I am the nurse who commented in twitch chat… I am sorry for saying it’s a myth, I just meant that we have patients come in all the time saying “I need a butterfly” and we have 3 sizes of butterfly needle 23 21 and 17 gauge…. Sometimes nurses will grab the bigger ones and use on patients with better veins. Butterfly doesn’t mean it’s smaller - But to the public generally does. I was trying to inform you of the medical side of things where anyone in healthcare knows butterfly means wings on the needle primarily. Just a terminology thing, not saying your vasovagal response isn’t real, just saying a butterfly means more than one thing!

I work in DevSecOps at a mobile gaming company, and I don't even know all the data we collect and what we do with it. I reckon there's probably less than 10 out of 200 people who know anything about it at all, and less than 5 who know everything about what's collected and what we do with it. I don't even know the full scope.

I just downloaded all of my Snapchat personal data and the amount of GPS location data (including perfectly accurate workplace, and home) phone app usage, websites visited they use on me was enough to build a perfect estimate of my interests and my finances and yet all the ads they try to serve me are seemingly for a teenage girl. They know every single place I shop at, places I commonly visit, websites I frequent, apps I use. It was enough to make me immediately close my account. It doesn't surprise me that they don't know how to utilize what they have or know enough to keep that information out of the wrong people's hands

Scrapping the project just means they don’t want to sink more money into it because it isn’t expected to make much money back. Data Engineer here. Car manufactures selling data has been around for a while and has only grown in more recent years. Old way of doing it was keeping it tracked on the car and then downloading it when at a dealer. But newer forms use the radio and even wifi a vehicle can utilize to send it out nearly every time you drive. Semi trucks use RTLS and then send the data to a Kafka event stream and is read in real time. They use similar now in cars. Amount of information tracked is scary.

Audio engineer here - lower all your gain and raise channel volume instead. I can hear a ton of room echo and conpressor stomp which is indicative of high gain low volume. I also hear a noise gate which isn't necessary with 2 people - you don't want ZERO volume on content, it causes the listener to focus on the audio, not the content, also we see people on screen and we expect to hear what we see, but we don't hear it (clothes rustle, papers, drinking water, etc. The gate is closing off the size of the room and removes the listener from the audience, and puts them "outside the room" so to speak. If you have background noise issues, then I suggest using a noise suppressor like a cedar dns, each channel needs its own filtering. That will sound better than the gate. I do broadcast and have done many live streams for internet (disney, twitch, private clients) so I'm willing to help.

The big problem with driving data is that it has no way of showing if you're a good driver or a bad driver. All it can show is how fast or slow you go and what your braking or accelleration is, and on a good day if you're breaking a speed limit. It can't tell if you're mowing down pedestrians, tailgating, not signalling lane changes or turns, or signalling so late it makes no difference, if you're blocking traffic, running stopsigns and lights, slowing down in construction zones, paying attention to something other than the bumper ahead of you, daydreaming, arguing, failing to pull over for ambulances, firetrucks and cops with lights and or sirens going, leaving your high beams on in traffic, road-raging, driving the wrong lane, turning into the wrong lane, leaving your lane too soon in a turn, not paying attention to other vehicles, driving an unsafe car, driving too aggressively for the weather conditions, ignoring your blindspot in a lane-chage, backing across a lane of traffic, using the HOV lane illegally... And inusance companies don't care if you never cause collisions, your rate is determined by your speed and if you wear a seatbelt. Don't be carless to not wear it, but it's not an indicator of your driving ability.

Excessive braking and acceleration recklessness are excellent indicators of aggressive and inappropriate driving. As you say they don't pick up everything but they pick up a lot and some of the things you talk about like say texting or not paying attention or tailgating are partly picked up by said sudden braking or acceleration. You keep saying it's not an indicator of ability but it obviously is because it is reflected in higher rates. They aren't setting the rates higher just for laughs as they say innthe wan car insurance is a cuthroat industry so the moment you can slightly more accurately price your insurance is actual margin for you until the other insurance companies catch up. If these things didn't correlate with worse outcomes for cars raising rates on these people would be a losing proposition since they'll just go to another insurer and lose a customer who wasn't going to make claims.

TCS heuristic data and parking/driver assist sensors would do better but aren't as brain dead to interpret by an average insurance adjuster. At the end of the day it's not a reasonable proposition when licensing requirements don't require drivers to be good at driving in most of the world.

People can get home insurance in Florida, they just don't want to pay rates adjusted for the widespread flooding and storm damage in the last few years that increases risk for insurers. If insurers don't think they'll have enough customers at those higher rates to even be able to recoup expenses from the pool when payouts are made, they pull out.

People dont understand the difference between tax write-offs and tax deductible purchases. I do tax deductible purchases in December every year to lower or even eliminate my tax liability. I buy new vehicals and expensive equipment to lower my profit to zero or as closes as possible. The company was going to owe around $200k in taxes. If i pay the taxes, the money is just gone. If i buy vehicals and equipment those assets increase the value of my company. My S/O has the same fainting issue. I had to have my eyes dilated and some radioactive stuff injected for an eye exam so they came along to drive me home. To your first point: It takes extremely powerful magnets to harm the data on a platter. Think about it, powerful neodymium magnets are used to control the arm movement inside the HDD, yet the data remains unaffected. Tape or floppy disks on the other hand are very susceptible. Second concern: Copper wire will be unimpressed by static magnetic fields. It's when we're talking about varying fields that it gets dangerous, so either moving the magnet or jiggling the cable within the magnet holder. Still, the induced currents are small and the shielding will safely dissipate most of it to ground. Additionally, RJ-45 uses differential pairs which mitigate the issue: The same current would be induced into both wires of the pair and as such the effect is nullified.

The data on HDDs is generally not susceptible to magnet damage. What is susceptible is the writer/reader head. It can break, but if you replace it, the data is still on the platters, assuming the head break didn't damage the platters (usually doesn't). And it still usually requires industrial-grade magnets to break the write/read head.

Butterfly needles are the same needle dimensions as any other needle. measured in Gauge which is a set OUM. wall thickness is the same. Butterfly needles have a higher ratio of hole compared to a CANNULAR - (which is not a needle) a CANNULAR is rubber sheath that is commonly used for drawing blood or administering drugs. You GET a syringe needle and it's sizable (~14G), the needle is withdrawn leaving only the CANNULAR in it's place. a CANNULAR needs a bigger needle and leaves a smaller hole than any standard syringe needle (like a butterfly) alone. a Butterfly (in EVERY REGEION -that was another wrong call) is just a needle with wings. The reason you would use a "butterfly" instead of a normal syringe needle is so that it can be secured in place while it is in your vein. a Cannular is used for the same purpose (remoting) but is generally preferred because it is SAFER than a butterfly (its a soft rubber hose sitting in your vein not a steel needle that could punch through if disturbed). but in your case a CANNULAR doesn't work well, so a butterfly is better for you (and some other people). - but that is compared to a CANNULAR, and not a "standard needle" The way you said "I'm sorry your wrong" about medical stuff to a medical practitioner was awful. a Dunning Kruger moment.

About the car data collection topic, it gets even worse. I attended Amazon's AWS conference on edge computing a couple years ago, and there was a session discussing not just collecting individual car data, but being able to collect and sell data from the camera feed of cars. So instead of cars self reporting bad driving habits, the idea was that if a vehicle gets cut off by someone else, the camera equipped car would flag that vehicle's license plate up into the data conglomerate and act as marks against that person. Once enough data has been collected, insurance companies could then buy that invaluable information about bad drivers.
