I remember being a 14 years old boy in a small Italian city, on the bus to school, at 7am. A friend of mine comes to me with a CD player. "you need to hear this", his eyes are somehow shiny. I plug the in ears and he presses "play". Suddenly "papercut" hits me. I vividly remember that something clicked in my head. "What the heck is this? Why I feel different than a moment ago? Music can really be THIS good?". Linkin Park have been my gateway to post-grunge and metal. Hearing this newly released songs today, as a 35 years old man, makes me feel exactly the same as that 14 year old boy again. Thank you Linkin Park for this.

I was about 9 when I heard hybrid theory, an older friend and I shared head phones on his cd Walkman and we just sat and listened in awe. When meteora was released that album came everywhere with me and was the backdrop to many bus rides like yourself. Had to share as I resonated so much with your story :)

Lyrics: It′s safe to say, I've always felt this way Holding back my words again For fear, they′re uninvited Now, it's safe to say This point that I've been wrong, and it′s all been a mess I listen to the cars drive by and don′t know why that I couldn't have left But now, I′m stuck in the middle of a situation that I made appear You be surprised at how scared of the clarity You could be 'til you see it′s so clear But it's like I can′t really look at it rationally Wishing that you could look back what I see These things happen, but actually The things that happened have happened to me, so don't try to tell me it's all okay I′m reaching for this to fall away Yesterday′s problems here again today and it's safe to say It′s safe to say, I've always felt this way Holding back my words again For fear, they′re uninvited But now, it's safe to say This point you′ve been wrong, and it's all been a mess I placed all the signals out there and don't know why that you couldn′t have guessed And now you′re stuck in the middle of a situation that you made so real and you gotta just play with the cards that you got until it's your turn to deal But it′s like I can't really look at it rationally Wishing that you could look back what I see Everything you ever asked me to be Is there in the smallest fraction of me, so don′t try to tell me it's all okay You′re reaching for this to fall away Yesterday's problems here again today and it's safe to say It′s safe to say, I′ve always felt this way Holding back my words again For fear, they're uninvited But now, it′s safe to say No more regrets (I broke them down) No boundaries left (I broke them down) No asking how (I broke them down) No stopping now It's safe to say, I′ve always felt this way Holding back my words again For fear, they're uninvited But now it′s safe to say This fear is just a plague I'm taking back my heart again No longer undivided Now it's safe to say

I feel like people are still sleeping on Mike's verses in these new songs/demos. The rhythm and way the words flow are mesmerizing. I think Healing Foot and More the Victim have some of the best flows of any LP track I've heard. I might even say that they are the best part of the two songs.
@evanurena8868
@evanurena8868 11 ай бұрын
I second this. Especially Healing Foot, because this track is personally my favorite Meteora demo. Yes, I even enjoy it more then Lost. The melodic layering of heavy guitars, piano, and violin in the background of Mike's profound wordplay and Chester's powerful vocals adds more depth to the mesmerizing atmosphere of this track. Truly underrated because i wish people would give this song just as much attention and credit as Lost or Fighting Myself.
@bellarosa_
@bellarosa_ 10 ай бұрын
@@evanurena8868 Fighting Myself is way too good to be looked over imo, it's quickly become one of my favorite LP songs period. It could've been on the album way back in the day and fit in perfectly. The only criticism I have for it is that the lead guitar is just a tad too raw with little variation in riffs (it really only gets to shine during the last minute of the track).
@evanurena8868
@evanurena8868 10 ай бұрын
@@bellarosa_ I really love Fighting Myself as well, especially when it comes to the distorted samples of singing vocals and brad's riffs synchronizing with mikes rap verses. Mikes rap verses, the sampling, Chester's harmonies, and Brad's background riffs cohesively make the song such a powerful example of linkin park's talented production. I agree that could have been a great addition along with Lost and Healing Foot and also wish we got a live version of Fighting Myself.

It’s amazing to finally hear Healing Foot in full, but here’s the thing: with the power of hindsight? This has traces of Minutes To Midnight & a hint of A Thousand Suns. That’s talking the production on it, the arrangement, the tones they were experimenting with here.. Honestly in their push to expand their sound on Meteora? They’d already started tapping into what would be the tectonic time that those two records [MTM, ATS] would be. Hearing tracks like this and, “She Couldn’t,” blow my mind. Thank you Linkin Park, for everything 🙌❤️‍🩹

i'm a much younger kid and didn't grow up with Linkin Park or anything like that, but one day we're in the car and my dad starts playing "In the End" I don't like it, like, at all. He then plays "Numb" and i say its okay. Almost a whole year later i start listening to Linkin Park and i cant stop. Linkin Park's songs are so good and carry so much emotion and probably i little more than i should, i relate to the lyrics. Linkin Park's music is incredibly relatable and has made me close to crying due to how close it hit home. A few weeks ago, me and my dad were screaming to "In the End" and "Numb"

I don't think there are words that can describe the feeling I had when I saw this. Nostalgia, maybe? Not sure, but it was definitely a good feeling. Gotta say that I grew up listening to ALL Linkin Park songs, I don't think there's a single one I dislike. May Chester, wherever he is, be in peace with himself, maybe blessing the skies with his singing.

You and me both, same age. I got meteora, projekt reanimation, minutes to midnight and a thousand suns cds'. Unfortunately lost them due to flooding and moving houses. I hope I can recollect them again one day but tracking original cds is not hard but expensive but I'll get them all eventually back one day just for the memories and nostalgia. Linkin Park helped me out of a really dark place so it's amazing to hear new old music again after such a long time. Hearing Chester's voice again made me 8 again listening with my dad on road trips all those years ago. I hope you had a similar if not a better nostalgic experience listening to meteora again.

Music never really _stops_ sounding good. Classical is pretty good if you have the taste for it. Linkin Park didn't have some precognitive sight, they just made peak quality music. Their music will likely live on longer than any of us will, and that's a legacy that the entire band should be proud of.

[Intro: Chester Bennington] It's safe to say, I've always felt this way Holding back my words again For fear, they're uninvited Now, it's safe to say [Verse 1: Mike Shinoda] This point that I've been wrong and it's all been a mess I listen to the cars drive by and don't know why that I couldn't have left But now, I'm stuck in the middle of a situation that I made appear You'd be surprised at how scared of the clarity you could be 'til you see it's so clear [Pre-Chorus: Mike Shinoda] But it's like I can't really look at it rationally Wishing that you could look back what I see These things happen but actually The things that happened have happened to me So don't try to tell me it's all okay I'm reaching for this to fall away Yesterday's problems here again today and it's safe to say [Chorus: Chester Bennington] It's safe to say, I've always felt this way Holding back my words again For fear, they're uninvited But now, it's safe to say [Verse 2: Mike Shinoda] This point you've been wrong and it's all been a mess I placed all the signals out there and don't know why that you couldn't have guessed And now you're stuck in the middle of a situation that you made so real And you gotta just play with the cards that you got until it's your turn to deal [Pre-Chorus: Mike Shinoda] But it's like I can't really look at it rationally Wishing that you could look back what I see Everything you ever asked me to be Is there in the smallest fraction of me So don't try to tell me it's all okay You're reaching for this to fall away Yesterday's problems here again today and it's safe to say [Chorus: Chester Bennington] It's safe to say, I've always felt this way Holding back my words again For fear, they're uninvited But now, it's safe to say [Bridge: Chester Bennington] No more regrets (I broke them down) No boundaries left (I broke them down) No asking how (I broke them down) No stopping now [Chorus: Chester Bennington] It's safe to say, I've always felt this way Holding back my words again For fear they're uninvited But now it's safe to say This fear is just a plague I'm taking back my heart again No longer undivided Now it's safe to say
