A very sad tragedy, something evitable , never should fly in bad weather specially when is snowing so heavy and planes get engines and other equipment frozen. So sorry to those families that lost loved ones.

Αnd now we saw another Potomac River plane crash, after an airliner collided with a military helicopter. This time there was no stalling though.... It was a mid-air collision... January 1982 - January 2025. 67 fatalities this time... 78 fatalities, 43 years ago!

I remember watching this as a kid, too. The lady in the water who tried too hard to get to safety stayed with me. I wanted to help her, but her. Even as I child, I wanted to do something.

This was a really good movie . I remember watching this on Tv as it happened . Also saw this television movie when it aired. Had it on a VHS tape for awhile . Good to see this movie preserved and now online . Thank you so much . A terrible loss of life . Only 1 flight attendant and 4 passengers survived this 4 crew and 74 passengers perished.,😢😮

About a couple of weeks ago, I saw bits and pieces of this exact upload of this movie based on the January 1982 Tragedy of an Airplane Crashing into the Potomac; which foreshadowed a very similar incident on the Potomac also in Cold and Freezing Weather nearly 2-days-ago. ABC News compared the 2 Crises spanning 43 years from one another.

Love these movies and times from the seventies and eighties. I was age 24. Glad they have this movie, as I don't think I remember this or know about this flight tragedy, as I was too busy raising two young daughters living on the West Coast at this time. They did a real good job showing this very sad and tragic story. So sorry for all involved. When instincts raise caution in you about anything, we should listen. Don't like the thought of even flying in winter anywhere.

Amazing documentation of flight 401. I do not blame the pilots for anyone with those circumstances could have cause the crash. It is amazing how many people survived the crash due to the excellent calculations of the pilots. In that situation I am surprised that he saved over 70 people/souls.

@SteVibiana5 күн бұрын
No, Savitch was killed in a car accident in 1983.
@jocelynharris-fx8ho2 күн бұрын
The only commonality , was that Jessica died when her car went into a canal. She and her date had just finished dinner at a restaurant . Because it was night time and there were no street lights, the canal had been mistaken for a road and they drive into the water where they both drowned.

The men in the helicopter, the man who braved the freezing water-Roger, and the man who gave his own life, so other's could survive, were the REAL HEROES, of that day👍👏👏👏!!!! Cause it sure as shit, wasn't those first responders, of that day. Where were they??? Did they not want, to get their feet wet, and earn their pay, saving lives?? It's really embarrassing for police and firemen, when the average 'Joe-blow', does a better job than them, and saves the day. I remember this accident, even 42 years later.

Getting divers suited up and on the scene could take hours. There were no boats handy so it seems. A few men in the kind of kit that surfers wear could have got into the water as they would have had protection against the temperature. But no such surfing suits were available.

What are you talking about?! The Potomac was a literal skating rink. The Coast Guard wouldn't have been able to get there without an ice breaker. Additionally, the water was above freezing, which meant that hypothermia was going to set in around the 5-10 minute mark. No CG boat could've gotten there in time--even at full speed. Everyone on board were killed--if not instantly--in under a minute.
