I even sometimes recommend it to non-dev users, it's really simple and easy to use. And I have several times told the story of the Zorin brothers to my team, of how they developed the system and why they did it, to encourage, and compared them to the Wright brothers, who invented the airplane. I have used several Linux distros, Ubuntu, Fedora, Manjaro and some not so much famous ones, but I settled on Zorin OS.

But the M1/M2 chips are absolutely special and it is hard for me to recommend anything other than a Macbook for anybody wanting a quality laptop because of that. It is insane the amount of performance you get for how thin and light a Macbook is and you get to keep awesome battery life. In short Mac hardware is amazing but I find the software lacking. @@depreza68 The pro edition includes some preinstalled applications for professional tasks such as video and audio editing, those apps are tested and adjusted by the Zorin Team to make sure they work well in Zorin OS, and you can contact them for aftersale support if you encounter any issues when using them. If you’re not in those fields, for example you only wish to do some office work, browse the web, or for programming, then you don’t need them. Biggest flaw in Zorin is it is slow to update to the latest Ubuntu LTS. They are still running on 20.04 even though 24.04 is less than a year away. By the time Zorin gets to 22.04 Ubuntu will only be 6 months or so away from 24.04. I understand staying 6 months or so behind for the bugs to be worked out in the latest LTS before they move over but being 1.5 years behind is pretty bad. But I do love the support for Snaps and Flatpaks right out of the box with no configuration. I also am not a fan of the stock Ubuntu look.

Currently dual-booting with Windows 10 on a computer with 16GB RAM. Cannot upgrade the Windows side to Win 11 because my processor is not compatible. I did have a bit of trouble getting online in Zorin as I access the internet via a USB WiFi adapter with a Realtek chip. But I did my research and got to play in the terminal, too. Works like a charm now. I really like Zorin so far. I recommend it for newbies.

@@chrispbacon3042 Oh yes, that's exactly what happened. Downloaded Zorin Os 16.2 a few days. It's better and faster than Windows. Now want to experiment with Mint OS. What you said about Linux is pretty darnn true. Thanks a lot

What I would like to see is a comparison between Zorin and Linux Mint. Both of which seem to be courting Windows refugees. Thanks.

also videos with Ubuntu vs. Feren OS and Zorin OS vs. Feren OS and Mint vs. Feren OS would be very interesting and nice to have.

Which Linux OS is light weight and easy to use?
@legallyillegal23142 жыл бұрын
you mean distro? pretty much all of them are light weight, for ease of use, go with any mainstream debian based distro like ubuntu, pop or mint

I'm not a developer, just use the computer for what I need it for. And then Zorin OS is the ultimate choice.

I think, it was never possible to update Zorin 15 to 16. So for me, Mint and Mate are still preferable

Do I still need to know command line? If yes then I am good with Windows OS...
@cejannuzi2 жыл бұрын
With Zorin, not necessary. But knowing some basic commands you can run from the Terminal is very helpful. It saves a lot of time in most cases.

I prefer Ubuntu than Zorin OS! But the best for me are Debian and Fedora.

Ubuntu is bigger than Zorin..Zorin is kinda plain. Ubuntu is more colorful.

If you still want to use your exe apps, better stick to windows LOL Exe is exclusive for windows not linux

Zorin OS is aesthetically better than Ubuntu, but it uses the same resources and repositories so, same shitty things like snap store. When I used to have Nvidia cards, I had nothing but troubles between proprietary drivers and kernel updates. Black screen after reboot. Never. More. However, if I should be forced to use a Debian derivate (but thank God we have Red Hat and Enterprise experienced derivates) I would go for Mint Linux because they don't mess up like Canonical does.

zorin is kind of overrated i feel because people say its the best for low end pcs and i tried it on mine and just on idle it was consuming 25% of my cpu and 2gb of ram whereas on ubuntu it was only consuming like 1% of my cpu and less than 1gb of ram and overall ubuntu was just much faster

Zorin is just so, so ugly. Ubuntu on the other hand has had the best overall visual appearance for many years now. Zorin can only appeal to people who got used to windows and can't find stuff if it's not located in the same corner of the screen as it is in windows.

Bro was this a paid review? I've watched multiple video of you , where you praised so much about zorin. So i installed it over mint. Amd found slow boot time, all source of software part is not working. Yes wine is broken but it is more broken in zorin. You just wasted my time and my machine
@protonneutron9046 Жыл бұрын
I've never had any problems with Zorin over 5 years. Has worked on every machine I've put it on.
@Pieteros212 жыл бұрын
for me both are just too outdated and snap packages are way to slow to tolerate on modern PC , prefer fedora for now but willing to try EndevourOS , maybe will be better than manjaro whitch wasn't stable and just bloated .
