I know with the storms it can be a bit difficult to calm yourself. Here we are preparing for teh autumn storms to roll in. already this week only downpoor of rain and windy :( Glad to hear that this typhoon didn't bring that much wind. The pad thai set is from Muji? I love their products. Years ago they had a make your own purple sweet potato mix that one was delicious. Don't know if they have it still. The Kamakura book looks like so much fun. If I can find it on amazon I think I'll get that one. Are that dried fish yuo had for dinner? I sometimes marinated fish in mirin but we cannot get dried here. your dinner looks delicious! My daughter isn't that fond of shiso as well. perhaps it is more of an adult taste. I have the same rules as you; bno snacks or dessert if you don't eat your regular meals. The okonomiyaki looks great. I cannot get yams easily so if I have it I use nagaimo powder (handy to have in your patry) though I read soemwhere that flowery potatoes can also work. Our go to is a pork belly and green onions one. I always add some dashi powder as well as some miso. Always a bit sad to see the last of teh summer fruits, but i'm looking firward to the kaki being in season again :) the food on your date looks delicious. My husband doesn't eat fish, so in Japan it is always either an tonkatsu place or curry plave he want's to go to. Though sometimes I convinve him to come with me to ootoya :)

I love pork with green onion too! When I get fresh KUJYONEGI, some kind of bigger green onion, I like to make the green onion version of Okonomiyaki! Yes! Yam powder is such a clever idea! I agree that the Shiso leaves is an adult taste, usually kids don’t like it😅 My husband don’t like fish either so it was me convinced him to go to that restaurant once a blue moon 🌚 We have so many things in line! I feel like my kids need to know all the snacks too, but on the other hand I want them to eat well. 😃

So happy to hear that you all stayed safe from the typhoon & it left quickly too🙏 I love Tempura...so lightly crispy & perfect taste...yes, I much prefer vegetables in Tempura batter. Such different recipes...I don't know that I could eat the fermented beans...just looking at them makes me nervous, for some reason, but I love the idea of the kimchi & cabbage in the pancakes...I would even add green onions I think to mine...I'm going to try this for sure. I got a head of cabbage & green onions in my grocery order today & I have plenty of kimchi right now. Yum! Yes, a grapefruit spoon would be perfect for removing the seeds...great idea, Linna! Hi Linna, happy Thursday from NZ I love the colour of your red geranium, and I really like Okonomaiyaki. I can't get either Japanese yam, nor natto here, but as they're both slimy I wouldn't like them anyway. I just use cabbage, spring or green onions and some type of meat like ham or bacon and seasonings. My absolute favourite tempura are eggplant, sweet potato and prawn! You can totally skip the Japanese yam and Natto! Another suggestion is seafood if you like! Prawn and squid are popular options together with pork slices! You are a granny! How lovely 🥰

I’m glad your family made it through the typhoons ok. It’s hard to stay calm in the unknown especially when you have children. We have family in the path of hurricane in Florida. We pray and leave it in Gods hands. I love to watch your boys eat. I felt like crying when you said your boy would always be your baby. I have 4 boys and I know exactly what you mean. a storm had passed over our country 2 days ago and now it's still rainy because there might be another typhoon forming on the horizon. i think the typhoons that hit Japan a couple of weeks ago passed our country first. Japan and my country, the Philippines, are vulnerable when it comes to typhoons, it's crazy! 😫
