You are very fortunate to have a wife who likes trains. Mine is like the rest. They just tolerate it. lol. Love the 221. I have both the black and grey versions. Freight and passenger sets.

Very nice! I like that 221. I have one, but I'm in the process of repairing the tender. The springs that hold the rollers to the center rail have gotten weak and the whistle only works when it it stopped. I've been running it with one of my 6466WX tenders, which looks pretty good, behind it. The only pre-war that I have is a 1931 Winner set. It still runs flawlessly. An excellent video, as always.

Sometimes the tech people of today disgust me as they design stuff that is designed to fail, programmed to fail. The old companies did not do this. I have five prewar train sets, a 225e freight set, a 226e freight set, a gunmetal gray 763e (1937) freight set, a 1940 black 763e passenger set (with Irvington cars) and a 1937 700e Rail Chief set and all of these locomotives operate with just a little oil added. No electronics to dry out and fail, and no outdated electronics which can't communicate with your system unless you spend lots of money to upgrade. There was no upgrading back in the day, they just ran. Sometimes, with my modern locomotives, I think I wouldn't mind stripping all the electronics out of them and set them up to just operate like the prewar trains. I'd keep the can motors as they are excellent, get rid of these smoke units completely and replace all the sound stuff with a basic electronic reverse unit After all, these highly detailed models deserve to be appreciated for their detailing and simple performance (like so many of even today's 2-rail operators) where you hear nothing but metal wheels on metal rails, a beautiful sound BTW.
