three straight decades, Link's many lives fighting against many different kinds of enemies should rival the experience or come close. Taking this into account, the actual score seems to be: Durability: Link (Days-Long invulnerabilty + multiple shorter invulnerabilities + multiple resurrection methods + multiple magical full healing powers vs cyborg-level durability with limited healing powers. This is a stomp, there really is no contest.), Attack: Link or Tie (Vader perhaps has more raw magical attack through force attacks, but Link has a much more varied arsenal of items/attacks and access to electricity attacks, and should also overpower vader through brute strength in a swordfight), Speed: Tie (hardest to call imo, force sense + space combat reflexes vs Flurry rush and bullet-time, potential time stops during some moves), Experience: Tie (decades of warfare vs many lives of training + combat, but the latter probably only at peak during actual struggles vs Ganon while Anakin was at full war for longer and probably has more experience in swordfights vs other swordsman, but he has never fought against something with massive fantasy powers like composite Link. Roughly equal imo). The overal advantage would go to Link, especially since infinite durability is very hard to overcome. That said, good animation and voice acting. Good luck on having the channel grow further. '

Okay, but what if Vader just holds Link in a force hold for the entire 72 hour invulnerability period you mentioned? Does Link have a method of breaking free of the force hold, where Vader is holding Link tight? Genuine curiosity here, as I don't recall any. Way I see it, if be doesn't, Vader would simply grab Link with the force, and attempt to kill Link until it succeeds in the end.

@@crunchybanana6489 Unless the armor projects an aura of magical protection, I'd imagine so. It's not like the force is a physical application of magic, so in my eyes, it should still be effective against anything that isn't an aura effect.

I agree with all that, but also take into account that Link could very well know his weakness, and exploit it all with the Fierce Deity mask. Since it contains all the merits of the masks Link has collected in Termina, this means that once he puts on the Fierce Deity mask, he can use the Mask of Truths ability to read his mind as well. Besides that, his already god-like speed and senses are doubled thanks to the Bunny Hoods ability, hide entirely with the Stone Mask ability (though I'm not entirely sure about this one since Vader could sense his presence still with the force), can very well counter sleep via All Nights mask ability, and he can fairly stop the fight entirely with the Couples Mask, or use the Song of Healing.

​@@dragex6582 Well, the cape from AlltP makes him both invulnerable and invisible, with the in-game effect also allowing him to walk through enemies IIRC. You can argue that is intangibility alongside invulnerability. The staff from the same game granting him invulnerability projects a magical spinning barrier around him so that would probably work if the cape doesn't. But that is just two ways, there is also I.E. the Magic armor from the Wind Waker granting invulnerability while magic lasts. I think force choke is a physical damage ability; in the KOTOR games, it is described as working through collapsing the target's lungs. As such invulnerability of any kind should prevent it. As for if Vader can hold link in the air for 72 hours straight with it; can he? Has he ever done such a thing for that long at a time? But even if he could, Link could split himself into four and start shooting him from four different directions with instant kill arrows or having the copied use AOE electricity attacks while still invulnerable. It just does not seem like Vader could focus well enough to indefinitely lift one of the links somewhere at a safe distance and deflect all his arrows/magic while simultaneously doing the same to the other three. Not at such a questionable advantage in speed, if he even has any.

Thanks for a fight that really shows how terrifying Vader can be. Even though I thought Vader would win to start with, I was still hoping that Link would have some item, equipment or strategy that could win the day. Unfortunately against a roughly equal or weaker opponent the Force can be quite a dealbreaker with it's telekinesis, precognition and ability to enhance the user's physical capabilities. Edit: Getting bothersome notifications about people vs debating in my comment threads is why I usually don't comment on the videos directly, just the music. Thanks guys for giving more reason to stick with that.

Link had electric items/Urbosa's Fury to fry Vader's suit and leave him temporarily vulnerable, the Stasis Rune to stop Vader in his tracks, Hasty Elixer to match and Flurry Rush to outspeed him, and stronger scaling to Majora but Ink just didn't give it to him. Telekinesis would be a problem but Link could get his stuff back with Magnesis or the Magnetic Gloves (or Ultrahand), Flurry Rush could blitz precognition (it's a NINETEEN times multiplier), and had what he needed to form a strategy to beat Vader like Tarkin did.

Neither canon nor old canon version of Vader are weak to electricity like as if its a fucking RPG (or that he just forgorrr that insulation exists, lul), fan myths aside. New canon Vader has survived direct lightning from Sidious, with all that entails (hint; infinitely better than anything Link has), and old canon Vader has survived over 20-30 seconds worth of hilariously amplified lightning from TFU Starkiller without any visible injury, and per the Dark Side ending and the plans for the third game, he wasn't affected in any meaningful way and threw the fight. "...the Stasis Rune to stop Vader in his tracks" Blatant no-limits fallacy. And not even seemingly true in-universe besides. "...Hasty Elixir to match..." ....Vader, who in both canon's is easily supersonic to hypersonic in reaction times? Lul no. "...and Flurry Rush to outspeed him" At best, even with any amount of wank you can give to it, its something that would let him keep up with, not surpass, Vader's augmented speed. "...and stronger scaling to Majora..." Lul no. Scaling with Majora is and always has been a tricky and unreliable idea, for any number of reasons (the fact that magic doesn't seem to be used/abused in combat in LoZ terribly often for whatever reason, the fact Majora is batshit insane and spends half the fight acting like a looney-toon, not fighting, the fact Link probably has anti-magic resistance, the fact you can't scale Link to Majora's main and only real notable feat for obvious reasons, etc). The only viable way to do so would be via the Fierce Deity Mask based on the hype it has. Although, of course, if you want to go maximum silliness, its not as if Vader doesn't have nonsense that matches or exceeds Majora's 'drag down a decent sized meteor and lifewipe a country', in either canon, as well. "...but Link could get his stuff back with Magnesis or the Magnetic Gloves..." You're winning strategy to counter Vader's telekinesis being bullshit is....for Link to have to pull out a Not-Phone/put on a pair of gloves, and drag it back, and get himself situated, and blah blah blah, while...uh, I guess Vader just stands there and politely waits because it isn't his turn? That's your plan? Are you fucking real? "Flurry Rush could blitz precogniton..." Lul no. "....(its a NINTEEN times multipler)..." That's....neat, i guess...? "...and had what he need to form a strategy to beat Vader like Tarkin did..." .....Uh, but Tarkin didn't beat Vader, though. He lost. He managed to get Vader on his knees, but even at the end he still had enough strength left to put him in a Force choke, thus meaning the game was over. Nevermind, of course, that not only could Vader NOT kill Tarkin for obvious reasons and thus had to hold back to an extent, but that Tarkin is also, by all indications, just as or more clever than Link, and more importantly, had a number of advantages that Link doesn't and wouldn't. Anywho, Link dies. The vast majority of his incarnations die instantly, the rest die in a few seconds, and modern BOW/TOTK Link could perhaps hold out for a little while. A composite does have a few chances to win via his absurd arsenal and the element of surprise via it, as well as a few bits of hax, but his odds still aren't favourable.

I definitely think Vader could realistically win, but ESPECIALLY with the combined aspect of Link in this video, there is no reason he should have been destroyed in the way he was twice in this video. Hell, I'd argue that just BOTW/TOTK Link could win in specific circumstances. I just think Link is more generally fit to work on the spot and defeat almost anyone than Vader is.

Great animation but I feel the research was lackluster, because it was against a deadline of some kind. Link’s research was copy and pasted from link vs Ridley, and Vader’s powers and abilities were barely touched on. Also link’s best wincons were never mentioned ie his infinite time stop and the fact you never considered speed multipliers for either character. You also never came to a conclusion of how fast Vader actually was, because if he’s 300mph, link is faster because of multipliers from potions and items, if he’s light speed but only in blocking it wouldn’t matter. I could list a million other things, but overall i think you should’ve waited to do better research for both characters.

Really hard to into words how much I loved this But I can try lol My favorite SB/CC by a decent margin The animation has certain jank in some segments and all but the moments that don’t are utterly spectacular, Vader’s voice was top tier and the writing of his lines were… “Untrained! Unfocused! And Weak!” Amazing The entire crew has improved so much through every episode to be better and better and it really paid off here

Flurry Rush, which was how he kept up with Mach 1.5 Ridley and would make him 11 times faster than Vader, and the Timestops that were said in the Ridley fight to be counters to a faster opponent, were not brought up in the conclusion. Vader got to scale to Starkiller but Link didn't get to scale to the Divine Beasts, Calamity Ganon, or Majora. He should have at LEAST gotten the Divine Beast scaling as he could bring down Calamity Ganon, who survived 4 of their lasers, without the Master Sword, which would put him at the lower end of Mountain Level, far beyond Vader. Link's laser feats are ignored entirely while blaster bolts being real lasers is left open for Vader. To be blunt, the research is actively biased against Link by leaving out crucial things for him he recieved before and denying him scaling while giving Vader that luxary. Vader is not stronger than those three combined, and his mind tricks have failed before like against Jabba the Hutt, so he cannot control Link's strong mind. The All-Nights mask makes Link incapable of falling asleep.

i get that it's the heat of battle, and he may not have even thought of it, but i find it even a bit funny that Link has a lynel sword and the light bow, but only uses urbosa's fury once, is allied with the Goron despite never using Daruk's protection which could've at the bare minimum helped when a lightsaber was being pushed into his skull or cutting off his arms, and sure only using Urbosa's fury once could've been attributed to the fact he was on his last charge and it was on cooldown for the whole fight, which would be reasonable as some of the other abilities take entire hours to recharge, or whole days if we're going by the in game clock, such as Mipha's grace which he also didn't use instead going for a fairy, and Revali's gale was kinda just there with not many opportunities or reasons to use it mid fight, also, though it definitely couldn't have fit too well given the timeframe to do so, but i liked to have imagine Link getting his right arm cut off (like in TOTK's prologue) that it would've been a segway into Link borrowing Rauru's arm mid fight and using the zonai abilities, also giving a creative clash between The Force and The Ultrahand ability,

The main thing to keep in mind (and Smash Bracket / Crossover Colosseum is very consistent about this) is that they try to avoid accepting or making assumptions about a character's upper limits. Just because the hero beat a 'world threatening villain', doesn't mean that villain could blow up a world, or even if they could, it doesn't mean the hero can survive or unleash that same kind of strength. After all, maybe they won through speed or cunning or other means? In Vader's case, while the force has been used to achieve singularity level feats, that doesn't prove Vader can use the force to that extent unless he undeniably demonstrates that kind of feat on his own. This is also why you rarely see character scaling in these shows, stat feats are only scaled if the two characters have tested the stat against each other. For example, recall that cool moment in the Anakin VS Obi-wan duel where they both try to force push each other but are instead stuck for moment before both being blasted back, that scene proves their force power was equal at the time, so Anakin's force feats from this point and earlier can be used to measure Obi-wan's force power. TLDR: If it didn't happen on-screen (or on-page), and if you can't put a measurable number on it, then as far as Smash Bracket / Crossover Colosseum is concerned, that 'feat' is either false or unusable.

To be honest, I kind of knew what the outcome was. While link fought some serious bad guys, all of them were basically ancient tech at best. Darth Vader is literally using a sword hot enough to cut through metal. Not to mention he could’ve just continuously snapped his neck, every time he got up. He may be a fling found a way to continuously shock him and takeoff his life preservers he could’ve had a shot, but that’s not likely if he can deflect bolts.

Probably the worst analysis/conclusion you guys have ever had, I get that you have a different criteria than most of the VS Community but Link's analysis and stats seemed straight up inaccurate to his battle vs Ridley on the main channel. They also just straight-up lied to give Vader win-conditions. Strong minds like Cad Bane resist mind tricks, Cad fended off Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Mace Windu's COMBINED attempt to control him and as shown with Vader failing to mind trick Jabba he cannot overcome such resistances, and the All-Nights Mask makes Link unable to fall asleep. The thing was used as a TORTURE DEVICE for that exact reason. The Fierce Deity Mask has the merits of all masks so Fierce Deity Link would still have that immunity.

My only real gripe with this is that ot really didn't feel like Link had the advantage for much of the fight, he only landed a slight scratch on Vader during the start, scarred him in the volcano and matched blows with him before dying, everywhere else, Link was just getting bodied. @@papapalps2415 duh, but when doing an animation of this style you have to make it interesting by having the characters fight back and forth, otherwise, it can feel stale (except in very specific circumstances like that being the point of the fight for comedic reasons,) and they could still portray the result of the fight well even if they have the characters matching blows, for instance, they could have portrayed Vader's superior strength by having him overpower Link whenever they clash weapons, but show Link's sheer willpower and stamina by having him overwhelm Vader with constant attacks, have him power through Vader's assault to catch him off-guard and land hits, show his superior arsenal by pulling out new weapons frequently to get the jump on Vader, etc. Even if that's not how the fight would realistically go it would make the animation a lot more interesting, as it is the animation is great, with smooth animation and choreography, but it's a little lacking in the fact that Link doesn't get to do much of value.

If I had a nickel for every time Link fought a famous villain from space, I'd have 2 nickels. Which isn't a lot but, it's weird that it happened twice. Right? Ok, seriously this was a really great fight. I think it's my favorite 3d fight the team made!!! Had some really cool moments especially for Vader. Vader definitely stole the show here. I absolutely loved the visceral "NO" Vader gave when he got trapped in the sand. One criticism I have is there was no real suspense to who was going to win. Besides hitting Vader with the arrow and the slice to his helmet, it didn't feel like Link got any major hits on Vader. More of a nitpick here, but I do wish Links slice on Vader's helmet would have revealed his an eye. It would have made Link's hit have more impact and could give Vader a chance to emote a little later in the fight. Like maybe showing his eyes narrow in contempt as he chokes Link to death, or widen in surprise a little as Link wearing the fierce deity mask knocks Vader against the wall. Also another minor nitpick is that I wish when Vader threw link near the lava that he caught on fire before Vader finished him off. Felt it would have been a good callback to Revenge of the Sith. Great job everyone!!!!

a composite link will just be practically immortal.. the number of fairies and dishes he can wear or mipha grace to come back to life and heal, his many invulnerability objects like daruk protection, the mystic set, nayru love, the magic cape, his magic armors from twilight princess and wind waker, and all that without any limitation thanks to the Château romani which will make them last three days. All the incarnations of the spirit of the hero combine in a person will not have a weak spirit and vader could neither control it, nor know what he is going to do, nor put him to sleep because he has the all night mask. link also has the truth mask allowing him to read minds. on top of that a composite link will have access to an absolutely ridiculous number of abilities and items, giving him counters to virtually every vader option. He is also faster, he can dodge laser, has the flurry rush (boost ×19 speed) the rabbit mask, the pegasus boots, or can even stop vader in time with cinetis, make go back in time any inanimate object with recall, he can also go back three days ago with his ocarina of time. and then the mask of fierce deity link is infinitely more powerful than vader, the ending of the animation has the same effect on me as watching the alternate ending of lucina vs rob, something is wrong, fierce deity link have stomps majora who destroyed an entire dimension by sending a moon to crash, moon in which he created a dimension which has a sun so infinitely stronger than vader who has his prime can destroys an imperial star killer and even if he will only have his sword in the game , in therms of lore fierce deity link has the merit of all the masks which allow him to read minds, never sleep, become giant, be invisible, go faster, (explode, or do yoga?) ect .. apart from all that, the video is very pleasant to watch and I can't wait to see the channel grow, just a little disappointed that the animation look so good for its lack of connection with the research

Solid reasoning, but could Link even use those items? Mind reading + precognition + telekinesis = an absolutely broken combo. Vader knows what items Link will use before even Link himself has decided to use them, and can effortlessly snatch them away, destroy them, or just using the force on him directly to limit his openings. A lot of the video's stats and scaling are really shaky, don't get me wrong, but unless Link's base speed is high enough to consistently stay ahead of Vader's mind reads and partial future-sight, then he's rarely going to get any chance to use his items. And since he's rarely shown starting combat while wearing a mask, he's unlikely to already be wearing one at the start of this fight. Link's busted inventory is a huge crux of his success in VS matches, and Vader happens to have the perfect combination of abilities to deny that key advantage.

​@Andre Babani universe stuff is bullcrap, Link intercepted and dodged Guardian beams without the 19x boost of Flurry Rush. Fierce Deity's on a cosmic level though, the item description text outright compares it to Majora and in the Manga he utterly destroyed Majora, oneshotting him in every form. Majora ranges from Continental destroying Termina to Multi Continental as that would life-wipe the rest of the planet to Star as his moon realm had a star in it.

@Andre Babani Yes it does, even though Link had the tools to do it, he had to be worthy and strong enough to use them. Plus it has been proven a couple of times in the series that the power of the weapon Link’s using goes hand in hand of Link’s own power. Impa gold Link that power of the Sacred Force flows through the Master Sword as it does him. The Golden Master Sword’s power also flows through Link in LttP. Link needed a specific amount of hearts to use the White Sword and Magic Sword in the Original LoZ game. The fact that Link was capable of using the Fierce Deity Mask which possesses a power just to even darker than the Majora’s Mask shows how powerful Link is to use the Mask. Plus as a Wolf he’s literally a living weapon against evil since Wolf Link can hurt Ganon, which the only other way to harm Ganon was Silver tipped arrows and the Master Sword. So Link’s weapons goes hand-in-hand in power with Link himself.

My dude, 2 things, precognition ( aka being able to see what's about to be done or happen) and the lightsaber. Link, for the most part is relying on being able to use his items and power ups, which Vader is likely to see coming, and would prevent it because he would be in such trouble. On the lightsaber point, there are only 3 things a lightsaber hasn't been able to cut through, as far as I know : bescar armour, viroblades, and blaster bolts. The first is straight up durability it seems, the second is because it is specifically built to prevent that from happening, so it's unfair to claim it as a point, and the last just bounces away instead. Other than that, lightsabers are supposedly capable of cutting thought anything at all, so without specific counters, it's going to cut link, and if not easily, then Vader is still one of the best jedi and sith in history, in both skill and potential, and possibly power, so that makes up for it

I like the many references in this video. From the limbs cutting off, a common thing in the early Star Wars days, to the fight finishing in a volcano, to Vader's reaction to Link using his true weakness... sand. I was voting for Link, but I knew Vader would've won. As a fan of both this was amazing. Match Ideas: Vector VS K.Rool Wario VS. Peppino Game and Watch VS. Pac-Man To name a few

Who'd win Ness or Lucas? I've always wondered who was stronger. I only played earthbound,but I'm not going to be biest and say Ness ;when they both have great options. Like New years eve bomb or the bear vs. Ness's Dragonite or PK LOVE vs. PK ROCKIN. They never canonically faced each other before,so it could be pretty cool,and a great idea. PK boys fight!
