Blickt man zurück, so erkennt man Anzeichen für ‘One More Light‘ in Linkin Parks vorherigen Veröffentlichungen.

Seeing Chester listen to what Mike was saying about One More Light at the 17min+ mark was really sad :[ He wasn't nodding like the host/others do when in that situation, and the eyebrow raise at 18:32 seemed to be like "Whoa, ok that's done" I know this was before Cornell's passing, but still :[ You can tell he's always thinking about the pain/sadness inside

Can someone help me understand this, please?

@Memories_in_Chains 6 жыл бұрын
Acyutananda 108 You know depression didn't have a face. Ppl with mental illnesses like depression learn to hide their real feelings mostly because they afraid of showing them because someone would probably laugh at them. You can feel so good or even fantastic. You can have fun with your friends and just be happy but your mind is like Chester said a bad neighborhood you can't go in there alone. Depression is like a dark room with one light. You can see it but you can't reach it somehow. It's like you're trapped in there. You're trying so hard to get out of that room but it doesn't work. Because... Everything can be a trigger for your thoughts. It can be a word a melody or a person. That's why depression is so dangerous. No matter what you say it can be a trigger for someone. So I always think before I speak. But sadly for the most ppl suicide is the way out of their dark room. They dont do it to hurt us. They do it because they dont see another way. And that's why depression is called a demon. Sadly Chester had those demons and he lost his last fight.

@BecsWorld 5 жыл бұрын
im a year late but i wanted to say i truly appreciate the fact that you admit that you DONT understand and are asking for people to HELP you understand. its sad that i rarely see that. i have like......multiple different mental illnesses but ill focus on the depression/suicidality that i deal with. its hard to actually put it into words but if i were forced to, clinical depression (which is a diagnosis that marks the difference between being sad or depressed vs. HAVING depression) is like free fall except theres no ground to land on. theres no parachute and theres no one waiting at the bottom to catch you. you feel completely alone and isolated, yet your depression tells you to STAY isolated at the same time. you dont wanna ask for help because you dont want to bother anyone or you feel like people dont care about you. no matter how many times a loved one expresses how deeply they care for you as a human being, there is always that part of your brain that is convinced that they're lying to you. because how could anyone love you? you're worthless. you're nothing. nobody could ever love you and you will die alone. you're a horrible human being and should never have been born. your parents would be better off. your friends probably hate you. you're single because you dont deserve to be loved. your significant other is with you out of pity. you cry yourself to sleep countless times throughout your life. you have an episode over the smallest things. you feel extremely depressed and have no idea why. you're having a good time with friends or family but none of them know that you're thinking about how much you hate yourself even while they compliment you. you've mastered hiding your emotions and putting on this faux mask because youre afraid to be yourself or else people might leave you. you have it mastered so well that you could win an oscar for your performance. you could genuinely be happy at specific moments but that doesnt negate how miserable you feel. youre waiting for the other shoe to drop because your "happiness" never lasts. you're exhausted from constantly fighting your own mind and recovery feels impossible, unattainable. you can't take it anymore and the only way to end your suffering is suicide. you don't believe that "it gets better" or that recovery is possible because you dont wanna get your hopes up while waiting forever to make a significant breakthrough. even if you do get to a better place, relapse is possible at any point in time, sometimes without warning. and you cant go through that again. why cant you just get better? why can others do it, but not you? why do you see people's success stories as something to put yourself down over instead of motivating you to fight? why do you keep fighting but you never win? why? why YOU? all of that is what i say to and about myself every single day that i am awake. and a lot of those things are common among those with depression. and the worst thing about clinical depression is when its chronic for you, meaning that you will never ever TRULY "get better." there is no cure. there's no medicine that will fix you. you can reach recovery but every waking moment you have to be on guard because you can relapse at any point. you never truly rest. the battle is never truly won because it does not end. you will deal with it until the day you die. and when it's so bad, you are not willing to wait for that day because you don't know when it will be your time. so instead you accelerate that process. its not selfish or anything. in your mind, you're doing the world a favor. no one will miss you. people will be better off. they'll get over it. you're not special. its not like you matter. but if you just waited for the worst of your feelings to pass, you would realize that there are people who would be devastated without you. sadly, you're too far gone and dont allow yourself the time to talk yourself out of it or think rationally about it. and so you never reach that inevitable point where the worst of how you currently feel subsides within that episode. and that right there is where the main problem lies. its the sense of urgency that goes with this feeling. when you are past the threshold of being able to think somewhat clearly, use coping skills, or calling someone, it's extremely difficult to regulate your mind enough to use the skills that you have. you forget them. that is the most dangerous point of a major mental breakdown because if you get there and swim in it for too long, you could make a permanent "choice." but of course there are also people who plan ahead and nothing deters them from said plan even as they go through multiple days with other people surrounding them. however, more often than not, suicides are unplanned and are very much an "in the moment" thing. thats what it was for chester. it wasnt like he was in this facebook live planning anything or intending to do anything. sure his depression was present, but he wasn't past that threshold. but when its the birthday of your very close friend and influence (chris cornell) who ended his own life 2 months prior and youre by yourself at home, it all becomes too much. sorry this was so long but i hope that helped

Hey, you posted this 2 years ago, I hope that my explanation would still be welcome. What you need to understand is that depression is not the same as sadness. People with depression are not constantly crying or sad, they can appear normal. And sometimes, they really ARE happy. Chester said himself that whenever he was around other people he was fine, but when he was alone with his thoughts, that was when things got rough. Well, here he is with other people. He had a distraction. For all we know, he could have been genuinely happy there. Also, many times people fake being fine when they are depressed. They smile, either because they don't want to worry others, or are afraid of being judged, or they just want to look fine. They will laugh and tell jokes because even though they aren't happy, they want others to be. Sometimes it's even a coping mechanism. We'll never know which case applied to Chester- whether he was having a better day or just faked it for the camera- but either way, smiling and laughing does not make a person any less depressed.

For those who are saying things like oh he doesn't look depressed or things of that nature, this interview and all the rest of the interviews tour bites ect during his last week's in particular , it is quite likely that his seemingly "okay" behaviour that does not appear to be depressive behavior rather he looks as though he's completely out of the depression again is because he had likely already decided to take his life so the "okay" and not depressed behavior is because all his pain had lifted and he was finally feeling free of his demons and happy with his decision ect

I don`t understand how someone can look so NOT depressed and few months later....honestly, was he in an emotional rollercoaster that he felt from great(like here) to terrible, or was he a great actor and was able to mask all of the pain that watcher (like me) thinks he is very happy indeed, I am in disbelief and scared too that depression can have a happy face

Well, I dont know if you suffer from depression or not (hopefully you dont) but I've been suffering from depression for over two years and my only answer to this question is "you get better at hiding it the more you've been depressed" A few months ago,I told all of my friends i was depressed on social media. The majority of my friends replied with "you did not look depressed. You were so happy" Even if you know someone has depression, its still really hard to tell by the way they hide it.

I don’t know why but watching and then looking at the date..makes me even more so think Chester couldn’t have done this to himself, he always speaks of his “depression” in PAST tense...and it’s crazy how less than two months later he actually ends it all even after speaking of life and how it was “worth fighting for” but contradicts every word he speaks by the actions he just decided to take that point of no return. Granted he loss his close friend , but that just seems SO far out of the realm for him to take his own life knowing that he ultimately would leave his wife and kids now in turmoil for the rest of THEIR lives?!..for someone that was so beyond giving and cherished all he had worked for and life he was living, it just doesn’t make sense that he would leave them KNOWING the devastation it would cause everyone that was in his inner circle (hence his wife, kids and band -the band that obviously depended on him as a piece of something they ultimately helped create TOGETHER for sooo long, NONE OF THOSE THOUGHTS NEVER CROSSED HIS MIND SECONDS BEFORE ???!??...unfuckinbelievable, but unfortunately I don’t think ANY of us “fans” will/would never know the truth ( if perhaps there was more to it than we were ever told ?!)...nevertheless less I miss you Chester , your lyrics will live with all us forever hence why you’ll remain a “legend” because your lyrics spoke for MILLIONS across the whole globe because that’s one thing we ALL HAVE IN COMMON no matter where we’re from or what walk of life we’ve lived -EMOTIONS...we’re all human and it’s inevitable to not FEEL ...love and hate which is a lot of what he sang about ..and we all can one way or another RELATE. ❤️💔🎶

Alyson Cairns every failed suicide attempt is because they know they will hurt who they leave behind, so they carry the pain for longer. In the end the pain is too much - they don't want to die and leave everyone, they just want the pain to stop. And after fighting for so long they are tired of worrying about how making the pain stop will affect others, so they just make it stop.

Famke Freckles I’d have to disagree on every “failed suicide attempt” is because of the fear of others and hurting them. I’ve read plenty of times of where people are found very soon after and live because they get them medical attention in time or because they don’t take enough of whatever they’ve chose to take their own lives or perhaps the item their using doesn’t work out the way they planned and breaks...

Alyson Cairns I meant every time they tried to commit suicide but didn't really follow through, "chickened out" as some might say. Not failed as in rescued/revived

in the nicest way possible this is an incredibly skewed view of depression that is harmful to those with it and only furthers the stigma. of course i dont know your mental health status, but still. a lot of the questions you presented are misinformed, so ill address them briefly. 1. chester wasnt depressed, he HAD depression. those are extremely different. when you have severe clinical depression, as in diagnosed with it, it's usually chronic, meaning that you will have it until the day you die. you may be in recovery and be at a better place, but there will always be a chance that you fall into another depressive episode. which makes it even harder to continue fighting bc the fight never stops. 2. contrary to popular belief most suicides are completely unplanned and are instead an "in the moment" thing. everything chester has said about depression and recovery was true and he meant it. however, if you have a major depressive episode and become suicidal with intent, you forget those things. the pain outweighs whatever rationale you can manage to grasp at. 3. i can tell you love chester so dont take this personally, but saying how could he do this knowing how his loved ones would feel is kind of victim blaming, feeding the stigma that suicide is selfish. its not. mental illness is real. when ppl attempt that, its because the pain is unbearable and you cant take it anymore. all of those extreme feelings will calm down enough for you to make it through, but not if you dont give yourself the time to allow that. when youre in that state, you genuinely believe that people will either get over it and be fine or that nobody will care in the first place. when i get to that place, i think my parents would be better off and that im doing them a favor, but when i calm down a bit, i remember how much they love me and how neither of them would ever be okay again if i did that. you just want the pain to stop, not for your family to suffer. but what life is it to live for others and not yourself? thats what i think when im in that mindset. 4. depression does not have a face. thats why its so dangerous and deadly. to you and others, it seems so unlike chester to have gone through with this, but people with mental illness typically have learned to master hiding it, especially when we are at our worst. you cant know what is going through a persons head. thats why its important that we erase stigma so people like me and chester feel a bit more comfortable opening up to people and being honest. 5. suicide doesn't make sense and it will never make sense. thats the problem. even for those who go through with it, a lot of the time when we dont feel such a heavy mental weight, we think how we could never truly go through with it. thats how i feel. but when im in the middle of a panic attack and im crying my eyes out and i cant breathe, it makes all the sense in the world suddenly and i forget how previously id promised myself id never do it. 6. most of the time theres no "more to the story" about suicide other than the persons mental health status that they hid from those around them and of course their personal life. but at the end of the day, its the mental state. theres nothing more to it than they just got tired of fighting and felt alone and thought they would not be missed. 7. im 98% certain chester did not plan it, which means it was an in the moment thing when he was at an incredibly low point that was past his personal "threshold" of how much he can tolerate before reaching what psychology calls "the point of no return." you can return from it, but it is 10x more difficult to do so once you pass that threshold. i have some idea as to when ive officially crossed my threshold and need to act quickly before its too late. other times, i can see the moment where i had to do something in hindsight. my point here is that its fairly safe to say that chester was triggered because it was chris cornell's birthday, just 2 months after chris took his own life. chester was very close to chris (who i am also a fan of him). soundgarden was at their peak in the 90s, which was when chester was a teenager. he grew up listening to them. he was influenced by chris. and they shared very similar struggles in terms of mental health and addiction. when chris did what he did, its likely that chester had moments of "well if CHRIS couldnt do it, how CAN I do it??" i dont blame those around him and ppl might not have put together that chester was alone on chris' bday. im pretty sure mike didnt even know he had come back home since he was with talinda out of state (or somewhere further in cali) the night prior. didnt wanna make this super long but i think i covered everything i needed to cover

Ugh, I hate when Chester goes down to the crowd (or a little group of people like this one) to sing with them and they simply put a camera right in his face, like wtfff he's being so cool and friendly and Intimate and you're screwing everything. I know it's something you want to film but calm down there are like more than 20 cameras filming it

@@youaremypotato89 if you look closely, you will notice that while the band did a large run of promo shows and interviews in Europe throughout March and April of 2017, Brad was in only a few of these. I believe he couldn't fly with them and do these interviews for personal reasons, hence why he was missing so much. Also, as a Jewish person I just thought I could point out: 1. Shabbat (our holy day) is from sunset at Friday to sunset at Saturday. 2. I don't think Brad keeps Shabbat. I know he eats Kosher, but there are many different levels of observance and many Jewish people keep certain Jewish traditions but not all. And I saw a video where they said that in 2001 they played around 300 shows, which dosen't add up if he couldn't play on Shabbat and they had some time off between tours (I know they had). Thank you for thinking about it though! Most people don't really consider these stuff, it's really nice to see people acknowledge it.

I think he had a leg injury that he had to tale care of, so he couldn't do the promo tour with them. In the behind the scenes of the mv for Good Goodbye you can see him on crutches, and if you look at different interviews they did in March- April 2017, he isn't in any of them.
