The explanations he's doing recently about lactate and changing conditions are finally way and way more on point in comparison to the last time Lionel used lactate when he just wanted to do what Kristian and Gustav were doing. I feel like it's making more sense to him now as to why lactate is such a great guidance and to me it seems like if everything goes well and Lionel has a great swim, a top 8 is almost certain. Good job on the vids too, Talbot! Hats off :)

Above LT1 is where the working muscle cannot cope with the lactate any more and part of it is released to blood circulation for other muscles and organs to use. Above LT2 is where the whole body cannot cope with lactate any more so lactate in blood goes through the roof.

I wonder if the heat dissociation curve (higher levels of co2, lower pH, and obviously higher temp of blood) caused you to feel off... your body could still have been acclimatizing and CNS might have been a little shocked from the extra work. Kudos for using a lactate reader and HRV to keep everything under wraps, monitoring intensity and recovery closely, every triathlete has much to learn from Lionel. If others are curios or still reading you can save money on a lactate reader if your on a budget by observing and tracking your ventilation rate as they follow nearly identical breaking points when plotted on a graph as LT1 and LT2.

Lionel has become so into data. He relies on it. When I first heard about him he was a recovering cocaine addict and animal on the bike. He seems not be a big factor anymore. For guys who can’t swim with lead pack the bike needs to be exploited and hang on for the run. He plays it to save ..dynamic but takes no risk. Anyways how many more Kona’s does he have in him? I hope he takes the win one day and just unplugs.

you do know the best endurance athletes in the world basically never take a day off training. Cyclists don't even really taper. When they have a race on Sunday, they will do a long ride (and I mean like 6h) on Wednesday or Thursday. They will do a recon of the parcours on Thursday or Friday. Saturday they do a small ride but with efforts to keep the blood floing. Monday after the race 2h recovery ride and they start all over again on Tuesday.

@@Gws525 Winning Frankfurt and then saying, he would have changed this win with Paris is disrespectful for all other pro's and agegroupers in Frankfurt. If he doesn't care for a win, he is welcome to not compete. Also winning TdF was no joke. Apart from TdF-Bikers no one took this announcement as joke. Not a single one. The bike pros did, because they knew better. Also his wins are completely overrated. 3 or 4 IM wins and Tokyo don't put him near the GOAT, they even don't put him in the Top10 of all times. If he won as much races as he is bragging about his training, he would have 5 world titles and 3 olympic golds.
@Gws5253 ай бұрын
@@bluesparrow-hx5qf what age are you ? Saying you’d swap another Olympic Gold - that he’d been training for for the entire year, which he was very clear was his focus, which is a far bigger race, far more prestigious - that’s not disrespectful to anyone. At all. He needed to race to qualify for Kona, genius ? lol, he went from an Olympic gold to iron man world champ, then 70.3 champ, then tried to go back for Gold. Also, he broke the IM world record and just smoked the field at Frankfurt with a 2.35 marathon after basically no training? You not liking the guy doesn’t take away from what are objectively amazing achievements, no matter how childish or bitter you are. And he’s absolutely in the GOAT convo. You’re completely deluded (and bitter) if you think otherwise
