I'm of two minds about this. On the one hand it sounds like a really complex and imaginative story, but on the other hand it sounds like another of far too many stories centered on mental illness that associate all mental illness with dangerous, violent and unstable people.

Worse than that it basically states "most insanity is caused by a handful of people who are not really human". That people around the main character commited self harm because of something corruptive in her nature passed on from her mother. It seems like a good but problemativ work.

This would make for a good movie! Perhaps a series. Also "Mother of Blades" is an awesome name.

That's my bumper at the end! The old woman getting killed is played by my grandmother. I may be biased, but I think she did a pretty good job... As always, thank you for picking one of my entries Lewis. It's an honor! The comic looks and sounds insane, but also incredible. Like many others have commented, I think it would be very interesting to see made as a film... The way the story played out, with the ongoing twists that just seemed to get more and more crazy, sort of reminded me of John Carpenter's In the Mouth of Madness (1994). Just the vibe I'm getting.

It's a sentiment that's echoed below, but the cosmology of this story sounds really interesting and I just wish they hadn't leant on the spooky mental illness tropes in it. It's always a bugbear of mine when stories with mental illness treat the mentally ill as monsters and murderers instead of, well, people who are ill.

A lot of horror comes off like less... hopeful action or just a sort of torture porn. This feels very unique and very unsettling in just the best way. I'm actually really impressed with this.

I really enjoyed this particular comics book series. You have to admit the creative mind of cullen bunn is very interesting to really pull something like this off. I really do hope that we get another installment at this entire series because it's been like few years since it was released

@1:38 I think that is actually a CPR practice dummy. You can tell by the replaceable mouth and chest cover. but then again a manequin with it's skin designed to look half there and half not works too.

I just saw Joker this week, and they show Arkham as being pretty awful - seeing this place in this story reminded me of that and it honestly made me a bit emotional.
