Happy Weekend! What a great way to start mine by watching your vlog! Love watching you share your day to day life with us, and showing that it’s not so different with how I raised mine. Btw, your lillies are beautiful! I also like Lillie’s, but can’t have them in my house, the pollen makes me sneeze. Also, love the recipes you serve for your meals.

I know the feeling of worrying; my daughter is starting to go to school on her own by bicycle, but its a little over 3 km away on the other side of town. That soy sauce rice koji is so handy in that bag. I didn't know they had that, only the shio koji I knew. I'm going to look for that next time I'm in Japan! Seeing you going to the stores makes me really look forward to be back in Japan. But that's still 7 months away, but I can make my wish list of where I want to go hahaha. You season the kakuni from the beginning; I didn't know that works as well! I always parboil the meat fist (probably the traditional way) but this is so much easier! And what a great idea to add fried tofu to the kakuni! Those fried onions you put on the nabe really work as a seasoning for meatballs :) I knead them with other seasonings with the raw meat and it adds such a good flavour. I'm surprised to see children's day decoration already as it's still about 5 weeks away.

You have enough time to make your wish list, and I bet it will be very long 🤣 The marketers are getting more and more het up each year for every event 🤣

Hello Linna! I am happy to see S going out on his own, he's growing up so fast and I am proud of you for letting him spread his wings a little bit. It is important for children to feel a sense of independence. I can't imagine how scary it was for the both of you!! Well done. I bought a hyacinth flower the other day, it is bright pink and absolutely lovely. It lives on our porch to greet us when we get back home with its sweet scent. It is nice to have something to take care of besides my cat (I adore my cat). I like gently touching the petals and singing to the flower. I think all living things deserve love and joy and that goes for plants too. Hyacinths bloom for about a month. Once it is done blooming, I will plant it in my garden so it can bloom again next year! As always your food looks so yummy, and thank you for uploading. These videos always make me smile. I have next week off, because it is spring break/spring holiday, so I will be focusing on catching up on my school work and doing some house chores. Today, I am seeing Godzilla x Kong and getting my ears re-pierced (I had them done a long time ago, but I got very sick for a few months and did not wear earrings, so the holes closed). I am thinking about getting my helix (the cartilage part of your upper ear) done as well, but I will see if I can afford it! I am not worried about the pain, I am very lucky to have a strong pain tolerance. I hope you and your family have a great week full of sunshine and love!
@LinnainJapan6 ай бұрын
You are right, I can’t hold them in my arms forever, so it is a better way to train them to be independent. Hyacinth is a popular flower here in the spring too. You can wear nice earrings after that and I am happy for you 🥰

I am of Italian heritage and we make the rapa different. We give them a quick boil, then an ice bath. Sauté them in olive oil and either serve them as a side or add sausage and pasta. It’s delicious anyway you eat it.

Koji is not a common ingredient in the US (yet), though it can be ordered online. I was wondering Linna if you could describe how it tastes? Is it anything like soy sauce or miso? Thanks for sharing your day-to-day life with us. I admire how much attention you put into caring for and educating your children. 🏵
@LinnainJapan6 ай бұрын
Thani you my friend. The Koji itself has very very light natural sweetness, but moreover it is savory as it is salted. It enhanced the flavor of the food but doesn’t provide Uchi flavor from itself. I am sorry, I hope my poor explanation helps a bit ?

Hi Linna, the Daphne is so gorgeous smelling, isn't it! Just curious, why do you call the pork you bought 'black meat', when it's red meat? Is it the style of preparing it? As I say, just curious. Everything you cook looks incredibly delicious! ❤
@janicetucker96136 ай бұрын
Maybe it’s a typo she has since fixed, but she calls it “blocked meat”. If you notice it’s cut in one piece, where normally everything she buys is shaved, sliced or chunked. At least that’s my interpretation.

Sorry, it was a typo, I was meant to say blocked meat 🍖 I will check with more care next time 🙏

It’s funny as l let my 10 year old go to baseball practice all on his own, even my 6 year old likes to go to the combini for me sometimes it gives them a sense of freedom and responsibility at the same time. Watching S go by himself was such a milestone. But, kind of a tiny little scary. Growing up so fast. If you cut the stamen, with the pollen tips, off lilies will last a bit longer because the flower does not have expend energy to procreate. The same reason why roses are deadheaded. Just my opinion. You meals always are a feast for the eyes too.
