Has it ever been considered that Nikki might be a liger, given her size and bulk? She even has rosettes still left over from her cub spots; it all points to the the traits of a liger, she could've just inherited more pattern/color from the lion parent if so. A theory, because she's definitely not your typical lion, even just looking at her face.

Mostly all lions keep rosettes on their stomachs and legs. With having experience with both lions and ligers, he is definitely all lioness.

Cats do have feelings. Cats do have their favorite keepers just like the keepers have favorite cats. However, do not mistake those feelings for a bond like is between domestic animals and people. Big Cats do have feelings but they will also behave like wild animals do. Their 'friendliness' can turn deadly in an instant.

She is one big lioness! Males usually weight between 500-550 lbs. I don't know what she weighs, but she seems HUGE...bigger than other lionesses. I'm glad they were able to provide a hahitat appropriate to her size. Way to go donors and BCR!

If you’re unfamiliar with Nikita, check out the bio for this girl. She loves and is very possessive of her toys. Unlike most lions she isn’t social and in fact gets heavily stressed when she can see other cats (except for one lioness she met in the 00s who later passed). Both male lions had “prides” but Nikita is a lonesome girl and that’s alright- BCR just made sure to design her space around her needs and personality.

I have your answer now. She's over 400lbs, possibly 450lbs. It's hard to tell and, as you know, we don't risk the lives of our cats by sedating them every year for a medical exam etc.... However, when they do have to have sedation and medical procedures we try to get their weights then.

Big Cat Rescue Thanks a lot, Also can you make a video on how BCR is unable to name the cats they rescue despite their weird names in native languages from where they come. For eg Shere Khan is a tiger but Shere means Lion in Hindi, Simba was a leopard but Simba means Lion ( if I am not wrong ) in Afrikaans.

I believe they don't rename the cats except in certain cases (ie Keisha and Teisha used to have the same name, but the newer arrival was changed so there was no confusion as to which one was meant) because the cats know their names most times, and it helps them to settle in and not have to learn a new name.

Great job to all the donors, volunteers and all the other animal lovers whom helped to enrich beautiful Nikita's life. Animal lovers are the best, with the biggest hearts. Factory farms are a big concern for me too, the poor pigs, cows ect... I am vegan but if you do choose to eat meat at least from a humane raised small farm. Meat for humans is not very healthy anyways, the President of the US Medical Association is vegan. The eldest gentleman in the US, Bernando Lapallo whom is in perfect health at 113 years young is vegan! Top athletes are often too, ie. Serena Williams. +Anne Ward They are bigger but also very physically different in other ways. Their head is a different shape for instance. Neither BCR nor especially their vets would make that kind of a mistake.
