Usually its the price, while a mid-high end iphone costed like $350 (kicking prices, i dont live in the US), and the high end one costed like $400, android phones had several options, even really low end shitty ones for like $70. But yeah "gamers" and "enthusiasts" will probably get it for piracy, but lets not forget the old jailbreak wich allowed older iphones to also do piracy. USB OTG is actually huge. My business uses an app to interface with HVAC and cooling systems to run diagnostics, recommend repairs that calculates payback and determines efficiency, capacity and cost of running equipment. We get nice kickbacks from utilities with bad grids and definitely helps knowing where budgets will be spent. Anyhow the app does so much more collecting all the data into a portal with many options like generating reports based on what equipment is costing the most to operate. One huge problem on the Apple side is no USB OTG needed to interface between USB and the serial ports most of the equipment is currently using. Maybe 10 or 20 years when the equipment has been replaced with wireless option but hardly cost effective replacing thousands of dollars of equipment just to be able to talk with an IOS device.

Sometimes in third world countries, you need to have a fucking credit card to pay outside of the country. It's not that I don't want to pay, it's that I can't pay. the prices for some of it is reasonable, but, 99% of the time is crazy like do you really need to pay 6.99 to remove ads, in my country 6.99 is enough to feed and entire family for a day. So, using apks is reasonable to some extent. For my personal use I sometimes enjoy testing out the paid version and using it for a week or so to see if it is worth my money.

I go to CMU (one of the best CS schools in the world) literally 95% of my cohort uses mac's and iPhones (you can just look into a lecture hall and see the Apple logos)... Similarly when I interned at Google I saw more SWE's with Iphones than Android's I would say 55/45 split at G... XD. HERE! Android forever. i will NEVER touch an apple device again. speaking of which... that logo. ever wonder why the "apple" only has 1 bite out of it? either: a. it was rotten or b. someone just didn't want it. either way i dont want an apple someone else has bitten. thanks. also could be a metaphor for the company taking a "bite" out of your wallet. either way i want nothing to do with that overpriced nonsense.

The closed off nature of iOS and data exploration is the reason I'm never going to bother with an iPhone. I prefer to manually manage my files (music, video, and photos) and you can't do that with the iPhone.

Tbh I only have an iphone because it was the only phone my parents would get me for free, Every app I got off the appstore would “loose authentication” and I would need to re-install them with the data wiped. I use to have an android that I loved but it broke.

Like Linus said why is it pain in the ass only for moving musics? I have a first gen iPad and I want to move some of my musics to there so I can listen to music while reading, but no you have to download freaking iTunes!
