Bokassa was a dictator in Central African Republic. The diamonds stuff could be a reference to a policital scandal in France involving the then president Valery Giscard d'Estaing who was accused of accepting diamonds from Bokassa. Anyway, it's really weird to have a reference to Bokassa in a children cartoon, but I guess that's part of the course for Dingo Pictures

I love King M’Gahd’s backstory. Basically, he was a lazy and incompetent king, Diamond Panther used that to usurp him and get him banished, then he spent months wallowing in self-pity and being rude/neglectful to his family until Robin got fed up with it and took matters into his own paws, cuz his useless ass dad sure wasn’t going to do anything to get himself back on the throne. Now I understand why Robin was so dismissive towards him in “Lion and the King”.

You did a really great job with the translations! I really dislike very literal translations. German and English are very closely related, but in normal speech, many things are phrased differently between the two languages. Here's a couple random examples - "I don't know anything about it" in German would be "Ich weiß nichts davon." A very literal translation from the German would be "I know nothing thereof." Or, "I don't have any money" in German would be "Ich habe kein Geld." A very literal translation from the German would be "I have no money." While an English speaker would understand these two very literal translations I used as an example here, it sounds wrong and it's not how a native speaker would talk. Anyway, you wrote like a native speaker would write, and you didn't fall into the trap of very literal translations, which is something a lot of Germans do. Your English skills are excellent! I owned this movie on VHS as a kid! It always feels uncanny when a movie you watched as a child gets reviewed by Phelous lol. I remember always walking around and saying the "diamonds are a girl's best friend" line and driving my parents nuts. The rest of the movie is a blur it's so tedious to get trough that I would always space out I applause Phelous for getting trough this for the sake of the review. This review was so fun to watch though! as tedious Dingo movies can be I'm glad that they where made so we get these reviews:) btw at 19:16 where they use kolon in math, where I live kolon is sometimes used as a division sign. I love taht there are stupid small German things in this movie that Phelous mentions as a side note. Like the sterotypical italian mole ("Gastarbeiter") and the "divide by"-sign (the colon, as he called it). A little culture shock makes this even funnier to watch. I mean, experiencing cultural diffrences through a DINGO MOVIE of all things *lol* On a side note: It always gets me that a lot of the "voice actors" in the German original speak in heavy accents. I live in the same area and can totally tell where they are from.

Ah yes Lion and the King 0. While I enjoyed being able to put down things anywhere I wanted, the duel controls with Mahgod and Wabuu were pretty confusing.

That, and the unlockable “Diamond Hunter” mode has an annoying difficulty spike near the end, where enemies will start respawning. Those monkeys were definitely the worst.

1:44 That "Simba" DVD cover is most likely based on the Italian 1995 knock off cartoon series "Simba the King Lion" produced by Italian company Mondo TV since that series also had a Bambi knock off character. While this cover uses the Mondo Not-Bambi design, the Simba they used is not from the series.

I will never get tired of your Dingo reviews. I couldn't count the number of times I've watched Wabuu or Bremen Town Musicians. Just FYI, Konig is pronounced "KER-nish" in German. Not that you'll probably run into many more Lion and the King products, but one never knows. 😀

We use the / for fractions when we note them in a line. 7 : 2 is read "seven divided by two" and 7/2 is read "seven on two" or "seven half".. fraction and divisions are basically the same I know, but why be simple when you can be french :p...

Fun fact, for some bizarre reason, in my country (Spain) Dingo Pictures movies were distributed by the Ministry of Culture. I guess in our country standards are low enough that the Ministry of Culture considered this good movies to watch in school.
