Every time a beat enters the yellow area (and the yellow area's size is misleading - it's equal to one beat, as you can see in the very first section of the video) you hit the space bar. If the beat track isn't lit up, then you don't have to hit the space bar for that track, as you can see with the blond music kid's first few bars. When you hear the "GET, SET, GO!" count in, that's telling you the tempo of the two-beat counts. When you hear "AND STOP!" you stop doing two-beat counts. The shaking maracas let you know how long to hold a hold note, and while you hold that note, all other tracks autoplay themselves, getting you perfect accuracy. Xs on a beat track mean you won't hear that beat played in the audio, but you can still see the X light up on that beat if you need it. As Hugh shows us when it's just him and the politician, there is no difference between the politician's beat track and a sped-up normal track.

The end patterns are complex, but they're fed to you very slowly so you only have to get used to what each line does one at a time. Look at Classy or Invisible in the main game for similar ideas, especially their Night Shift variants.
