These look amazing but what kinda gets me is that Bachmann figured out how to get a decoder and speaker into their HO scale version of these engines but Lionel can’t make a compact version of their boards and speakers?

Here is something that I actually read: The correct name for the location of where the Golden Spike was hammered (and therefore where the National Historic Site is located) is actually Promontory Summit, not Promontory Point, which 35 miles to the south. The summit is the highest point of Promontory Pass. For some reason, the wrong location was reported in some records in 1869 and perpetuated throughout U.S. history.

The cars being pulled by 119 are simply gorgeous. The yellow paint offset by the black filigree railings makes a bold statement. I like 'em!

I take issue with the fact that the models are too small for a sound system. Legacy I accept, but HO scale models can put out excellent sound, to my mind equal to any Railsounds audio I've heard personally. I don't think it would have been too hard to fit an HO sized sound enclosure into these models.
@YellowNoseProductions2 жыл бұрын
I agree, literally some N scale models have sound systems, so these models aren’t too small at all
@Ericstrains2 жыл бұрын
They could probably fit sound into it, but it would sound sub par. Better to put a full size speaker in the sound car

I have the Pensylvania engine and two passanger cars, because my wife wanted the green one. They are beautiful, and look even better in person. It's one of my favorites. I was hoping they would make a B&O engine & caboose, along with a few matching freight cars. It's a shame to let the tooling go to waste.

The radio sound was a downer, sorry I just like historical accuracy, but Lionel made most of it up by having a very accurate whistle on both engines and also not forgetting to add a smoke stack to the passenger cars because back in those days... got to have a big open fire furnace for heat and to cook meals.
@patrickwamsley32842 жыл бұрын
I understand the lack of space for a legacy system however I would say it's a bit dumb as if a dockside 0-4-0 in HO can have DCC and sound, they could put it in these 4-4-0s. And it would be beneficial for them to tool up a legacy board for these as they could use it in a line of legacy equipped tank engines and so forth.
@Ericstrains2 жыл бұрын
They could probably fit it, but it would sound like crap. Better to put it in the sound car and get decent sound quality

Very cool Eric. Thanks for sharing these awesome locos. Funny, Promontory Utah is just 25 min North of here. Cool if you are already in the area I suppose, but I recommend just watching the documentary. Nothing out there but the exhibit (Jupiter & 119 sheds,) a lot of desert and plenty of wind to go with it. A visit to the Cheyenne UP Steam shop & Roundhouse is a better use of a trip in my opinion.. just sayin. Cheers!

Wow those are really beautiful engines and cars. Maybe you said it and I missed it but do they not puff smoke because of their size? It's funny seeing how much smaller they are coming out of the tunnels compared to your diesels.
