I remember the movie. But I also do remember seeing it live as I lived in Woodbridge, Va. Which was about 40 miles sout of Washington when it happened. My prayers go to the victims and the survivors. And my thanks goes out to the rescue efforts of the helicopter and to Mr. Lenny Skutnik who saved that woman in the river. My mom was just south of the 14th Bridge as the plane went down. And heard it go down.

I watch this movie in its entirety from beginning to end, but my main focus was on the pilot during the takeoff roll… The copilot kept bringing up issues with the instruments and every time he did that the pilot would just whistle and ignore him. His demeanor seem to me to be very arrogant, and oblivious to what was going on. And in my opinion, that is what caused the crash of that airplane.
@jrzygurl Жыл бұрын
That is an outstanding observation I looked into the Pilot's background and he had been disciplined before according to records he bypassed training failed a bunch of times before he passed certain tests he was not considered a good pilot... that plane sat there for almost an hour and was never D iced again you are correct the pilot was arrogant and should not have even attempted to take off in such bad weather

@npkrn6764 Жыл бұрын
The pilot, and the co-pilot were as well as the airport were collectively to blame. As bad as the weather was, if you cannot keep up with de-icing, then the airport should be closed. I've heard it's better now with some airports having portable de-icing out on the runway. Also, they kept showing the Pitot tubes. Those should be inspected carefully after de-icing to make sure they're clear! And the two pilots having the plane's "De-ice" switch OFF??? DUH! 🤦♀️ But there were some great lines from Richard Mazur's character! Of course, he usually provides that deadpan comic style - he has had some great acting parts over his career.
@Yaz1231 Жыл бұрын

how come this movie has basically the real CVR recording being said by the actors as if they were reading the transcript, but when it comes to the tragedy at Tenerife we have to rely on an interpretation? The real CVR of this flight is one i have heard plenty of times. And i knew this movie, from when i was a lot younger. But now i see this part again and these actors basically read the transcript of the CVR in a movie. Why was this not done in movies about the Tenerife disaster, nor even in the actual Air Crash Investigation docu about that crash? We as the public have to rely on a transcript. But in this case there seems to be no problem to release the CVR and have actors say it almost word for word. I just do not understand why they have never released the audio of the CVR from the Tenerife disaster. They blame the dutch captain, because he was impatient. Sure, could be. May we as the public hear that for ourselves, or do we have to rely on "experts" and transcriptions of recordings? Smells fishy to me, to be honest.
@Justice-ef9sk4 ай бұрын
🙄🙄 so you think the CVR of Tenerife should’ve been in the movie made about it? Lol Who cares!? These are TV movies they based on what happened but not 100% factual. Maybe I’m reading your comment wrong because I don’t understand what it is you’re saying. And the CVR from the KLM /PanAm IS available to the public. I’ve heard it myself. And hell, yes, that Dutch captain is 100% to blame for that crash.
@bertjesklotepino4 ай бұрын
@@Justice-ef9sk Let me correct you right from the getgo: I NEVER SAID the CVR of Tenerife should be in the movie made about it. And you say you have heard the CVR yourself. I can remember having heard it myself as well. Do we both suffer from the Mandela effect? Or is it out there? If it is, then pls, supply a link. And as for who is to blame..... we can only really determine that if we indeed can hear what was said on that CVR. So there we are..... Show me the link to the CVR recording. Tell me, where did you hear it. I think (not sure, but i do think a lot about it) i have heard it myself. It is nowhere to be found. And so we are left with the transscripts. It is easy to put the blame on someone if you only go by transscripts. Stuff that other people wrote, interpreting what they heard or whatever. Pls do start with pointing out the exact moment i said that the CVR of Tenerife should have made it into a movie. I am curious about that myself. I know i can not have been that stupid.

I remember seeing this on the news. It was very sad then and still is today. I thought the film did a good job.

To me, this seems like a really awful, dorky, movie, and probably not a truly complete or accurate depiction of this incident. It's like watching a really bad soap opera of an airplane disaster that really was a tragic event.

So we never have movies about historical tragedies, disasters, and wars?
@VerisimilitudeFilms19 ай бұрын
I got news for you. Survivors of the Titanic were making movies about the incident since the early 20's. And it's not just the American movie industry, every movie industry around the world has made movies about tragic events. Like another person said, "grow up."

Actors too weak to get a real military haircut just make the scene, and the movie look fake and amateurish.
