2:46 I love the grit in the last "Holding on,". It's one of my favorite things Chester did when singing, when something was too high, he'd usually sing a little lower and add a little gravel in there... So good...

I think it's beautiful how he can control his own vocals like that

You could tell Chester was fighting a cold during this otherwise you could.listen to other versions and its much more crisp and precise. Not saying its vad as chester always made the best of things but you can just tell. Miss you Chester.

That last "holding on" lmao

props for not using a recording, or auto tune. that song is written in a pretty high key, slightly out of his range maybe. also think this was an early/day engagement. Try singing that song, it is hard as fuck.

Dude this guy has been hitting A4#s since HT and he doesnt even sound like a tenor

Oh this is not out of Chester’s range, trust me. Dude was on the verge of suicide at this point in his life. He didn’t warm up or exercise his vocal cords. Plus, a lot of time before a performance, it’s good to have a chiropractor adjust some of your joints so your posture is good, and your airway can open up and your voice box flows freely at that point. Point being, I highly doubt Chester cared enough to take care of his vocal cords at the point in time that this was recorded.

Could be true, but I'm pretty sure its more his age than anything else.Lets remember how much of his life he was really stuck in depression and remember this guy had a theatre school training and was one of the few and very best clean screamers of all time.He has always used depression to fuel the emotions of his songs and If you can check him singing songs in other genres and by other artists from old rock to rnb this dude had learned to use many timbres and for the amount of strength his linkin park voice had just in chest voice even for a tenor this dude was a dedicated vocalist through and through

@@matt10342 actually, I saw a speech their tour manager gave about him in that era, and he said Chester was warming up even more than he ever did before, and seemed at his best, vocally.
